'Palestinian' flag banned from Eurovision
Eurovision is a song festival in Europe that is televised and voted upon internationally. Israel is a participant. The imaginary country of 'Palestine' is not. (They don't need to be - a couple of years ago, the Israeli entrants showed up
carrying Syrian flags).
Last week, Eurovision published a list of banned flags. The
banned flags included the 'Palestinian' flag, and 'Palestinian' chief
negotiator bottle washer Saeb Erekat
howled in protest.
Palestinian leaders are blasting the Eurovision Song Contest for
preventing their flag from being flown during the event this month.
Palestinian official Saeb Erekat voiced his dismay in a letter to
Jean-Paul Philippot, the head of the European Broadcasting Union which
oversees the yearly contest. In the letter, obtained by The Associated
Press Sunday, Erekat says the decision is "totally biased and
unacceptable." The Palestinians do not compete in the contest.
The EBU published a list of banned flags last week. Among them were
the flags of Northern Cyprus, Kosovo, Spain's Basque region and the
Islamic State group's flag.
In a Facebook post , the EBU apologized and said it removed the list of flags. An updated policy says flags of an "offensive, discriminatory, unsuitable, political or religious nature," are banned.
But the 'Palestinian' flag is certainly of an "offensive, discriminatory, unsuitable, political or religious nature." So they're still banned. Here's Eurovision's apology from Friday morning:
"On Thursday afternoon, a draft version of the flag policy for the
2016 Eurovision Song Contest was published on the website of the Globe
Arena and ticket agency AXS. The document included a non-exhaustive list
of examples of flags that under the flag policy are prohibited in the
venue. This document was not intended to be published.
The
organisers understand and acknowledge the sensitivities of presenting a
selection of flags of organisations and territories, each of them of
very different nature. The organisers apologise to everyone who feels
offended by the list.
The EBU has asked the Globe Arena and AXS
to immediately remove the document that includes the flag examples, and
to publish the official document, without the examples, instead.
The official and final flag policy document will be published on the
official website, Eurovision.tv, later today, along with a full
explanation."
So these are now the permitted flags:
Official national flags of the 42
participating countries, or from one of the
countries that have recently taken part
(e.g. Turkey, Portugal, Romania).
Official national flags of any of the other
United Nations Member States (see
http://www.un.org/en/member-states/ for
an updated list).
The European Union flag.
The rainbow flag, as a symbol of tolerance
and diversity.
And if you follow that list of United Nations Members States.... Israel is in. 'Palestine' is not.

Moonbat AG: ISIS, Hamas and Hezbullah flags out, but PLO flag in
In a letter to the prosecutors' offices, our moronic attorney general says that if you display an ISIS, Hamas or Hezbullah flag, you will be arrested and prosecuted (unless you're a 'Palestinian' or other non-Israeli citizen, in which case even those flags are okay),
but if an Israeli citizen displays a PLO flag, that's cool with Yehuda Weinstein.
The letter says that, according to Weinstein's opinion, the state is
on clear legal grounds to persecute such actions. “The Palestine
Liberation Organization was declared a terror organization many years
ago, and that designation has never been changed. Technically, flying
the PLO flag is a crime, as that was legislated when the PLO was
declared a terror group.
“Given the new relationship between Israel and the Palestinian
Authority, which represents the PLO, the Attorney General has for many
years overlooked the criminal aspects of flying the PLO flag, and no one
is persecuted [sic - CiJ] for this anymore,” the letter said. “With that, there is
no overall protection for flying the flag of terror groups, which is
still a crime.” That law, the letter said, needed to be enforced against
groups that practice terrorism, including ISIS, Hezbollah, and Hamas.
“When such flags and symbols are displayed police must judge if there
is a possibility of public disorder or disturbance, or of danger to the
public. If there is, police should take steps to remove the flags. In appropriate cases, charges may be made against perpetrators,” the letter added.
While the PLO flag could fly, the letter said, action should be taken
as quickly and forcefully as possible against the flags of other terror
groups, the letter said. “We have recently distributed these
instructions to police and security officials and expect them to act
according to these principles,” it added.

Glasgow loses hundreds of US visitors over flying 'Palestinian' flag
The city of Glasgow (Scotland)'s decision to
fly the 'Palestinian' flag has led to 600 US visitors (the kind of business visitors who spend money)
canceling plans to visit (Hat Tip:
Sandy W).
The city was expected to host a major event to reward US salesmen and
women, which would have injected thousands of pounds into the economy,
but now the six-day trip has been cancelled.
Richard Cassini, vice-president of one of the leading special event
companies behind the trip, emailed the Lord Provost Sadie Docherty to
inform her of the boycott.
Mr Cassini wrote: "I was spearheading an event in Glasgow for 600 business visitors to be guests of your wonderful city.
"We were scheduling six days in Glasgow, three for business and three for leisure time.
"Having read your statement endorsing Hamas and its leadership due
to the number of Muslims in your city, I have decided to cancel all
plans for our trip.
"We are a Fortune 500 company, so costs were really not a serious consideration, location was.
"Hopefully, the Muslim population that you so sincerely endorse will
have the spending power of the very people you have chased away so
well."
The council confirmed today that they had received the email but had
not yet replied because of the volume of responses to the decision to
fly the flag.
It should be the first of many.

On to the '48 territories'
As Tel Aviv police sat silently,
'Palestinian' flags replaced Israeli flags in the mostly Arab neighborhood of Yaffo (Jaffa) in south Tel Aviv.
Walla! reported the flags had been waving at the site for
several hours, and that despite a number of requests to Tel Aviv police,
officers or Municipality workers had not rushed to take them down.
The flags were put up after Israeli flags at the site were removed;
the whereabouts of those flags and the perpetrators of the switch remain
unknown.
Yafo is home to large numbers of Arab citizens of Israel; in 2011 over 1,000 local Arabs, mostly residents of the Israeli city, protested Israel's existence on "Nakba (catastrophe) Day."
The placement of the flags implies with it a claim of PA rule over
the region, which is clearly not over the 1949 Armistice lines being
used as a basis of peace talks in opposition to the original intent of
the ceasefire lines.
Even if by some miracle we reached an agreement with the 'Palestinians,' I doubt that anyone whose name isn't John FN Kerry believes that the conflict would actually be over.

Video: Anti-AIPAC demonstrators wave Hezbullah flags
Yes, they're terror supporters.
Internationally designated terrorist group Hezbollah was represented
outside the AIPAC policy conference in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, by
two Americans waving its flag.
While a small group of protesters
were waving Palestinian Authority flags and holding placards condemning
Israel, as at some other public Jewish and Israeli events, AIPAC
delegates said they were horrified to see the Hezbollah flag, which is a
rare sight.

Shame: 'Palestinian' flag on display at Knesset
The Israeli flag would never willingly be flown by the 'Palestinians' in Ramallah, and that's one reason why the 'Palestinian' flag ought not to be flown at the Knesset.
But it was.
It was not the first time a Palestinian flag flew at the Knesset. In
July 1999, then-Knesset speaker Avraham Burg hosted his Palestinian
counterpart Ahmed Qurei, and there were Palestinian flags all over the
parliament.
The caucus's chairman, Labor MK Hilik Bar, said that
just like he got 30 of the 120 MKs to come to meet the Palestinian
delegation at the Knesset, when the group comes to Ramallah, he expects
one fourth of the Palestinian parliament to greet them. It will be up to
One Voice, a pro-peace lobby at the parliaments in Jerusalem and
Ramallah to work on the Palestinian turn-out.
Besides Madani and
Zananiri, the Palestinian delegation included Prisoners Affairs Minister
Ashraf Al-Ajami, Palestinian Center for Dissemination of Democracy and
Community Development in East Jerusalem director Walid Salem, and
Abdallah Abdallah, a former deputy foreign minister who chairs the
Political Committee of the Palestinian Legislative Council.
The
Knesset members included Shas MK Yitzhak Cohen and ministers Yael German
and Amir Peretz from coalition parties Yesh Atid and Hatnua but no
legislators came from Likud Beytenu or Bayit Yehudi. Speaking in Hebrew,
Al-Ajami called upon the MKs in the caucus to persuade Prime Minister
Binyamin Netanyahu to keep the nascent diplomatic process going until an
agreement is reached that would create a Palestinian state.
"There
has to be pressure from the Knesset and the Israeli public on the
government to go all the way," Al-Ajami said. "Abbas is taking huge risk
by going to peace talks. I don't want to talk about a last chance for
peace, but we're both in trouble if it fails."
I want to see what happens when and if they go to Ramallah. I'd bet on zero turnout from the 'Palestinian parliament' and a riot if the Israelis actually show up. And no flag.
Remember 1993-2000 when we taught our kids about peace and empathizing with 'the other' and they taught their kids to murder Jews?

'Long live Palestine': 'Palestinian' flag comes to Passaic county, New Jersey
The 'Palestinian' flag (the '
flag of jihad against the Jews') was raised over the city hall of Paterson, New Jersey on Sunday. Although Paterson is a heavily Arab-Muslim city, it is also the county seat of
heavily Jewish Passaic county, New Jersey.
The raising of a flag at City Hall on Sunday was like any of the
dozen or so similar events held in the city each year in a nod to its
diversity.
Except it wasn’t.
That’s because the flag raised — for the first time in Paterson, and
possibly at any city hall in the United States — was Palestinian.
Symbols or assertions of Palestinian statehood are fraught with
political sensitivities, and Khader Abuassab, the event’s organizer,
said he received harassing phone calls before Sunday’s event.
But no problems were on display Sunday when the flag was raised in the rain before elected officials and about 150 people. People cheered, danced, shared sweets and shouted, “Long Live Palestine.”
“Palestine is our country and we are proud of that,” said Clifton
resident Salwa Ramadan. “We’re happy [to be] recognized finally.”
You might recall that a year ago, there were
overtones of anti-Semitism in the
reelection campaign of local Congressman
Bill Pascrell (D). Guess who was
front and center at Sunday's event.
Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr., D-Paterson, and Assemblyman Thomas
Giblin, D-Clifton, showed up — with Pascrell presenting a letter of
Special Congressional Recognition and Giblin presenting an Assembly
resolution marking the event.
I have been told that a 'letter of Special Congressional Recognition' is something that any Congresscritter has the right to present. So is Congress now endorsing the jihad against the Jews?

Jerusalem school raises the PLO flag
I only have the link
in Hebrew right now, but an Arab school in Jerusalem's Abu Tor neighborhood (a neighborhood that is mostly Arab with some Jews, but is right on the former armistice lines) conducted a ceremony to raise the 'Palestinian' flag on Monday (Hat Tip:
Hadar).
UPDATE 11:44 AMHadar points out that the kiddies in the flag-raising ceremony were doing the Nazi salute. I didn't recognize that term in the Hebrew original.

Israeli sources said that Israeli political and security officials were shocked after some Palestinian youths managed to raise a number of Palestinian flags atop the buildings of the ministry of justice and the district court in occupied East Jerusalem. Those youths were participating in a march in solidarity with the hunger striking prisoners that was launched from the Damascus Gate through Salah a-Dein Street, where these building are located, until the ICRC headquarter in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. Meanwhile, a group of youths and activists in the popular resistance carried out early yesterday a campaign of removing Israeli flags from routes that connects between West Bank cities and replaced them with Palestinian flags.
The leader of the campaign Ibrahim Burnat said that a group of youths took off at 3:00 am from the center of Ramallah towards Ramallah-Nablus road and took down the Israeli flags from electricity poles while using ladders and replaced them with Palestinian flags. Settlers were provoked by this action yet no clashes erupted as the operation was held in secret, Burnat added.

Where are the police? Where is the IDF? If they can wander the roads like that on a Saturday morning, they can also carry out terror attacks on a Saturday morning.

'Palestinian' flag raised over UN building for first time
The 'Palestinian' flag - which shows all of Israel as being 'Palestine' - is to be
raised over a UN building for the first time on Tuesday at the UNESCO building in Paris.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will be in Paris tomorrow to attend the first ever raising of the Palestinian flag over a United Nations building, a move opposed by the United States.
"This is the first time that the flag [of Palestine] will be flown at the headquarters of a UN institution," a Palestinian diplomat told Taiwan News. The flag will be raised above the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) headquarters in Paris.
The Tehran Times (Iran) reports that "a spokesperson for Abbas said he will also meet with French President Nicolas Sarkozy during his visit."

Disgraceful: British students to hand out 'Palestinian' flags
This one is simply beyond belief.
Read and weep.
The Union of Jewish Students is to launch a "radical, progressive" campaign, encouraging students to speak up for the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians.
Jewish students arriving at universities in the next fortnight will be asked to pledge their support to "two states for two peoples", hand out Israeli and Palestinian flags, and support "freedom, justice and equality" for all.
There is a belief within UJS that standard advocacy efforts "do not cut it any more" because "students are not stupid". Students will be encouraged to back the "liberation" of Israelis from Palestinian terror, and Palestinians through the formation of a new state.
Campaigns director Dan Sheldon said UJS had decided on the new direction because "hasbara is not working". He said: "We have done our research. Old campaigns regarding Israel have not worked, so we are trying a bold approach."
Hasbara for Israel is not working. So they're going to do hasbara for the 'Palestinians' instead. Damned morons.

CUNY to fly 'Palestinian' flag at commencement
But
of course....
The City University of New York, which has already outraged Israel supporters with its decision to honor anti-Israel playwright Tony Kushner, will also be taking the unusual step of flying a Palestinian flag at the upcoming commencement for City College, a spokesperson for the university told me today.
“The City College flies all of the flags that are flown at the United Nations,” the Vice President for Communications Mary Lou Edmondson told me. “It has nothing to do with foreign policy.”
But there’s one problem—the United Nations doesn’t fly the Palestinian flag. It only flies the flags of its 192 member states.
Then what prompted the college’s decision?

Allen West condemns PLO flag in Washington
Freshman Representative Allen West (R-Fl) has joined House Foreign Affairs Committee chairwoman
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fl) in
condemning the PLO flag flying in Washington (Hat Tip:

The office of U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, says the freshman congressman is publicly condemning the Palestine Liberation Organization, or PLO, for raising its flag outside its offices in the nation's capital.
"The raising of this flag is an attempt to legitimize an organization with a known history of terrorist actions," West said, in a written news release.
"By allowing this flag to be flown, the United States is extending a diplomatic right that we refrain from offering to even our own allies, like Taiwan. This action is a diplomatic slap in the face of our greatest of allies, Israel."
He was joined by another South Florida congressperson and fellow Republican, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, in condemning the flag-raising. They're asking President Obama and the Department of State's Foreign Missions to yank back the permission that was given to the PLO to raise it.
Make that two representatives who understand that the PLO is still a terrorist organization. Do I hear three?

House Foreign Affairs chairwoman blasts display of 'Palestinian' flag
House Foreign Affairs Committee chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen has blasted the display of a
'Palestinian' flag on the newly upgraded 'Palestinian mission' in Washington beginning Tuesday.
“Raising this flag in DC is part of the Palestinian leadership’s scheme to manipulate international acceptance and diplomatic recognition of a yet-to-be-created Palestinian state while refusing to directly negotiate with Israel or accept the existence of Israel as a democratic, Jewish state,” she charged in a statement.
She said the flag-hoisting continues the effort on the part of Palestinians to be recognized by foreign governments, and that it’s “part of the same strategy aimed at extracting concessions without being required to meet international commitments.”
Ros-Lehtinen also criticized the Obama administration, saying, “The US has reinforced Ramallah’s rejectionism through economic and political support, including support for the PLO office in Washington, instead of requiring that they meet all conditions in US law.”
Indeed.
I wonder how many of her colleagues on the committee would sign on to that statement. Would ranking minority member Howard Berman (D-Cal) sign onto it? I'd like to think that he would, because he is a true supporter of Israel, but I wonder if he would so vehemently criticize the Obama administration.
