French Prime Minister Manuel Valls blasts anti-Semitism
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls made a blistering speech to his country's national assembly on Tuesday, in which he blasted his countrymen's lack of response to anti-Semitism, vowed to fight jihad, and even took on France's anti-Semitic comedian Dieudonne.
Here's one English translation video I managed to find.
Let's go to the videotape.
And here are some more
highlights.
In his speech, Valls was explicit that the “first question that has
to be dealt with clearly is the struggle against antisemitism.”
“History has taught us that the awakening of antisemitism is the
symptom of a crisis for democracy and of a crisis for the Republic. That
is why we must respond with force,” Valls said. Recalling a series of
antisemitic outrages in France in recent years, such as the abduction,
torture and murder of the young Parisian Jew Ilan Halimi in 2006, the
murder of three small children and a rabbi by an Islamist gunman at a
Jewish school in Toulouse in 2012, and the rape of a young Jewish woman
during an antisemitic assault on a Jewish home in the Paris suburb of
Creteil in December 2014, Valls asserted that these and other incidents
“did not not produce the national outrage that our Jewish compatriots
expected.”
“How can we accept that in France, where the Jews were emancipated
two centuries ago, but which was also where they were martyred [during
the Nazi Holocaust] 70 years ago, that cries of ‘death to the Jews’ can
be heard on the streets?” Valls asked, the indignation in his voice
steadily rising. “How can we accept that French people can be murdered
for being Jews? How can we accept that compatriots, or a Tunisian
citizen whose father sent him to France so that he would be safe, is
killed when he goes out to buy his bread for Shabbat?”
Valls observed that there “is a historical antisemitism that goes
back centuries.” But, he added, “there is also a new antisemitism that
is born in our neighborhoods, coming through the internet, satellite
dishes, against the backdrop of loathing of the State of Israel, which
advocates hatred of the Jews and all the Jews.”
Implored the French Prime Minister: “It has to be spelled out – the
right words must be used to fight this unacceptable antisemitism.”
Valls emphasized an additional point that he has made repeatedly over
the last few days: that a France shorn of its Jewish community would no
longer be France. “This is the message we have to communicate loud and
clear,” he said. “How can we accept that in certain schools and colleges
the Holocaust can’t be taught? How can we accept that when a child is
asked, ‘who is your enemy,’ the response is ‘the Jew?’ When the Jews of
France are attacked, France is attacked, the conscience of humanity is
attacked. Let us never forget that.”
The speech was also an opportunity for Valls to directly confront
Dieudonné M’Bala M’bala, the anti-Semitic French provocateur infamous
for devising the “quenelle,” an inverted Nazi salute, as well as for his
frequent mocking of the Holocaust. Yesterday, the French authorities
confirmed that Dieudonné, along with 53 other defendants, had been
arrested for offenses including hate speech, antisemitism, and
glorifying terrorism.
Refusing to mention the self-styled comedian by name, Valls spoke of
“the indignity of a serial hater having a full house on Saturday night,
when the country was mourning for what happened [at the HyperCacher
market] in Porte de Vincennes.” As the National Assembly rose in a
standing ovation for the Prime Minister, Valls thundered, “Let us never
pass over these matters in silence, and let justice be implacable with
those who preach hate. And I say that emphatically here at the National
Assembly.”
Too late?

Leader of French Jewish community indicted for insulting 'professional anti-Semite'
Roger Cukierman, probably the most prominent leader of the French Jewish community, has been indicted for calling French '
comedian' Dieudonne M'bala M'bala a '
professional anti-Semite' (Hat Tip:
MFS - The Other News).
Cukierman, who heads the CRIF umbrella of French Jewish communities
and organizations, announced the indictment on Monday in a video that
appeared on the CRIF website.
“So I am being indicted for having stated on Europe 1
that Dieudonne is a professional anti-Semite. Isn’t that funny? For
once, Dieudonne is actually comical,” Cukierman said.
Dieudonne has 10 convictions for inciting racial
hatred against Jews, according to CRIF. He also invented the quenelle
salute – which French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said was an inverted
Nazi gesture of anti-Semitic hate, and the term “shoananas,” a mashup of
the Hebrew world for the Holocaust and the French word for pineapple,
which is used
to suggest the genocide never happened without explicitly violating
France’s laws against doing so.
Earlier this year, Valls, then interior minister,
advised mayors to ban Dieudonne’s shows, leading to the show’s
cancellation and replacement with another routine which featured less
anti-Semitic material.
Indictments are “quasi-automatic” in France when police receive
complaints of defamation, according to the L’Express news website.
Responding to the indictment, the National Bureau for Vigilance Against Vigilance, or BNVCA, extended its support for Cukierman.
“No one in France knows anti-Semitism better than
Roger Cukierman, who survived the Holocaust at the age of nine because
nuns hid him while his family was deported to Auschwitz and gassed
there,” the Drancy-based watchdog wrote in a statement Tuesday.

Dieudonne still thinks dead Jews are a laughing matter
If he were making these kinds of 'jokes' about any other ethnic group, he would long since be ostracized. But French 'comedian' Dieudonne M'bala M'bala thinks that what happened to
Ilan Halimi is a joke, and he
doesn't hesitate to tell anyone about it.
According to France TV Info channel, Dieudonne utters
profanities in relation to Ilan Halimi, a young Parisian Jew who was
tortured and murdered in 2006 by a gang of kidnappers.
“If I knock down a journalist who also happens to be Jewish it will
be a serious thing,” journalists quoted Dieudonne as saying on stage.
“They will reopen the Nuremberg trials. They will even exhume Ilan
Halimi. And they’re going to find my DNA in his asshole.”
Halimi, who was targeted by his kidnappers because he was Jewish, has
come to symbolize for many French Jews the rising anti-Semitism in the
country.
In January, less than two hours before Dieudonne was due to take the
stage in the western city of Nantes, France's highest administrative
court, the Council of State, overturned a local judge's ruling that the
show should be allowed to go ahead.
The decision was greeted with boos and jeers by hundreds of the
comedian's fans who had assembled outside the Zenith theater in
anticipation of watching a performer the government has branded a
"pedlar of hate."
Disgusting....

French soccer star gets 5-game suspension for Nazi salute
French soccer star Nickolas Anelka has received a
5-game suspension for
doing the Quinelle reverse Nazi salute after scoring a goal in a game in December.
This is from the first link.
West Bromwich Albion forward Nicolas Anelka
has been banned for five matches and fined 80,000 pounds ($133,400) for
making an alleged anti-Semitic gesture in a match in December, the
Football Association said on Thursday.
The Frenchman, who made a
"quenelle" salute after scoring in a 3-3 draw against West Ham United on
Dec. 28, has also been ordered to complete a compulsory education
course.
Here's hoping he falls flat on his face the next time he plays.

Anti-Zionism = Anti-Semitism
For those who still think that there is a difference between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism, please consider the picture below.
And for those who
still don't get it....
These are BDS'ers calling for a boycott of Israel in honor of 'Israel Apartheid Week.' And yes, that's the reverse Nazi salute.

Anelka to be disciplined by British 'Football' Association over Nazi salute
French soccer player Nicolas Anelka is to be
disciplined by the British 'Football' Association for
giving the quenelle reverse Nazi salute (pictured above) in a game last month. This is from the first link.
The Football Association (FA) announced Monday that it would be
charging Nicolas Anelka over making the 'quenelle' gesture, which is
deemed "abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting and/or improper," according to a statement.
The Association, which is the governing authority for soccer in
England, added it was "an aggravated breach in that it included a
reference to ethnic origin and/or race and/or religion or belief."
The ban could be as little as five games, or be extended to different
or more severe forms of punishment by the FA, according to BBC. Anelka has until January 23 to respond formally to the charges.
The FA was practically forced to act - they've been silent for nearly a month.
The FA has remained largely silent until now, despite the media
circus which began immediately after the gesture was made in December.
On December 30, the FA claimed that Anelka would still be eligible for
selection.
BBC reports that following news of the charge,
anti-discrimination group Kick It Out issued a statement expressing
condemning the FA's lengthy silence.
The Board of Deputies of British Jews, a leading Jewish group in the
UK, focused instead on the positive: that the FA had finally broken its
silence.
"We support the FA in treating this incident seriously and we look to
them to follow through with equal determination," it stated. "The board
believes that any behavior on or off the pitch with racist connotations
should be addressed with zero tolerance and should be kicked out by the
football authorities."
The news surfaces just one day after Zoopla, a property website, ended its sponsorship of Anelka's team West Bromwich Albion over the incident.
"Zoopla has been reviewing its position over the past few weeks in
light of the actions of striker Nicolas Anelka during the match against
West Ham over the Christmas period and has decided to focus its
attention on other marketing activities after this season," the company
said.
It would be great if this Jew-hating creep were banned for life, but that's probably hoping for too much.

Another San Antonio Spur from France does the Nazi quenelle with Dieudonne

San Antonio Spurs point guard caught giving Nazi quenelle salute
Now we'll see how the NBA deals with this.
The guy on the right in the picture above is the San Antonio Spurs' star point guard Tony Parker, who is - you guessed it -
French. And he's a friend of Dieudonne, who is pictured on the left....
According to Fox News, the Simon Wiesenthal Center is demanding on
Monday that Parker, the star point guard for the NBA's San Antonio
Spurs, apologize for making the "quenelle," a hand gesture which is
considered the Nazi sign in reverse.
The gesture was made famous in France by controversial comedian
Dieudonné, whom French authorities are considering banning due to what
they say are his repeated insults of the memory of the Holocaust. A
picture of the comedian and Parker doing the quenelle has been
circulating on social media.
The Spurs are at home the rest of this week, but the next time they go to New York or LA, Parker should get quite a greeting.

Oh my: Look who else gives Nazi salute
French soccer player Nicolas Anelka posted the picture above to defend himself from charges of
giving the Quenelle modified Nazi salute on a British soccer pitch on Saturday.
Recognize anyone (Hat Tip:
Sunlight)?
After making the “quenelle” salute,
regarded as a neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic gesture, to celebrate scoring a
goal in the English Premier League on Saturday, Anelka posted a picture
of Obama, rapper Jay Z, and his wife singer Beyonce making a similar
gesture.
But of course, Obama couldn't have done THAT, could he?
Obama and the two star performers were in fact posing for a picture
doing the well-known “brush off the shoulders” hip-hop move at a NYC
fundraiser, which has no connection to the quenelle.
No, of course, they were just brushing off dandruff.
And besides, Anelka has a history of this stuff.
Israel’s Sport 2 TV Channel, which broadcast the game and whose
commentator condemned Anelka for the signal, said the soccer player had
previously been photographed with Dieudonné making the salute.
Hmmm.

French soccer player gives Nazi salute
French soccer player Nicolas Anelka, who plays for the British West Bromwich Albion team, may be facing a
lengthy ban (not lengthy enough) after
giving a Nazi salute as a goal scoring celebration in a British Soccer League game on Saturday.
The 34-year-old striker thrust his straightened right arm downwards while tapping his bicep with the other hand after scoring a goal in a game in Britain between his West Bromwich Albion team and West Ham United.
The gesture - an imitation of a salute frequently used by a French comedian friend of Anelka's who has been convicted several times for anti-Semitic public comments - was immediately and widely condemned.
France's sports minister, Valerie Fourneyron, called it a "shocking, sickening provocation" and said there is "no place for anti-Semitism and inciting hatred on the football pitch".
British media reported that the Football Association was investigating the incident, while the European Jewish Congress demanded English Premier League officials ban Anelka.
"This salute is merely a lesser known Nazi salute and we expect the same kind of punishment to be handed down by the authorities as if Anelka had made the infamous outstretched arm salute," said European Jewish Congress president Moshe Kantor in a statement.
Online, a storm brewed, with some Twitter users calling Anelka, a former member of France's national team, "loathsome" and "racist".
Anelka himself took to Twitter to try to defuse the row, saying in messages in French and in English: "This gesture was just a special dedication to my comedian friend Dieudonne."
West Bromwich Albion's coach, Keith Downing, echoed that in a
post-match press conference in which he said the footballer was "totally
surprised" by the backlash.
Anelka's salute, Downing said, was "dedicated to a French comedian he
knows very, very well... He is totally unaware of what the problems
were or the speculation that has been thrown around."
Either the coach is a fool or he is a damned liar - either way he should be suspended as well. French courts have fined Dieudonne seven times for anti-Semitism - including this gesture - and he may yet be banned from performing in France.
French Interior Minister Manuel Valls released a statement Saturday
in which he said he would seek to ban Dieudonné's performances
altogether.
"Despite a conviction for public defamation, hate speech and racial
discrimination, Dieudonné M’Bala M’Bala no longer seems to recognize any
limits," the statement, read, according to France 24.
"Consequently, the interior minister has decided to thoroughly
examine all legal options that would allow a ban on Dieudonné’s public
gatherings, which no longer belong to the artistic domain, but rather
amount to a public safety risk."
It's long past time.
Much more

Make a Nazi salute, get your head bashed in
Six JDL members in France are under arrest for allegedly
beating up neo-Nazis who were identified from pictures on the internet.
According to the claims, at least 2 of the attacks last weekend
occurred in Lyon and Villeurbanne, and targeted locals who had made a
modified Nazi salute known as quenelle, reports Walla!. The gesture
consists of a lowered straight arm salute with the other arm folded
across the shoulder, and was made famous in France by controversial
comedian Dieudonne M'bala M'bala, who has been accused of anti-Semitism
on numerous occasions.
The gesture has since gained popularity among French anti-Semites,
many of whom photograph themselves making the "modified" Nazi salute in
front of Jewish establishments, holocaust memorial sites and even with
unsuspecting Jewish passersby. The phenomenon is not only popular with
neo-Nazis though - many of those recorded giving the salute have been
young French Muslims.
In September two soldiers in the French Alpinist unit were punished
after being documented making the salute in front of a Paris
synagogue. World Zionist Organization (WZO) declared the salute as a
clear Nazi symbol. The September incident was not the first evidence of Neo-Nazi French soldiers.
In the recent attacks, French newspaper La Parisienne alleges
that roughly 40 members of the LDJ arrived at a Lyon hotel to attack a
worker suspected of being a Neo-Nazi. After an altercation broke out
with hotel security, police showed up and promptly fired tear gas at the
members. Nevertheless, the paper claims JDL members managed to hit and
kidnap another person, not their original target.
Meanwhile on Sunday, the French paper reports six members attacked a
man they identified from Neo-Nazi pictures on the internet, locking him
in the trunk of their car.
Half a year ago the French JDL reportedly sent members to beat up and
hospitalize an Arab in Paris who they said attacked Jews in the city.
Given what a
lousy job the French authorities have done in
preventing anti-Semitic incidents (actually,
they've encouraged it), and the
depth of anti-Semitism in France, I'd be more worried if there were not Jews standing up for their brethren.
