The chief new reality is the de facto coalition among Israel, Egypt, and the Sunni Gulf states. This comprises a potential new source of stability in the region, a stability that has been lacking since the collapse of the Ottoman imperium. The dream of an Arab equivalent of Europe -- a region of independent nation-states united through ethnicity and religion -- lies in ruins. The possibility that it can revived are minimal. Libya, Syria, and Yemen are all failed states and, left to themselves, the UN, or Europe, will remain that way. The fantasy of nation building was punctured by Iraq and Afghanistan. These people are not only incapable of governing themselves, they are incapable of maintaining a viable social system. This role must be filled by an overarching power, as it was by the Ottomans and the European imperialists.
It must be done because we require order. This is not the 19th century. The Jihadis have clearly demonstrated a global reach. They can get at any target anywhere simply by parasitizing well-established Western communications and transportation systems. The sole way to deny them this capability is through control of the failed states that act as incubators for their mujahedin.
...
The two major goals in the Mideast are the defeat of the Jihadis and the denial of Iranian hegemony. The coalition can encompass both, with support from interested Western powers. Despite all the appeasement rhetoric, the Iranian nuclear threat can be shut down in short order. No one has considered the possibility that Israel might utilize tactical nukes fitted to bunker-buster warheads. These would “drill” deeply into the overhanging mountains before detonating, rendering the Iranian nuclear program unsalvageable with little in the way of fallout or residual radiation. This would a bold step on the part of Israel, but existential challenges encourage that kind of thing. Sanction from the Gulf States is likely to be easily obtained.
Iran would attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz, but in the age of fracking, this is nowhere near the threat it once was. Fracking could take up a large part of the oil shortfall within months. There would be a serious economic earthquake, but the West has it coming.
Turning to the Jihadis, the long war, which the U.S. and Europe have proven incapable of maintaining, would probably be best fought by nations in the area. Saudi Arabia has valuable knowledge about these people. Israel has one of the most effective intelligence agencies in the world. Pooling their efforts should bring results that would difficult for outside actors to match. The current collaboration between the Israelis and the Egyptians could act as a model here.
Failed states such as Syria and Yemen are likely to remain non-nations on the Somalia model. As such, they will have to be controlled. Civilized forces will need to enter these degraded pea-patches on an irregular basis on punitive missions, much the same as the British mounted expeditions into Afghanistan and Somalia during the imperial period. (Libya is different, virtually bordering on the West as it does -- it must be brought under control, the sooner the better.)
This is effectively a form of neocolonialism, one that should be carried out by locals with a deep understanding of the stakes. It could of course, be “better,” in the abstract, if Somalis and Syrians could govern themselves, but they can’t, and that’s the end of it. They are a problem, and a new Mideast coalition offers a solution. Such a coalition will share goals with the West: elimination of the Iranian threat, destruction of ISIS and similar Jihadi gangs, and beyond that, a new status quo. While such a solution is far from perfect, it is the best that can be expected from a horrendous situation.
What would the U.S. role be? Basically, everybody’s benign uncle. To act as an honest broker, mentor, and guide for both sides, to ease the natural conflicts between Jewish and Arab interests, to work out strategies and policies, and nudge either side in the right direction.
Even this is asking too much at this point. Obama has, of course, downgraded the U.S. relationship with Israel even as the new modus vivendi has been working itself out -- a remarkable development that he has ignored. There’s nothing that reveals Obama’s utter fatuity more than this.
Of course, if Hillary Clinton becomes President, things might not be any better. What could go wrong?
The Dutch government withdrew the passports of 49 people identified
as suspected jihadists, Minister of Justice Ivo Opstelten said. Speaking
on television show WNL, Opstelten said 41 of those were believed to be
planning to fight in Syria or Iraq, while the other eight had their
passports invalidated to prevent them from re-entering the Netherlands.
The government also froze all assets of twelve of the suspects, and
stopped paying benefits to thirty. Another thirty are also being
investigated criminally.
Assets may be frozen only when there is an extraordinary amount of evidence linking a suspect to terrorism.
Roughly 140 people have lost their Dutch passports since the Netherlands began using the punishment to clamp down on domestic jihadism. Two of the 140 are in custody, while more than thirty have been deported, broadcaster NOS reported.
So there are at least 108 jihadis (give or take a few) alive and well in the Netherlands without their passports and probably thousands more jihadis in the Netherlands with their passports. What could go wrong?
Reports out of Egypt indicate that the Hamas leadership is torn between agreeing to a hudna to plan the next battle and continuing to fight.
Hamas's "military wing," the Al-Qassam Brigades, released a statement presenting its position on the ongoing talks in Egypt.
"The warriors in Gaza are waiting with Allah's help to renew the
fighting, or to return to planning the next campaign. There's no escape.
Either jihad or planning (for the next jihad)," declared the statement.
The remarks leave no doubts that even in the case of a truce, from
Hamas's perspective the lull in fighting would only be an opportunity to
rearm for the next terror war on the Jewish state. This facet is
particularly concerning in light of reports of Israel agreeing to
finance Hamas's officials in Gaza as part of an agreement.
Slamming this proposal, Economics Minister Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home) stated Monday "this is political protection money: you pay us, then we'll shoot you later; you don't pay us, then we'll shoot you right now. ...It is impossible to fight our enemy with one hand and to fund it with the other."
...
Another senior official from the PA delegation told Walla! that there are estimations that the current ceasefire may be extended by an additional 72-hour period.
Revealing Hamas's position on the talks, the official commented
"I'm still not sure that there's a decision by Hamas to end this war."
"There's a great disagreement now between the Hamas leadership
in Qatar headed by Khaled Mashaal, and between the senior members of the
organization in Gaza. Doha (Qatar's capital - ed.) is urging Mashaal
all the time not to agree to Egypt as an intermediary," disclosed the
official.
Political Islam finds a number of examples in the life of Prophet
Muhammad that sanction the use of treaties as a tactical necessity. In
explaining why he signed the Oslo Accord, Yasser Arafat cited a truce
signed by Prophet Muhammad with the Meccan tribe Quraish at Hudaybiyah
in 628 C.E. According to the PLO leader, Prophet
Muhammad had signed the truce when he was not strong enough to win a
war and it was to last for ten years. But when, within two years of the
signing, the Muslims felt that they have gained enough strength to
defeat the Quraish, they broke the truce, attacked the Quraish and
captured Mecca.
A prominent Saudi sheikh, 'Abd Al-Muhsin
Al-'Obikan, also referred to the same treaty while condemning
Hezbollah's actions in Lebanon. He issued the edict against Hezbollah's
actions not because he considered them wrong but because in his view
Muslims, at the moment, are not strong enough to defeat Israel. He said
that since the Muslims have no chance of winning this campaign against
the Jews, a temporary solution is necessary - a truce similar to the
temporary truce of Hudaybiyya.
According to the Saudi Sheikh, Islamic
laws (Shari'a) also "place preconditions and constraints on the
declaring of jihad, which must be considered in order to ensure the
greatest gain for the nation and spare it loss - [that is,] in order to ensure the minimum possible damage and avoid greater damage.
One
of the preconditions regarding jihad [states] that the [the jihad
fighters] must have [sufficient] capability to inflict harm on the enemy
and to repulse its evil, so as to ensure the lives, the property, and
the honor of the Muslims and to safeguard them from aggression or harm,
that is, [from] destruction of property, from violation of honor, and
from bloodshed."
Those who understand the Islamist ethos know that for political Islam, disengagement, a cease-fire, or a pull back on the part of the "enemy" is a sign of its weakness. No one has more experience with this treacherous mindset than the Israelis.
And we keep agreeing to 'cease fires'.... What could go wrong?

Wealth and education makes Muslims more likely to wage Jihad
Forget all those claims that Islamic terrorism is driven by poverty or lack of education. A new study shows that wealth and education make Muslims more likely to wage Jihad.
New research from Queen Mary University of London has found
youth, wealth, and being in full-time education to be risk factors
associated with violent radicalisation. Contrary to popular
views – religious practice, health and social inequalities,
discrimination, and political engagement showed no links.
The pioneering research assessed population prevalence of sympathies
for terrorist acts – a key marker of vulnerability to violent
radicalisation – and their relationship with commonly assumed causes of
radicalisation. The community study surveyed over 600 men and women of
Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Muslim heritage in London and Bradford, aged
18-45.
A small minority of people (2.4%) expressed some sympathy for violent
protest and terrorism, whilst over 6% remained neutral – i.e., they did
not show sympathies but nor did they condemn such acts. However,
sympathy levels increased among those under 20, those in full time
education rather than employment, those born in the UK, and high earners
(£75,000 per year or more).
Interestingly, migrants and those speaking a language other than
English at home, and those who reported having poor physical health,
were all less likely to show sympathies for terrorist acts. In addition,
those who reported suffering from anxiety and depression were no more
likely to display sympathies, provoking some new research questions
about the relationship between radicalisation and mental health.
'Jerusalem is ours, we're coming': Obama's brother joins Hamas
Walid Shoebat presents a slew of photographic evidence that President Obama's brother Malik is a member of Hamas, and that he and the President of the United States are much closer than they are willing to publicly admit. Here are some highlights, but you should definitely check out the evidence (Hat Tip: Bad Blue).
While in Sanaa, Yemein in 2010, President Barack Obama’s brother Malik Obama was at an event billed as the Orphans Development Fund (ODF) Conference. It’s quite the ironic title considering a group photo Malik is in that he has posted to his website.
In the photo, he can be seen wearing a Hamas scarf (keffiyeh) that
bears a well-known Palestinian slogan – ‘Jerusalem is ours – WE ARE
COMING!’ It also includes a map of Palestine that says, ‘From the River
to the Sea!’ In other words, Malik is saying, THERE IS NO ISRAEL.
...
Malik reads and speaks fluent Arabic as do many in his family, like cousin Musa Ismail Obama and uncle Sayyid,
who’ve been to at least one prominent Wahhabist university in Saudi
Arabia. Barack recited the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer
with a ‘first-rate accent’ according to the New York Times’ Nicholas Kristof.
The keffiyeh (or scarf) doesn’t just say, ‘Al Aqsa is ours and is not
their temple’. It also says ‘Innana Qadimun’, which translates to mean
‘We are marching forward’. This famous battle command which is a
reference to the prophecy that some day the Muslim world will march on
Jerusalem and then the trees and stones will cry out, ‘here is a Jew
hiding behind me… come O Muslim, come and kill him’.
...
Those who see this as a matter of guilt by association run into some
major problems. President Barack Obama and Malik are much closer than is
being admitted publicly. In an interview published in GQ Magazine last July, Malik took offense at the characterization of him and the president as being merely ‘half’ brothers:
“Everyone’s referring to us as half, quarter,…step,
things like that,” he says, displeased even by the taste of those words.
“I think that’s like weights and measures. This didn’t even occur to us
until he became president, until he gained prominence. And now we’re
sort of like celebrities.
“But this is a streak of ignorance,” he adds. “Here
in Africa we don’t think of each other as ‘half’ this or that. In an
extended family, someone is your brother even if he is just in your
clan. So I…am Obama.”
A photo of Malik as best man at Barack’s wedding tends to back up the claim:
Read the whole thing. Anyone still need more proof that Barack Hussein Obama sympathizes (at least) with Islamic terrorists?
Video: Jihadis from Ansar Beit al-Maqdis down Egyptian helicopter
In the wee hours of Sunday morning, I reported that Sinai jihadis had obtained surface-to-air missiles. The basis for that report was a report on a downed Egyptian army helicopter in which five Egyptian troops were killed. The Egyptian army claimed it was a result of a technical malfunction, while the jihadi group Ansar Beit al-Maqdis claimed that their men had downed the helicopter by firing a missile. Now, Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has released video proving their claim.
The clip features an audio track of a Koranic verse titled "The hand of
God is what struck." A voiceover belonging to "Abu Osama al-Masri" is
then heard warning the Cairo regime of a similar fate that befell Syria,
Libya, and deposed president Hosni Mubarak.
"Did the United States help [Mubarak]?" the speaker asks sarcastically.
"If you do not cease collaborating with the fighters of Muslims, we will
stand against you and all of your planes won't help because we are the
soldiers of God," the speaker says in the video.
That sure doesn't look like a simulation, nor does it look like a technical malfunction. Hmmm.
Okay, it's only been reported on Twitter, but it sounds likely to be true. Sinai jihadis have deployed surface-to-air missiles for the first time. I'm going to post a series of tweets by Michael Hanna below. Michael is a senior fellow at the Century Foundation in New York City.
Big news MT @RenaNetjes: Fmr general Saif AlYazl to CBC: Russian stinger 2 rocket has been fired on military plane in Sinai, for first time
— Michael Hanna (@mwhanna1) January 25, 2014
It'll be overshadowed by the other major news in Egypt, but successful deployment by Sinai jihadis of surface to air missiles is a big deal.
— Michael Hanna (@mwhanna1) January 25, 2014
.@omar_dawoud@RenaNetjes I assume he just means Russian version of shoulder-held SAMs and was using Stinger as shorthand.

Video: Abu Mazen applauds following call for Jihad in Jerusalem
PA Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "There is a message
we must convey to those who kidnapped the Yarmouk [Palestinian] refugee
camp [in Syria] with baseless false slogans, pretexts, and excuses. We
say to them: 'The venue for resistance and Jihad is not the Yarmouk
refugee camp. Whoever wants resistance, whoever wants Jihad, the
direction for Jihad is well-known and clear. Everyone knows it. I don't
think that there is anyone who doesn't know where Jihad is supposed to
take place. [applause from the audience] I don't think that there is
anyone who doesn't know to where we should direct efforts or where to
concentrate the masses. I don't think there is anyone who doesn't know
this. Those who send young people to Syria or elsewhere to die for a
misdirected cause must stop and understand that Jerusalem is still
waiting. Jerusalem is the direction, Jerusalem is the address. [Abbas
and audience applaud.] A compass that does not point to Jerusalem,
Muhammad has nothing to do with it. Put an end to your ignorance, and
recognize that you [those fighting in Syria] are nothing more than small
tools in a game [controlled by] malicious hands that are running a
filthy game to crush the Ummah (Islamic Nation) and diminish it, and
deflect the compass, away from its true direction."
[Official PA TV Live, Jan. 13, 2014]
Let's go to the videotape.
This is the scumbag with whom Obama and Kerry want Israel to make 'peace.'
Tunisian girls have been sent to Syria to have sex with opposition jihadis. And no, this doesn't have anything to do with love. It's a sex jihad.
Last Thursday, during an address to the National Constituent
Assembly, Tunisian Interior Minister Lotfi Bin Jeddo announced that
Tunisian girls who had traveled to Syria to perform “sex jihad” had
returned after being sexually “swapped between 20, 30, and 100 rebels
and they come back bearing the fruit of sexual contacts [from
pregnancies to diseases] in the name of sexual jihad and we are silent,
doing nothing and standing idle.”
Several video interviews with Tunisian females who went to the sex jihad further testify to the veracity of this phenomenon.
For example, 19-year-old Lamia, upon returning, confessed how she was
made to have sex with countless men—including Pakistanis, Afghanis,
Libyans, Tunisians, Iraqis, Saudis, Somalis, and a Yemeni, all in the
context of the “sex jihad, and that she and many other women were
abused, beaten, and forced to do things “that contradict all sense of
human worth.”
Now back in Tunisia, Lamia has been to a doctor finding that she is
five months pregnant. Both she and her unborn are carrying the Aids
virus (read her whole story).
Other interviewed women
have told of how they were “fooled,” or how their husbands (they being
one of four wives) divorced and sent them to Syria for the sex jihad,
with assurances that they would be guaranteed paradise in the
afterlife. One 16-year-old explained how her father ordered her to have sex with several jihadi “liberators.”
Due to the severity of this matter, since March, 6,000 Tunisians were
banned from travelling to Syria; 86 individuals suspected of forming
“cells” to send Tunisian youth to Syria have been arrested.
Back in April, Sheikh Othman Battikh, former Mufti of Tunisia, said
before reporters that, “For Jihad in Syria, they are now pushing girls
to go there. 13 young girls have been sent for sexual jihad. What is
this? This is called prostitution. It is moral educational corruption.”
He was dismissed from his position as Mufti of Tunisia days later.
Inevitable: Al-Qaeda calls for jihad against Israel
Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri has issued a video calling for the overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria to be followed by jihad against Israel.
In a 22-minute recording, posted on Islamist websites on Thursday to
mark 65 years since Israel's founding, Zawahri also said the only way to
solve the Palestinian problem was through Jihad (Islamic holy war).
"Lions of the Levant, unite around this honorable goal and rise above sectarian affiliations," Zawahri said.
"America,
its agents and allies want you to shed your blood and the blood of your
children and women to bring down the criminal Baathist regime, and then
set up a government loyal to them and to safeguard Israel's security,"
he added.
The recording came one day after Syrian government forces, backed by Lebanese Hezbollah fighters, captured the border town of Qusair from rebels. It appeared on the Mujahideen al-Ansar website, which carries statements from al-Qaida leaders.
...
Zawahri warned Syrians not to play into the hands of the United
States which, he said, wanted to turn their Jihad into a "Western tool
against Iran."
He said that fighters seeking to topple Assad in Syria had rekindled hope that one day that might happen.
"There is no solution for Palestine except Jihad," Zawahri said.
"Every
free Muslim in Palestine should unite with his Muslim brothers to
implement Sharia (Islamic law) and rule by it, and make it a reference
above all references, and to liberate Palestine in order to set up an
Islamic state, even if the West hates that and calls it terrorism and
extremism," he added.
And you believed Obama's claim that al-Qaeda is no more, didn't you? Or do you just believe that what al-Zawahri has in mind is a 'jihad for peace'?
For those who have forgotten just what Eltahaway did, please go to that last link. It's quite entertaining.
Eltahaway has already admitted her guilt - at least outside the court room.
After all this agitation, Eltahawy has now decided that it was
finally time to do what one could have expected from a prominent writer
long ago, and she has taken to the pages of the Guardian’s Comment is Free (CiF) website to make her case in writing.
It is quite obviously a weak case. The headline of her post announces “If anti-Muslim ads are protected, so must be my free speech right to protest”
– but the text reveals that even Eltahawy is aware that her act of
vandalism wasn’t really an exercise of free speech, because she admits:
“I broke the law, yes.”
But Eltahawy adds defiantly: “So what? I broke it to make a point of
principle. Eleven years after the 9/11 attacks, American Muslims are
still being bullied and vilified.”
Indeed, Eltahawy tries hard to make the case that there is at least
some “coincidental correlation” between the ads that denounce violent
jihad as savage and various incidents of anti-Muslim violence and
bigotry.
CIA released Jihadi mastermind known for encouraging 'lone wolf' attacks to Syria
A Jihadi mastermind who is known for encouraging 'lone wolf' attacks was allegedly released to the Syrian intelligence services by the CIA in 2005, according to a report by Newsweek's Paris bureau chief and Middle East editor Christopher Dickey.
Abu Musab al-Suri was held in a Syrian prison until January 2012 until he was released by the Assad regime.
Here's a radio interview with Dickey about al-Suri.
The video is a response to Rabbi Michael White and Rabbi Jerome
Davidson's article in the Jewish Week called Hate Speech Has No Place in
a Synagogue dated Tue, 04/09/2013, which led the cancellation of a
speech by Pamela Geller. This is also a message to her critics and those
critical of her message.
They blocked Pamela Geller of Atlas
Shrugs website by saying that her anti-Jihad ads are hate speech and a
hate crime, but are they? Or is she just telling the truth about Jihad
and terrorism.
Geller's adverts don't target Muslims but targets
Jihadists who attack Israel, Buddhists, Christians, atheists, Hindus,
and other groups. Most of her ads are in response to anti-Israel ads
that call for the unfunding of Israel and making false claims against
the only Jewish nation state in the word.
Are Rabbi Michael White and Rabbi Jerome Davidson ignorant of what the Quran says about Jews, Christians and others, like this;
Qur'an 3:32—Say: Obey Allah and the Apostle; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers.
Qur'an 5:51—O
you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends;
they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a
friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the
unjust people.
Qur'an 9:29—Fight
those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that
forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor
acknowledge the Religion of Truth, from among the People of the Book,
until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves
subdued.
Qur'an 9:30—And
the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The
Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they
imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy
them; how they are turned away!
Qur'an 9:73—O Prophet! strive
hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to
them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination.
Qur'an
9:111—Surely Allah has bought of the believers their persons and their
property for this, that they shall have the garden; they fight in
Allah's way, so they slay and are slain; a promise which is binding on
Him in the Taurat and the Injeel and the Quran; and who is more faithful
to his covenant than Allah? Rejoice therefore in the pledge which you
have made; and that is the mighty achievement.
Qur'an 9:123—O
you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and
let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who
guard (against evil).
Qur'an 47:35—Be
not weary and fainthearted, crying for peace, when ye should be
uppermost: for Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for
your (good) deeds.
Qur'an 48:29—Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are severe against disbelievers, and merciful among themselves.
Qur'an
98:6—Verily, those who disbelieve (in the religion of Islam, the Qur'an
and Prophet Muhammad) from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and
Christians) and Al-Mushrikun will abide in the Fire of Hell. They are
the worst of creatures.
Sahih Muslim 33—It has been narrated on
the authority of Abdullah b. Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: I
have been commanded to fight against people till they testify that there
is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and they
establish prayer, and pay Zakat and if they do it, their blood and
property are guaranteed protection on my behalf except when justified by
law, and their affairs rest with Allah.
Sahih Muslim 4366—It
has been narrated by 'Umar b. al-Khattab that he heard the Messenger of
Allah (may peace be upon him) say: I will expel the Jews and Christians
from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim.
Al-Bukhari,
Al-Adab al-Mufrad 1103—Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah
bless him and grant him peace, said, "Do not give the People of the
Book the greeting first. Force them to the narrowest part of the road."
Sahih
al-Bukhari, Ch. 88—Narrated Ibn Umar that the Prophet said, "My
livelihood is under the shade of my spear, and he who disobeys my orders
will be humiliated by paying Jizya."
Are White and Davidson like
the old Nazsi judenrats who sided against their own Jewish and Israeli
people hoping that nothing will happen to them...or are they just stupid
and ignorant about what Islam teaches and says about Jews and the
Jewish people, not only Jewish people but all other people, like Hindu,
Buddhist, atheist, Christian people? Are White, Davidson and their ilk
the new Judenräte?
'While many ... feel strongly about their Zionism, few have the courage to publicly express their opinions'
Caroline Glick explains how moral relativism is silencing American Jewish supporters of Israel.
It was not a coincidence that the Times failed to mention why
Morsi's castigation of Jews as apes and pigs was so familiar to Muslim
audiences.
The Islamic sources of Muslim
Brotherhood Jew hatred, and indeed, hatred of Jews by Islamic leaders
from both the Sunni and Shi'ite worlds, is largely overlooked by the
liberal ideological camp. And the overwhelming majority of the American
Jewish leadership is associated with the liberal ideological camp.
If
the Times acknowledged that the Jew hatred espoused by Morsi and his
colleagues in the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as by their Shi'ite
colleagues in the Iranian regime and Hezbollah is based on the Koran,
they would have to acknowledge that Islamic Jew hatred and other bigotry
is not necessarily antithetical to mainstream Islamic teaching. And
that is something that the Times, like its fellow liberal institutions,
is not capable of acknowledging.
They are
incapable of acknowledging this possibility because considering it would
implicitly require a critical study of jihadist doctrine. And a
critical study of jihadist doctrine would show that the doctrine of
jihad, or Islamic holy war, subscribed to by the Muslim Brotherhood and
its affiliates, as well as by the Iranian regime and Hezbollah and their
affiliates, is widely supported, violent, bigoted, evil and dangerous
to the free world.
And that isn't even the
biggest problem with studying the doctrine of jihad. The biggest problem
is that a critical study of the doctrine of jihad would force liberal
institutions like the New York Times and the institutional leadership of
the American Jewish community alike to abandon the reigning dogma of
the liberal ideological camp - moral relativism.
Moral
relativism is based on a refusal to call evil evil and a concomitant
willingness to denigrate truth if truth requires you to notice evil.
Since
pointing out the reality of the danger the jihadist doctrines
propagated by the likes of the Muslim Brotherhood involves the implicit
demand that people make distinctions between good and evil and side with
good against evil, moral relativists - that is most liberals - cannot
contend with jihad.
This is why the American
Jewish leadership refused to join Rand Paul and his conservative
Republican colleagues in the Senate and demand an immediate cessation of
US military aid to the Muslim Brotherhood-controlled Egyptian military
even after the evidence of the Brotherhood's genocidal Jew hatred was
splashed across the front page of the Times.
It
is the dominance of moral relativism in liberal institutions like the
New York Times that make even the most apologetic expose of the Muslim
Brotherhood a major event. And it is the dominance of liberal
orthodoxies in the mainstream Jewish community that makes it all but
impossible for Jewish leaders to speak up against the Muslim
Brotherhood, despite the manifest danger its genocidal hatred of Jews
poses not only for Israel, but for Jews everywhere.
It
is bad enough that liberal Jewish leaders won't speak out against the
Koranic-inspired evil that characterizes the ideology of the Muslim
Brotherhood. What is worse is what their own morally relative blindness
causes them to do.
San Francisco bus ad: 'Killing Jews is worship that draws us closer to Allah'
The ad above is appearing on buses in San Francisco, and this time it was not placed by the jihadis. It was placed by Pam Geller's American Freedom Defense Initiative and it's meant to show the reality of jihad. The ads have San Francisco Leftists bouncing off the walls.
Several San Francisco city leaders, including District Attorney George Gascon, have condemned the campaign.
“San Francisco won’t tolerate Islamophobic bigotry,” said Gascon.
“The only thing necessary for evil to prevail is for good people to look
the other way and do nothing.”
Board of Supervisors President David Chiu said the American Freedom
Defense Initiative is made of “well-known hate extremists” and said he
is introducing a resolution at Tuesday’s board meeting to denounce the
ads.
Geller said the ads were a response to another bus ad campaign earlier this year by the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
That campaign sought to disassociate the word “jihad” with violence
and reclaim its meaning as “the struggle,” which is a central tenet of
Islam.
Some Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee, including Mark Udall of Colorado and Ron Wyden of Oregon, were miffed that John Brennan
had not read the 300-page executive summary of a Senate report on the
CIA's interrogation program before meeting with them recently.
"Not only was he not prepared to
discuss the important findings, but he hadn't reviewed the report at
all," Udall said in a statement last week, adding that he was "deeply
disappointed." The senator said he wanted Brennan
to arrive Thursday prepared to answer questions about the report.
Brennan will, National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said
Monday.
Republicans
plan to grill Brennan about leaks of classified information and the
administration's characterization of the intelligence surrounding
September's attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, that
left four Americans dead.
...
"There's no indication of any trouble" for Brennan's confirmation, Vietor said.
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004.
