So glad I fly through Europe....
UPDATE 6:19 PM BOSTON TIME
The Sheraton Hotel near the airport has also been evacuated and two more people have been arrested.
ALERT https://t.co/1jjhY4y8Qk Spokesman says Sheraton Hotel adjacent to Amsterdam airport also evacuated due to 'suspicious situation' - AFP
The Europeans are so totally clueless about airport security it's pathetic (not to mention that in many airports, you have to wonder whose side the security people are on).
It's come to this: Dutch government worried about terrorists'violent Jewish settlers'
The Dutch government is warning its citizens who travel in Judea and Samaria to be wary of 'Palestinian' terrorism 'violent Jewish settlers.'
The travel warning was placed online last month on the website of the Dutch central government for the Palestinian Territories.
“There are security risks for traveling all over the West Bank
including east Jerusalem,” the warning reads. “Be alert when traveling
there. Demonstrations and violent incidents occur regularly. Jewish
colonists live in illegal West Bank settlements and organize
demonstrations regularly around and on the road. These colonists are
sometimes violent. At times, these colonists throw stones at
Palestinians and international vehicles so be alert when traveling
around settlements of Jewish colonists, especially in the hills around
Nablus and Hebron.”
In referencing violence by Palestinians, the text states:
“Palestinians demonstrate regularly against occupation in various
places,” adding that “these demonstrations sometimes involve violence.
There are always Israeli soldiers present during demonstrations. Avoid
demonstrations. Recently, there have been violent incidents in the
border area between east and west Jerusalem. They are aimed at Israelis.
Be alert in those areas and avoid public transportation.”
The warning also applies to the Gaza Strip, where Dutch nationals are
advised not to go due to risk of being shot in fights between various
Islamist groups. “In addition, there exists a risk of becoming a victim
of an Israeli aerial attack,” the warning adds.
Trying to recall the last time anyone died as a result of 'violentJewishsettlers' throwing stones. (Hint: There haven't been any).
The Dutch government withdrew the passports of 49 people identified
as suspected jihadists, Minister of Justice Ivo Opstelten said. Speaking
on television show WNL, Opstelten said 41 of those were believed to be
planning to fight in Syria or Iraq, while the other eight had their
passports invalidated to prevent them from re-entering the Netherlands.
The government also froze all assets of twelve of the suspects, and
stopped paying benefits to thirty. Another thirty are also being
investigated criminally.
Assets may be frozen only when there is an extraordinary amount of evidence linking a suspect to terrorism.
Roughly 140 people have lost their Dutch passports since the Netherlands began using the punishment to clamp down on domestic jihadism. Two of the 140 are in custody, while more than thirty have been deported, broadcaster NOS reported.
So there are at least 108 jihadis (give or take a few) alive and well in the Netherlands without their passports and probably thousands more jihadis in the Netherlands with their passports. What could go wrong?
One of Holland's largest pension funds has refused a demand that it divest from three Israeli banks because they finance construction in the disputed territories. The divestment demand came from teflon-coated anti-Semite Desmond Tutu.
ABP, the Netherlands’ €325bn civil service pension fund, has said it
will not divest from three Israeli banks due to their alleged
involvement in the so-called occupied territories of the West Bank.
In
a statement, the board responded to an open letter from Desmond Tutu,
the former Anglican archbishop for South Africa, who recently waded into
the debate over whether the Dutch pension fund should remain invested
in the banks.
The board said it would stick with its existing
policy for responsible investment and that, “based on objective and
rational criteria, the investments are not in violation of national or
international legislation”.
Tutu, a Nobel Peace Prize winner,
argued that ABP had in effect contributed to human rights violations
through its €68m investment in Bank Hapoalim, Bank Leumi and Bank
Mizrahi-Tefahot.
The ABP board discussed Tutu’s letter today, together with a petition calling for divestment signed by more than 1.7m people.
The petition was organised by Avaaz, an online civic organisation promoting activism.
The
former archbishop’s letter comes as a report commissioned by Avaaz
claimed that roughly 50% of the Dutch public believes ABP’s commitment
to the banks is “irresponsible”.
Of the 1,000 respondents to the
survey, 10% said ABP’s stakes in the banks were of no concern, while
approximately 40% said they had no opinion on the matter.
The
survey asked: “If the directors keep ABP’s investments in Israeli banks
that support the settlement of Palestinian land by Israeli settlers,
would you view their decision as responsible or irresponsible?”
...
Earlier this year, the €152bn healthcare scheme PFZW made the controversial decision to divest from five Israeli banks, including those in which ABP is invested.
Israel’s Immigration and Absorption Ministry presented its findings to
the Knesset this week that more than two thirds of French Jews are
considering leaving the country. The findings were presented in the
context of an Israeli government effort to increase immigration from
France; however they raise serious concerns that a prolonged exposure to
increasingly virulent forms of anti-Semitism are taking their toll on
the sense of security felt by Jewish communities in France and across
Europe.
...
Of the two-thirds considering leaving, half (or one-third overall)
are looking to Israel as their destination. Nearly 60% of French Jews
have close relatives living in Israel.
The past year saw a spike in French
Jewish immigration to Israel, from about 2000 per year during
2008-2012, to over 3,300 in 2013. France is currently home to the third
largest Jewish community in the world, after Israel and the United
States. The majority of immigrants to Israel have been the young – just out of school – and retirees.
In December of last year, the Jewish Agency’s envoy in Paris, Ariel Kandel, observed,
“The French Jews are very Zionist, and that’s not a new thing,” and
that “about 70 percent of them have visited Israel at least once – a
much higher rate than anywhere else.” Kandel also cited the Toulouse
Jewish school shooting, which occurred two years ago this week, as a factor leading to last year’s spike in immigration from France.
Western Europe as a whole saw a 35% increase in aliyah in 2013, driven
by a 46% increase from Belgium and a 57% increase from the Netherlands. A
poll released in November indicated that a full 75% of self-identifying
Jews in Western European countries have considered emigrating because
of anti-Semitism.
I don't know why any Jew would want to live in Europe today.
Dutch soccer team slammed for leaving Jewish player out of UAE trip
The Dutch soccer team Vitesse is facing criticism at home and abroad for leaving home a Jewish player who was not granted a visa to play two matches in the United Arab Emirates.
Two Dutch politicians and several media criticized the team Vitesse
from Arnhem over the weekend for agreeing to play in Abu Dhabi despite
the refusal Saturday to let Dan Mori into the country for matches
against two German teams.
Geert Wilders, leader of the rightist, pro-Israel Party for Freedom,
on Sunday called the team cowardly on his Twitter account. “Vitesse
shouldn’t have gone to the United Arab Emirates to protest the refusal
to let Mori in. They are now accepting the emirates’ Jew-hate.
Cowardly.”
Pieter Omtzigt, a lawmaker for the CDA party, told Dutch media on
Monday that Vitesse should behave like Dutch lawmakers, who refuse to
visit places which try to dictate the make-up of parliamentary
delegations.
Ester Bal, communications director for Vitesse, said the team “stays
away from politics and religion. We have always done this. We are a
soccer club.”
Management said in a statement that the decision to go to Abu Dhabi
was made because “the team had obligations and wanted to prepare to the
best of our abilities for future matches.”
Recall that in 2009, Israeli tennis player Shahar Pe'er was barred from playing in neighboring Dubai. There was such an uproar over her exclusion that Pe'er was allowed into the 2010 version of the same tournament and reached the semi-finals. Something tells me that Mori won't be allowed to play in the Emirates next year either because no one stood up for him.
The 'Palestinians' have decided that they would rather live in filth than use a sewage treatment plant that is paid for and owned by Israel in 'east' Jerusalem. Or at least the 'Palestinian Authority' has so decided. Under pressure from the 'Palestinians' and their own government, the Dutch engineering firm Royal HaskoningDHV has withdrawn from the project.
“Royal HaskoningDHV has today advised the client it has decided to
terminate the contract for the Kidron waste water treatment plant
project,” the firm announced on its Web site. “The project is in the
early stages of the preliminary design phase.”
Royal HaskoningDHV
carries out its work with the highest regard for integrity and in
compliance with international laws and regulations,” the company said.
“In the course of the project, and after due consultation with various
stakeholders, the company came to understand that future involvement in
the project could be in violation of international law.”
“This has led to the decision of Royal HaskoningDHV to terminate its involvement in the project.”
The
move was applauded by the Palestinian Authority. Hanan Ashrawi, an
executive committee member of the Palestine Liberation Organization,
hailed the Dutch firm’s decision. According to Ashrawi, the Dutch
government had pressured the company to withdraw from the project.
I hope they get Typhoid fever. Of course, if they did, we would probably help them to control it.
The 41-year-old linesman reportedly beaten up by three football players of Moroccanorigin aged 15 and 16
after a football match in Almere at the weekend has died.
Richard Nieuwenhuizen was chased and attacked by the youths from Amsterdam
club Nieuw Sloten after an amateur football match between the Amsterdammers and
Almere club Buitenboys.
He became ill a couple of hours after the attack and was taken to hospital
where he was put into an artificial coma. He was declared dead on Monday
afternoon.
...
The Dutch football association is investigating the attack. It issued a
statement on Monday evening saying 'it is too insane for words that someone
enjoying a hobby is confronted with such aggression.
Insane? Yes. But so is suicide bombing.
P.S. If anyone finds this story in English language mainstream media in Europe or the US, please post a link in the comments. I doubt you will find it.
A Dutch news show has stirred controversy by airing a fake satirical
video of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu bragging to US
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about civilian deaths in Gaza.
“We
are trying to maximize the number of civilian casualties. We prefer
that,” Netanyahu is seen telling Clinton in the video, which the
broadcaster Vara aired on November 21, as part of the satirical corner
of the prime-time news show De Wereld Draait Door. Approximately 1.5 million viewers watch the show every evening.
The video, made to appear genuine through seamless splicing of sound
bites from previous speeches by Netanyahu, was spread by thousands of
Twitter and Facebook users who advertised it under the headline
“Netanyahu finally tells the truth.”
“We are conducting these surgical operations against schools, mosques,
hospitals, children,” Netanyahu is heard saying, adding: “This is
something I don’t have to explain to Americans.”
Let's go to the videotape.
I wonder what would happen if there were a video on Israeli television that claimed that Dutch Islamists were trying to murder Geert Wilders. Just satire of course. Maybe LATMA or Eretz Nehederet could try it.
The Dutch government’s attitude toward Israel may change radically after the upcoming elections. Polls indicate that the two largest parties will be the Liberals of Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the rapidly increasing extreme left Socialist Party (SP.) Each of them is likely to win about 30 seats. The largest parties of the past decades, Labor and the Christian Democrats, will decline further and are expected to lose respectively about 10 and five seats from their present 30 and 21.
...
The possibility of a new government led by SP leader Emile Roemer including Labor, the small Green Party and the left-wing liberals of D66 cannot be excluded. It is likely to be strongly anti-Israel. SP says in its election program that The Netherlands will support a two-state solution. This is eyewash to look halfway respectable. SP also states that it will recognize an independent Palestinian state and make efforts for it to become a member of the United Nations.
If SP succeeds, The Netherlands will support an international dialogue with all representatives of the Palestinians. This means that for SP, Hamas, with its platform promoting genocide of Jews, is an acceptable discussion partner. There is no word of rebuke in the SP platform for these potential mass murderers.
Furthermore, SP says that “As long as Israel continues to build illegally houses in occupied territory The Netherlands will condemn this and pressure the EU to suspend the association agreement with Israel which gives it fiscal advantages in exports to the countries of the EU.”
The party-program of the Green Party goes in the same direction of anti-Israel bias. It falsely claims to base itself on international law. If that were so it should have tried to bring Iran’s leaders before an international court because of their transgression of the UN genocide convention. The same steps should be promoted with respect to the Hamas leaders, advocating mass murder.
Yet the Greens have no intention of doing so. They, however, want to “search for support to suspend the association agreement with the EU if Israel continues to break international law and human rights.”
In case you're wondering, Geert Wilders' party is predicted to come in third and to be in opposition. They still oppose shchita, and advocate for an even more radical law than the one that narrowly failed last year.
On Wednesday, I reported on an anti-Semitic game being marketed by Dutch state television. That game was quickly removed this week, after it had been sold for a year and a half.
According to a VPRO statement, “In November 2010, the VPRO platform for younger viewers, Dorst, published on the website and in the TV guide a satirical item, The Settlers of the West Bank, a commentary over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict shaped in the form of a well-known board game, The Settlers of Catan... The Settlers of the West Bank is now, almost one year and half years later, the subject of discussion on whether it contains elements of an anti- Semitic nature... The VPRO finds the political question relevant and will obligingly discuss the borders of satire.
But it has no desire or need to discuss alleged anti-Semitism through this item.
Therefore, the VPRO took off the game The Settlers of the West Bank from the Dorst site.”
Ronny Naftaniel, the head of The Hague-based Center for Information and Documentation on Israel, told the Post, “This game had to be removed immediately when the first complaints about it were made. The game is based on biases and is unacceptable for Dutch Jews and all Dutchmen. It’s just a shame that VPRO is removing it after The Jerusalem Post wrote about it. VPRO should have done it by themselves.”
In an email to the Post, Benjamin Teuber, the director of marketing and business development for the Catan board game company, wrote, “The Catan company, which is the licensed operator of The Settlers of Catan, was not informed about this project and if we were, we would not have issued approval. We expressly distance ourselves from its content.”
He added that the game crossed over the border of respectable satire, and that “it is regrettable that the Catan brand, which stands for cooperation and peacefulness, was misused for such purposes.”
The game is now gone. And of course, now, no one knows how it got there in the first place, so new games (not literally maybe, but other new anti-Semitic products) will continue to come to market because no one is punished for introducing them.
Dutch state television marketing anti-Semitic game
Dutch state television is marketing a downloadable game since last month, which features an Anne Frank card, which allows players to 'colonize' the 'West Bank,' and a Jewish stinginess card that allows players to gain resources.
A VPRO representative said the game was not anti-Semitic, but rather a thought-provoking satire.
The game, titled “The Settlers of the West Bank,” is based on the multiplayer hit “The Settlers of Catan,” first released in Germany in 1995. The Dutch variant appeared in 2010 on the VPRO website – a self-described liberal-Protestant network.
In the game, the user is a settler trying to expand his community and mine diamonds and Dead Sea mud while producing textile and bulldozers. Players can use the “Jewish stinginess” card to force competitors to hand over resources. The instructions refer three times to the “nation’s typical mercantile spirit.”
Terrorist attacks are described as a natural result of settlement expansion. “Saw wood, and you get wood chips: Not everyone’s happy with the Israeli settlements. Least of all the terrorist,” the instructions explain. “Terrorist attacks” cost players resources.
The settler may also use the “Mahmoud Ahmadinejad card” to avoid losing resources to a terrorist and simultaneously draw resources from other players. The Anne Frank House is a “winning point” for the settler.
The game first appeared on VPRO’s website for younger viewers and was prominently reposted last month. The network explained the reposting by saying: “It’s one of the items everyone loves to hate.”
But wait - it gets worse. Look what 'our' side is saying:
“Criticism of the settlement movement cannot appear in the form of anti-Semitic stereotypes,” said Joël Serphos, chairman of the Dutch youth organization CiJO – For Israel, for Peace. Serphos added that this “gave the wrong impression, that criticism on settlements is rooted in anti-Semitism.”
Why would anyone think it isn't rooted in anti-Semitism? The 'Palestinians' don't distinguish. They label Haifa and Jaffe and Acre and Tel Aviv 'settlements' just as much as Ofra, Shilo and Beit El. It's not the dismemberment of the 'settlements' that they are seeking - it's the extirpation of the Jewish state.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science provided 89 percent of VPRO’s budget of 51,973,000 euros in 2010.
“This funding makes the Netherlands the largest financier of hate incitement among youth in Europe,” Samuels said.
Death threats for Dutch satirist over hit song Do the burqa
A Dutch satirist has declined to perform his hit song Do the burqa on stage due to death threats (Hat Tip: Jack W).
Dutch satirist Johan Vlemmix has decided not to perform his latest hit Do the Burqa onstage following death threats.
The song, a carnival parody to the music of Van McCoy's Do the Hustle, is a huge success on YouTube, so much so that the video provider has switched off the comments facility. Too many people were posting angry reactions saying that they had been insulted.
The images show a woman wearing a T-shirt which can be instantly converted into a burqa, be it one that does not cover the breasts.
Mr Vlemmix said he had expected some commotion over his song: "I'm not exactly dumb." But he had failed to anticipate the virulence of the reactions: "I really meant it as a joke. Because the burqa is banned in the Netherlands I thought it was fun to offer a carnival alternative for it: the burqa shirt."
Carnival, a colourful, musical and noisy feast celebrated annually in the southern half of the Netherlands, is often used to mock authorities and make fun of social issues by people dressed up or disguised in humorous creations.
...
He has not only stopped performing the song onstage, Johan Vlemmix has also cancelled the option to order the shirts via his website. But he stops short at pulling the video from Youtube: "I made it because I was convinced it was right, and I refuse to take it down."
The video (or at least a portion of it) is available at the link above. It's not appropriate for Orthodox Jews (although there's nothing wrong with the song, which has been played at Orthodox Jewish weddings for years).
The Dutch government said Wednesday it will study new standards for ritual slaughter to satisfy animal rights activists without infringing on ancient Jewish and Muslim traditions, and will not ban the practice outright.
The announcement that a commission will be appointed to draw up a tightened regime for supervising the slaughter followed a political deadlock in the Dutch parliament.
By a wide margin, the lower house approved a ban earlier this year on the traditional method of cutting the animal's throat without stunning it first. After an outcry that the ban would violate religious freedoms, support evaporated when the bill was sent to the upper house this month for approval.
Undersecretary for Agriculture Henk Bleker's office said the commission will draw up standards on how long animals can remain conscious and on educating slaughterers. It will include registration and quality requirements for slaughterhouses.
A small animal rights party proposed the ban and it won backing from a large anti-Islam political party and a solid majority of Dutch voters, leading to easy passage in Parliament's Second Chamber.
But Christian political parties opposed it from the start out of concern for religious minorities. After protests from Jewish and Muslim groups, both local and international, centrist parties on the left and right reversed their position in the Senate. They said reforms to slaughtering practices are a higher priority than the relatively small number of religious slaughters.
The Czech Republic’s move comes three days after U.N. negotiators quietly circulated a draft of the final declaration that will be adopted at the conclusion of Durban III. Although the writing had been on the wall for a very long time, the alarm bells could no longer be ignored. The “political declaration” focuses particularly on what it calls “victims of racism.” And the Durban Declaration emanating from South Africa names only one state victimizer – Israel. The Palestinian people are listed as victims of racism.
The Zionism-is-racism mantra, the Durban formula being its most recent incarnation, has been circulating around the U.N. for decades. It is the cornerstone of the effort to delegitimize the Jewish state and invoke lethal politics when other weaponry falls short. These days, the campaign is headquartered in a working group of the U.N. General Assembly that is tasked with squaring the circle: reaffirming the contemptible message of the Durban Declaration under a veil of human rights gibberish.
The Czech Republic’s diplomats, however, can read. The current draft of the final declaration for Durban III says that the U.N. must “incorporate the implementation of the Durban Declaration into the human rights mainstreaming in the UN system” and demands an intensification of “efforts at the local, national, regional and international levels aimed at the full and effective implementation” of instruments like the Durban Declaration and beyond.
And there’s more. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation managed to insert a demand for “cultural diversity, solidarity and harmony.” That’s the typical U.N. prescription for stifling free speech—avoiding any action to stop Syrian butchers, for example—and generally keeping criticism of Islamic anti-human rights predilections off the table.
The countries from the so-called non-aligned movement, which comprises 115 developing countries, have also incorporated into the political declaration a claim that “poverty,” “underdevelopment,” and “economic disparities” are “closely associated with racism and racial discrimination.” That’s a familiar form of extortion that starts by labeling donor countries racists.
The Czech Republic rightly decided they’d had enough. The next round of "negotiations," at which Western states are dressed-down and manipulated by the racism charge coming from the Islamic world and others, will be held at U.N. headquarters on July 28.
Norway, where a double terror attack took place on Friday, is among the leaders of the Durban III conference.
On Saturday, the Netherlands and Italy announced their withdrawal. The Netherlands had already warned previously that it would not participate unless the final declaration disavowed the condemnation of Israel in the original Durban conference. Obviously, that's not going to happen.
I received this by email.
Italy and The Netherlands announced over the weekend that they will not take part in the notorious United Nations Durban III meeting scheduled for September 22, 2011 in New York City.
Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini pointed out that “The [Durban] Process has been transformed … into a tribunal for accusations against Israel.”
As the main reason for boycotting Durban III the Italian foreign minister pointed to the anti-Israel elements of the Durban Declaration and its progeny. In the past few days, UN negotiators - who are currently drafting a final political declaration for Durban III - signalled rejection of Czech, Italian and Dutch proposals to denounce the anti-Israel portions of the original Durban Declaration. The Italians had asked that Durban III “explicitly recognize that past references, in the context of the Durban Process, to the specific situation of the Middle East are not part of the international commitment against racial discrimination.”
According to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Netherlands, Italy and the Czech Republic all wanted to include in Durban III a statement that "all participating states emphatically distance themselves from the linking of subjects that have nothing to do with the fight against racism." Their request was ignored by conference organizers, who are largely being driven by Arab and Islamist states, as well as South Africa and UN High Commissioner Navi Pillay, herself a native of Durban.
The real question is why the United States is allowing this conference to take place on American soil. Oh, I forgot. The US has a President whose middle name is Hussein who insists on pandering to Muslims. Yes, I know that the US is not participating in the conference. It's 13 and a half months before the Presidential election.
Holland won't support 'Palestinian' unilateral statehood bid
After a meeting with PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Dutch Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal has announced that Holland will not support the 'Palestinian Authority's unilateral statehood bid at the United Nations in September.
Holland’s rejection follows the refusal of France, a constant supporter of the Palestinian Authority, to categorically support Abbas’ effort. French officials have held out nothing more than the possibility of backing a vote for the PA in the United Nations in September.
The European Union countries that might be prepared to back Abbas are Sweden, Spain and a handful of other nations, but it is far from certain that they will buck the official EU policy of seeking the resumption of “negotiations” between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.
Abbas has used the term to mean sitting down with officials in the Netanyahu government on condition that they accept his demands for borders based on the temporary 1949 Armistice Lines, a freeze on all building for Jews in Judea and Samaria as well as areas in Jerusalem claimed by the PA, and the immigration of several million foreign Arabs into Israel.
He also has rejected Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s demand that the PA recognize Israel as Jewish state, a definition that would contradict the proposed Arab immigration, which would eliminate a Jewish majority in Israel.
Despite the Dutch rejection of Abbas’ plan for U.N. recognition, Holland’s legislators welcomed him warmly – except for the small Reformed Political party and Geert Wilder’s Freedom party, both of which boycotted him.
Several legislators who participated in a discussion with Abbas criticized him. “Abbas avoided answering my questions about Palestinian terrorism. I think he’s a typical Arab leader who can have two faces, who can be very friendly to the west, and to the Arab world can be very militant,” said. Joel Voordewind, a parliamentarian from the Christian Union party.
On the other hand, Labor legislator Frans Timmermans, stated, "I think he’s been very clear on all these issues, and I’m really getting sick and tired of this increasing level of propaganda with these nonsense stories about what Abbas said, or did, or didn’t do or didn’t say."
Recall that Holland banned shechita (Kosher slaughter of animals) last week.
It seems to me that when it comes to Jews, there are some who hate us and some who love us, and that we have to hope that the balance of power is such that those who love us at least have a veto if they are not in control.
Video: 'One dog less,' Muslims disrupt Christian funerals in Holland
In the last week, we have seen some Dutch legislators refuse to meet with the Holocaust denier Abu Mazen, but we have also seen a bad side of Holland. They banned Shechita (Jewish ritual slaughter - more on that later) and their Muslims disrupted - not for the first time - a Christian funeral.
Let's go to the videotape.
And people worry about 'Islamophobia'? Disgusting....
The entire Dutch media covering the flotilla of fools has left the flotilla because they were not allowed to cover the events in an unbiased manner and due to Hamas involvement in the flotilla (link is a Google translation - the original article in Dutch is here).
According to the four editors left, they were censored by the activists, who were not served by critical questions, such as the financing of the operational ship, which was bought for nearly three tons. The money is scraped together by including collections in Dutch mosques, as this newspaper revealed earlier.
Vara editor Hasna El Maroudi decided to leave because the organization does not want to say that there were other occupants: "I was not surprised by the presence of figures or organizations that I want nothing to do. Also remained unclear how the financing of the boat settled. Also, I have repeatedly asked, but the answer was suspended in a web of vague foundations, umbrella and umbrella organizations. "Hasna El Maroudi is a former columnist NRC.
...
Now it appears that the infamous Dutch Hamas leader Amin Abou Rashed also been present in recent days in training of the crew in Greece. El Maroudi: "Amin was present on the day the Dutch delegation, part of the non-violence training followed. Wilfred van de Poll, journalist for the wedding, just spoke with Amin about his presence and his role within the organization. "The brain behind the fleet" has arranged the purchase of the boat. He also has a lion's share of funding provided."
El Maroudi: "During the dinner raved Anne de Jong (one of the driving forces behind the fleet, ed) evil that it is all lies and that Amin was a terribly nice man, who with incredible love, commitment to the Palestinians. How I love her in her blue eyes would believe, I can not. Simply because his involvement in the fleet been kept secret until arrival in Greece. Not only for the outside world, but also for the passengers."
At least someone isn't willing to be used as a tool. Can we conclude that the rest of the media 'covering' the flotilla is allowing itself to be used?
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004.
