'Palestinian' terrorist shot by police officer he stabbed, Ma'an pretends stabbing didn't happen
Here are a few things from Twitter.
The Mayor tells us that it was the stabbed police officer who shot the terrorist, thereby saving lives, a detail that was missing for those who only read Twitter.
Here's what the terrorist had in his hand:
And here's how the 'Palestinian news agency' Ma'an tells the same story.
Of course, since we are civilized people, the terrorist was immediately taken for life-saving surgery. Unfortunately, if you're an Arabic-reading 'Palestinian,' you were told that you hero was
left to bleed to death.
Can't wait to see which narrative the Western news agencies choose....

Maan: Making up the news

In the spirit of Suha Arafat's blood libel that Israel was poisoning the waters of Gaza, Maan published the image at top left along with claims that Israel is using some sort of
horrific new weapon in the latest fighting in Gaza.
The head of an emergency ward in a Gaza City hospital said Monday that Israeli forces were using new, more brutal weapons against residents of the Gaza Strip.
On Thursday, Israeli forces began a four-day bombarded the coastal enclave killing 14 Palestinians and wounding dozens more in a series of airstrikes and drone attacks.
Dr Ayman As-Sahbani said patients were admitted with horrific injuries and that some bodies delivered to Al-Shifa Hospital were so badly burned they were unrecognizable.
He said Israeli weapons made no distinction between women, children and the elderly, pointing out that a two-year-old toddler and a 13-year-old boy were among those killed in the latest escalation.
Do any weapons distinguish between men, women, children and the elderly? No. As it happens, the two-year old was killed because he was being used as a human shield. The boy's father was the owner of the home where the
Popular Resistance Committees leadership was meeting on Thursday evening, and he kept the child home as a human shield. The 13-year old was also a
passenger human shield in a terrorist's car.
But it was the picture that really got me. I spent a long time trying to figure out if it was a photoshop (I am not an expert). In the end, I decided that it looks like napalm - an image I grew up with in the Vietnam era. But so far, I cannot find a similar image to this one online. I'm still working on it if anyone has any ideas. I am convinced that the image did not come from Gaza and was not shot in the last week.
UPDATE 2:24 PM
If you look in the comments, you will see that reader Rungholt has found the same image in a 2009 blog post - probably from Operation Cast Lead. White phosphorus (which is legal when used properly - as it was
used by Israel during Operation Cast Lead) perhaps?
UPDATE 10:07 PM
The picture is picture number 9
here. It was taken on January 3, 2009 (Hat Tip:
Tamzen L).

Maan issues a correction

Maan has issued a 'correction' of the '
mistranslation' of its Tuesday night article on the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade statement on Osama Bin Laden's death. But please note the
subtle difference between their new translation into English and Palestinian Media Watch's new translation.
The PMW version:
The Islamic nation "is capable of supplying an abundance of new blood... [for] restoring the glory of Islam and the flag of Allah's oneness."
Maan new version:
"It [the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades' statement] added that "we tell the American and Israeli occupier that the nation which produced leaders who changed history with its Jihad and patience is a nation capable of invigorating the resistance, which extends across the nation and is capable of restoring the glory of Islam and its flag of unity, God willing."
Maybe it's just me, but the PMW version seems to be calling for holy war (the 'flag of Allah's oneness' says to me 'there is no other and we'll kill anyone who thinks there is'), while the new Maan version is only talking about unity of Muslims, Allah willing.
Being an experienced translator (Hebrew to English only), I suspect that there's an Arabic idiom here that only a native-level Arabic speaker is likely to be able to interpret correctly - if he chooses to do so.
Does anyone else read it that way? My Arabic is non-existent. Can anyone read the original Arabic and tell me I'm imagining things?

No, it wasn't a Thai worker

Some 'Palestinians' have been promoting a story on the internet that Thai workers are suspected in the murder of the Fogel family of Itamar. I even got tweets like that in my feed yesterday when I posted Melanie Phillips' interview.
This story from Maan shows that the prime suspects are 'Palestinians.'
The deputy mayor of Awarta and two of his brothers were detained along with dozens of others Tuesday morning by Israeli forces. Officials say the detained men are being given DNA tests and questioned by soldiers.
The detentions come as the investigation into the murders of five Israeli settlers - including two children and an infant - enters its third week. More than 40 had been detained from the village in the first week of the investigation, and foreign workers in the settlement were said to have been questioned.
Awarta, the closest Palestinian village to the illegal Israeli settlement of Itamar, where the murders occurred, has been the center of the investigation. It was placed under military curfew twice, the first time for five days.
While a third curfew was not imposed overnight, Israeli troops forcibly entered homes, detaining an unknown number of residents estimated to be in the dozens. Forty had already been detained during earlier arrest raids, including a Voice of Palestine radio journalist.
An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed military activity in the village overnight, but said she could not comment on whether or not villagers had been arrested, or the nature of their arrests. Israel placed details of the investigation under a gag order, and while political leaders pointed the finger at Palestinian militants, no suspect has been publicly identified.
Awarta Mayor Qays Awwad told Ma'an on Tuesday morning that the men and boys who had been detained during the first round of arrests in the village were taken to the Israeli military base at Huwwara, where they were subjected to DNA testing and fingerprinted.
"They took samples for DNA tests, and were fingerprinted before being interrogated. Some were released but more are being kept in custody," the mayor said, adding that his deputy mayor Hasan Awwad and two of his brothers were among those rounded up overnight.
By the way, Elder of Ziyon reports that Maan's editor tweeted him that he would run a story saying there were
no foreign workers in Itamar (Itamar doesn't allow them) if Elder could come up with official confirmation. Elder got the confirmation but the story still hasn't run. What a shock.... (The same editor has shown up once or twice in my Twitter feed too).

Maan reports 'settler' lifesaving story

The Arab news service Maan has reported the
story in which
'settlers' saved a 'Palestinian' baby with an umbilical cord wrapped around its neck outside the Jewish town of Itamar during the week after the Fogel family massacre.
Israeli forces and paramedics saved the life of a Palestinian woman and her newly born infant Wednesday, at the settlement where five members of a family were murdered, news reports said.
More important than reading the whole thing, I suggest that you
read the comments to get a sense of the lies that are used in the 'Palestinian' areas to spread Jew hatred.
In an email, Palestinian Media Watch's Itamar Marcus reported that the Arabic version of Maan also reported the story, but attributed it to 'Israeli news reports,' implying that they were less than believable.

'Palestinian' reactions to Palileaks

There are some fascinating 'Palestinian' reactions to the Palileaks documents
here. The bottom line is that they all deny the truth of the documents, and some of them even go after the Emir of Qatar for authorizing what they see as an attack on the 'Palestinian Authority.'
Maybe Qatar has tired of the 'Palestinians'? Heh.
