Apartment tenders approved in 'east' Jerusalem, but numbers cut to mollify Americans

For the first time since Joe Biden visited here in March, Prime Minister Netanyahu has approved the issuance of tenders for Jewish homes in 'east' Jerusalem. The 238 homes are located in Pisgat Zev and in Ramot. But....
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved tenders for the construction of nearly 238 new housing units in areas of Jerusalem across the Green Line, Israeli media sources reported on Friday.

The Housing and Construction Ministry, along with the Israel Lands Administration, released its list of 3,500 newly approved tenders set for construction across the country.

The list includes 150 residential buildings in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramot and another 80 in Pisgat Ze'ev. While both neighborhoods are technically set in the northern part of the city, they are considered East Jerusalem due to their location east of the Green Line.

...

Israeli officials said they discussed the construction with the U.S. administration and cut the number of planned units to temper American displeasure.
How ridiculous! We have to clear construction in Jerusalem with Obama and cut the number of units to keep him happy? What could go wrong?

Its insulting that keeping Obama happy matters more to Israeli officialdom than the plight of thousands of young couples in Jerusalem who cannot find affordable housing in the city.

I want to know who died and made Obama's Jerusalem's overlord.

Given the world condemnation, I don't understand why Netanyahu didn't approve tenders for 10,000 or even 100,000 units. The world reaction would have been the same.

Even more disappointing is the government's failure to defend a united Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty. Does this mean now Jerusalem is negotiable? And why does it fear world opinion about what happens in its capital?

What could go wrong indeed

The last person you should listen to on any economic decision is obama, his economic policies are destroying our country. Please don't let him destroy Israel.
