16-year old girl with gun attacks border police station

Shavua tov - a good week to everyone.

A 16-year old Bedouin girl who was an Israeli citizen attacked a border police station in southern Israel with a handgun Saturday. The border police returned fire, killing the girl. No one else was hurt in the incident.
At about 1:45 p.m. Saturday the terrorist, who was covered from head to toe in Bedouin garb, arrived at the gate of the Border Police base at Shoket Junction, northeast of Be’er Sheva, and attempted to enter. When the guard approached her she drew a handgun and began firing.

The guard managed to push her hand away and deflect the gun. He continued to talk to her in Arabic and asked her to put down the gun (it is not clear whether the guard was a Bedouin himself, or a Druze). Meanwhile, he called for backup.

Chief Inspector Ofir Yiberkan approached and saw the terrorist near the base’s perimeter fence, firing into the base. He attacked and killed her.

Additional forces arrived, including two bomb squad robots that were used to make sure the terrorist was not carrying explosives.
Israel Radio reports that the girl was from a stable family from the Bedouin village of Choura and was attending school. Israel Radio indicates that it is not yet clear whether she acted on her own or on behalf of a terrorist organization. They also raised the possibility that she acted to avenge her 'family honor.' That would indicate that she had done something to violate 'family honor' (style of dress, improper relationship, etc.) and that she had sought to avenge the family honor by executing a terror attack.

JPost adds.
Nabari exemplified good control of the gun and police said it was evident that she had gone through training. Security forces were trying to locate the person who drove Nabari to the base.

A police sapper arrived at the scene of the attack in order to dismantle any explosives device the woman may have been wearing. She was found not to wear an explosive belt.

Security forces were searching the area in order to detain any suspects who may have assisted the terrorist and were investigating how she arrived at the gates of the Border Police base.

"I identified the terrorist hiding in a corner and shooting at the gate watchman. My job was to get to her and neutralize her, and this is what I did," border police officer Ofir Yabarkan said after he fired at a female terrorist who tried to attack his base on Saturday.

Police Chief Commissioner Insp. -Gen. David Cohen said the attack was "the third attempt within a short time to attack police officers. This teaches police officers there is now a strong incentive to target them."
The investigation continues.

The Israel Police is consumed pursuing a crime Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman may or may not have committed... they certainly can devote hours and hours to question him.

Where have we seen such obsession about finding the murderers of two of their finest in the Jordan Valley this winter? Dudi Cohen has a lot to explain. The real enemy of the police isn't a rightist Jew... its Arabs who seek to kill Israeli cops.

And one of them almost succeeded today!
