Children shall not be put to death over the sins of their fathers and fathers over the sins of their children?
A 45-year old mother from Beit Shemesh has been arrested in an effort to pressure her teenaged son to confess to involvement in 'price tag' attacks.
The woman's son was arrested on Friday near Elad on suspicion of
conspiracy to commit a crime, police said, after he and other youths
were found carrying nails and hammers.
Police arrested the teens, claiming possession of the building
materials constituted conspiracy to commit a "price tag" attack.
Attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir, rights lawyer and advocate for the rights
group Honenu, is representing both defendants. Ben-Gvir has already
appealed on the youth's behalf to the District Court, demanding that the
young man be released tomorrow if there is still no progress in the
investigation.
"The system is losing its senses," family members stated, following
the mother's arrest. "Just last week there were a number of attacks and a
Jewish teenage girl [Shelly Dadon - ed.] was murdered - and instead of
fighting the real enemy they are wasting their time on good Jews."
"It is time to differentiate between friend and enemy," they added.
Ben-Gvir also spoke about the arrest, deriding police forces for harping on petty allegations.
"The court ruled today that if there is no progress in the
investigation than the son must be released," he stated. "The police
have decided to make a drama out of the courtroom. Worst of all is the
pressure they put on the youth when he sees his mother arrested, which
encourages him to make a false confession."
In the Jewish state 66 years on, the edict that parents not be punished for their children's sins, and vice versa, is somehow forgotten....
Still waiting for the Leftist Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) to speak up about this. For God's sake, it's vandalism, not terrorism.
In what the police are immediately assuming is a 'price tag' attack by right wing Israelis, the grave of Muslim preacher Izz ad-Din al-Qassam, the inspiration for the Hamas terror brigade by the same name, was defaced in Haifa overnight Thursday night according to a report on Israel's Channel 10 news.
One of the graves was spray-painted with the words "Tag mehir (‘price tag’) Tzipi Livni," while another read "Thanks for Memorial Day" along with the name of US Secretary of State John Kerry.
Meanwhile, a 19-year old Afula woman was murdered on Thursday in Migdal HaEmek, possibly by terrorists, as she talked on the phone with her cousin.
"We started to worry. At 2 p.m. we realized something happened," the father told Arutz Sheva,
recalling the events of how his daughter went missing after leaving for
a job interview. "We contacted the police and I gave a description (of
Shelly), and then they told us to come to the station, and I realized
something had happened."
Regarding the motivation behind his daughter's murder, he said "I
believe it was nationalistic, and still can't digest (her murder). She
was a very responsible girl."
"They shouldn't rest until they find her phone, maybe there are
fingerprints on it," added the bereaved father, noting that she had been
in the middle of a phone call with her cousin apparently at the time of
the murder.
While on the phone, Shelly said "there is someone scary here,
I'm being strangled!" Shelly appeared to be referring to a woman
[extrapolated from Hebrew grammar - ed.].
"There's no security in this country," said Shelly's father. "My
message to parents is not to send your children alone, we don't digest
the fact that in the state of Israel you go to your workplace and don't
come back. They just butchered my girl."
The funeral of Shelly Dadon will take place on Saturday after Shabbat, at 10:30 p.m. in Afula's cemetery.
The murderer apparently fled to a nearby Arab village. But the government seems to be much more interested in the 'price tags' than in Shelly Dadon.
Shelly's cousin Alon noted there has been a remarkable lack of condemnation of the attack from Israel's government.
"I want every MK to know what is going on here," he said. "If this
had been a 'price tag' graffiti incident, the whole State would have
been up in arms. But when a young girl is murdered on her way to a job
interview, they are all silent."
"We demand that they bring [the killer] to justice," he added.
By contrast, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and others were swift to condemn an
alleged act of "price tag" vandalism earlier this week, especially in
light of a damning report from the US State Department over the "Jewish
terrorism."
Netanyahu called the latest attack "outrageous," vowing, "we are using ISA (Shin Bet) resources for this purpose.”
Unfortunately, the Israeli government has applied terrorist rhetoric to 'price tag' attacks. It is grossly out of place.
Obama-Kerry State Department urges targeting price taggers, not terrorists
In yet another disgusting swipe at the Jewish state, in its annual report on terrorism issued on Wednesday, the Obama-Kerry State Department urges the United Nations and NGO's to 'price tag' attacks - which only cause property damage - while ignoring 'Palestinian' terror attacks against Israelis.
The 2013 anti-terrorism report
investigated terror activity across the globe in 2013, and was
published on its website. The "Israel, West Bank, and Gaza" section,
however, focuses intensely on "extremist Israeli settlers" and subtly
calls for them to be prosecuted by the UN. "Attacks by extremist Israeli settlers against Palestinian
residents, property, and places of worship in the West Bank continued
and were largely unprosecuted [sic] according to UN and NGO sources,"
the report claims, citing the leftist UN Office of the Coordinator for
Humanitarian Affairs.
The report also cited "399 attacks by extremist Israeli
settlers that resulted in Palestinian injuries or property damage" and
deemed them "violent extremists" - mostly over "price tag" attacks
against Palestinian Arab homes and property.
"Price tag" is a euphemism for politically-motivated vandalism
and criminal damage usually attributed to Jewish extremists, carried out
either in revenge for Arab terrorist attacks, or in protest of Israeli
government policies such as the destruction of Jewish homes in Judea and
Samaria.
...
The State Department report also acknowledged terror against Israeli
Jews in Judea and Samaria - which, unlike "price tagging", aims to kill
people - as opposed to damaging property.
"The Israel Security Agency (ISA, or “ShinBet”) reported a total of
1,271 of what it defined as terrorist attacks originating in the West
Bank against Israeli citizens in 2013," the report noted. "Of these, 858
involved firebombs, but the attacks also included shootings, stabbings,
grenade and IED incidents, and rock throwing. The ISA identified an
additional 126 attacks in Jerusalem, 122 of which involved firebombs."
Unlike the "price tag" attacks, however, the report made no mention of involving the UN or other NGOs.
There's much more. Read it all. A year and a half ago, I warned that John FN Kerry could do a lot more damage to Israel than the Chuckster (Hagel). Do I get to say I told you so yet?
For those who don't get it, as the policeman investigates a 'price tag' attack (the graffiti says Kahane was right about transferring the Arabs out of Israel), he ignores the city burning around him.
'You can call 'price tag' attacks terror when you stop freeing murderers'
This is well done, but unfortunately, it's only in Hebrew. Jewish lawyer Itamar Ben Gvir goes on the popular Orly and Guy show with Labor MK Eitan Cabel, and gets asked what he thinks of classifying 'price tag' attacks as terror, as proposed by Cabel. He doesn't hesitate for a minute: When the government stops freeing terrorist murderers, says Ben Gvir, we can talk about calling 'price tag' attacks - which consist of painting slogans on political targets - as terror (as advocated by Israel's suicidal left).
Let's go to the videotape.
It's a pity this hasn't been translated into English.
Channel 10 news editor admits he celebrated beating of Jews in 'Palestinian' village
The editor of one of Channel 10's most popular news magazines admits in an op-ed in Maariv that he celebrated the beatings of Jewish youth in the 'Palestinian' village of Kusra.
The degree to which Israel's mainstream media openly identifies with
leftist politics was displayed Wednesday morning in an opinion piece by
Dror Zaresky, the editor of Channel 10 television's London and Kirshenbaum, a daily news interview show.
The article in Maariv-NRG, where Zaresky is a frequent contributor, is devoted to Zaresky's confession that he was happy to see young Jews badly beaten by Arab villagers at Kusra, in Samaria, last week.
"The reports in the media and around some of the water coolers,” he
wrote, “ran the gamut from just-the-facts to awarding a prize for
courage to the Palestinian residents of the village near Shechem who
settled a long debt with the youths of the right wing specifically, and
with Israel the occupier in general.”
"I will admit the truth: I, too, had to fight the smile that spread
on my face when I heard the reports from the village,” Zaresky added.
“When I first heard about the 'price tag' action gone bad in the wadis
of Samaria, I could not hide my smile. Unlike many of my friends in the
media, I do not see these actions as disastrous for the country;
proportionality was abandoned long ago, in the way we report these
incidents of graffiti and flat tires. And yet, there is no doubt in my
mind that the right wing criminals are trying to disrupt the lives of
many Palestinians – and on the way, they may just succeed in setting fir
to our calm neighborhood in the Middle East.”
Zaresky went on to compare the event to a group of thugs from an
organized crime gang who come to collect protection money from shop
owners, somewhere in the desert – and instead are ambushed by their
victims, who beat them up. “I imagine that you get my point. The
schadenfreude toward those who came to hurt is natural and
understandable and has nothing to do with political views of one kind or
another,” he opined, adding that he “understands” people who say it is
wrong to take the law into one's own hands, but wishes to “confer a
blessing” on those who “teach criminals a lesson” regardless.
As I have reported previously, the teenagers and young adults involved in the incident were not trying to carry out a 'price tag' attack.
At least Channel 10 isn't being paid by the government to be Leftist. Still Zaresky ought to be fired.
Longer video of Jewish civlians under attack in 'Palestinian' village
Here's a longer video than the one I posted earlier about the Jewish civilians who were attacked and held hostage in a 'Palestinian' village on Tuesday. The narration is in Hebrew, but what you'll see in this video is frightening.
Let's go to the videotape. More after the video.
The source of the video is Israel's Channel 10 newscast from Tuesday night.
The video says that the army suspects that this was intended to be a 'price tag' attack in revenge for the army's destruction earlier in the day of 'illegal buildings' in an 'outpost.' According to information I have seen, those buildings were built on land that is not privately owned - or owned at all.
Two Israelis were hospitalized as a result of the incident, and seven have been arrested.
According to Channel 10, the IDF does not believe the Jews' story that they went on a hike....
Peace Now director praises 'Palestinian' mob for beating up Jews
Peace Now director general Yariv GuggenheimerGoogleheimerpraised 'Palestinian' villagers who beat up a group of Jews on Tuesday.
According to Oppenheimer, the mob deserves praise for not killing the Jews.
“Good job to the residents of the village of Kusra, who kept alive
the ‘price tag’ activists who came to bring judgment on them,”
Oppenheimer wrote in a post to Facebook, repeating as fact the
attackers’ claims that the Jewish men had planned to vandalize Arab
property in a “price tag” revenge attack for the destruction of Jewish
vineyards.
“If the situation were reversed, and Palestinians had entered a
settlement to hurt Jews, it would have ended in a lynch and in deaths,”
he claimed. “Under the claim of ‘self defense.’”
Oppenheimer’s proposed reverse situation is not mere theory: in 2012, an Arab mob from Kusra descended on the town of Esh Kodesh with shouts of “kill the Jews.” However, unlike in his suggested scenario, the attackers in that incident remained alive.
Oppenheimer concluded by suggesting that the Jewish men who were
detained and beaten by the mob should be put on trial. “All of the
rightists should be put on trial for trying to hurt innocent people, and
for endangering the lives of IDF soldiers,” he proposed.
The cars were reportedly set on fire during the night, and sprayed onto a
wall near the village was a message to the US Secretary of State John
Kerry, saying "Regards to Kerry. to be continued."
Meretz MK Zany Zehava Gal-On thinks this is terrorism.
After the overnight vandalism, Meretz head Zahava Gal'on urged leaders to deem 'Price tag' attacks as acts of terrorism.
The
attacks "constitute further evidence for the recent escalation price
tag actions, and the urgent need to define them as terrorism
immediately.
Really? How many people were killed? How many people were injured? How many people did they try to kill or injure?
It's property damage - vandalism. But terrorism? Save that inflammatory term for the real thing, R"L (God Save us).
Equality before the law: 11-year old Jewish boy arrested in 'price tag' attack
An 11-year old Jewish boy has been arrested and charged with scrawling 'death to Arabs' on 'Palestinian' cars (no, that's not what the marking above says) in black magic marker.
The
officers found in the boy’s possession the magic marker he allegedly
used to write “Death to Arabs” and “Price Tag” on two cars.
The boy was released to go home. He and his parents were asked to appear at a local police station for questioning on Monday.
The next time you read that a 'Palestinian' kid is arrested, you can whoever tells you about it that we treat our own kids the same way.
But arresting the kid is a really dumb idea. They should have brought the kid rags and soap and made him wash the cars on the spot.
Yahrtzeit (anniversary of death) of Aaron the High Priest
Today, the first day of the Jewish month of Av, is the yahrtzeit (anniversary of the death) of the High Priest Aaron.
I can remember in the mid-to-late '90's that there were organized trips from Israel to the tomb (pictured), which is located in southern Jordan. The trips left in the wee hours of the morning, and returned in the wee hours of the following morning. One of my sons claims to have seen notices of such a trip this year. I have not seen them in years.
In the meantime, some people commemorate the occasion by visiting the tombs of his sons.
Hundreds marked the anniversary of the passing of Aaron the High
Priest by praying, Sunday evening, at the tombs of his sons, Elazar and
Itamar, in the Samarian (Shomron) Palestinian Authority-assigned village
of Awarta.
While most of the worshipers were from the
hareidi-religious community, religious Zionists and secular Jews were
also represented. The visit was organized by the Samaria Regional
Council and the Shechem Echad organization, in coordination with the
Israel Defense Forces and other security services.
If the name Awarta sounds familiar, it should. It is the home of the murderers of the Fogel family from Itamar. The graves of Elazar and Itamar were desecrated a year and a half ago with slogans praising the murderers. No one thought to call it terrorism.
George Orwell would be proud: Vandals are 'terrorists' but stone throwers are not
George Orwell would be proud of the modern state of Israel. Our Defense Minister has now decided to treat vandals as terrorists (so long as they put the word 'price tag' on their artwork), but stone throwers continue to be treated as non-violent protesters.
Planning and carrying out “price tag” attacks
in Israel will now be defined as “illegal organizing,” which puts the
acts on the same level as Islamic terror groups.
The new designation announced Monday by
Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon means that the Jewish perpetrators
of such violence would face the same legal repercussions as Palestinian
terrorists.
The new designation will allow Israeli
security services and police to hold suspects in jail longer, keep them
under arrest until the end of legal proceedings and investigate without
the presence of an attorney. Those who plan and fund price tag attacks
will be subject to the same proceedings.
“Price tag perpetrators’ conduct is identical
to the conduct of modern terrorist groups, including ideological
inspiration and covert action,” the Defense Ministry said in a
statement. “Its main objective is to prevent the legitimate Israeli
government from carrying out actions, whether of state or regarding law
enforcement, and to sow fear among the nation’s leaders of making
decisions of one kind or another.”
Identical to terrorist groups? Really? How many people have died in price tag attacks? What law enforcement is prevented by graffiti scrawled on buildings? Yes, if someone burns a car they ought to have to pay, but that doesn't require designating them terrorists. Next thing you know, we'll have a new thought crime called 'Islamophobia.' Oh wait... You mean they have that in the US already.
Government finds its senses, 'fails' to declare vandalism terror
The security cabinet 'failed' to declare 'price tag attacks' like the one above to be terrorism. And with good reason. There's a huge difference between attacks that target random human beings and attacks that target property.
But in my view, the government went too far. The government gave the Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon the power to declare 'price tag activists' an 'illegal association.' That's a classification that's used to charge all members of terrorist groups with membership in an unlawful association even if there's no proof that member x was actually involved in a given terror attack. Such an inchoate crime (essentially a thought crime) is problematic enough when we're talking about terrorism - it's even more problematic when we're talking about vandalism.
And then, why is Yaalon being brought into this in the first place. 'Price tag attacks' are vandalism and should be handled by the police like all other vandalism. They should not be a subject for the army or the defense ministry.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the decision
“significantly expands the investigative and judicial tools available to the
security forces and law enforcement authorities against so-called ‘price-tag’
actions.”
The new measures include stiffer sentencing and lengthier
prison terms, according to an Israeli official.
The PMO explained that
the security cabinet “authorized Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon to use his
authority under defense regulations to declare ‘price-tag’ activists an illegal
association.”
“This will significantly strengthen the ability to fight
‘price-tag’ phenomena,” it added.
Justice Minister Tzipi Livni would
continue to advance other legislation that would also deal with the issue, the
PMO said.
Livni, along with Public Security Minister Yitzhak
Aharonovitch, have in the last few months advocated for classifying price-tag
attacks as acts of terror.
And the 'Israeli Arab' MK's, who would like nothing more than to see Israeli Jews charged with terrorism, are complaining that the decision doesn't go far enough.
But MK Esawi Frej attacked the
security cabinet’s decision, charging that it had caved to pressure from
right-wing extremists.
“Equality before the law?” he asked. “Democracy?
This is total capitulation to King Bibi. An illegal association? But we should
declare price-tag terrorists as an unsympathetic youth movement.”
“Again,
for the thousandth time, Bibi has shown that he is not working for the Israeli
public but for extreme right-wing settlers,” Frej said.
What Netanyahu is
really doing is sanctioning attacks against Arabs, he said.
“But when an
Arab child throws a stone against a Jew, he is declared a terrorist and taken
away for questioning in the middle of the night.
“We are talking about a
disgraceful decision that affects every Israeli Arab citizen and every person
who believes in equitable treatment,” Frej said.
“What is true for Ahmed
has to be true for Moshe. This is something so simple that every child can
understand it – except our prime minister.”
Sorry, but there's a huge difference between throwing a stone at a moving car and painting the words "Regards from Evyatar, May God Avenge his blood" on the wall of a building (see the picture above). If our 'Israeli Arab' MK's truly cannot see that, they have bigger problems than intellectual dishonesty.
In case you don't understand the difference between 'Jewish terror' (Israel's government is talking about defining 'price tag' attacks as terror) and 'Palestinian' terror, this pictured appeared in Yedioth Aharonoth on Thursday.
Hot off her attempt to 'get' the Haredim by declaring discrimination against women to be a crime, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni now wants to go after her other favorite group, the 'settlers.' Livni wants to declare 'price tag attacks,' which in other countries would be termed vandalism, to be terror attacks.
In a statement issued by Livni and Aharonovitch’s offices
Thursday night, the ministries said that in regards to price-tag attacks,
Aharonovitch, Livni and Weinstein “see eye to eye on the need for more serious
steps to be taken, including making sure law enforcement have the tools at hand
to deal with the criminals responsible.”
They also said that they “see
with severity the seeping of price-tag attacks into Israel, and the danger
inherent in damaging relations with Arab Israelis.”
Participants at the
meeting discussed harsher steps to deter such incidents, including legally
defining “price-tag” incidents as acts of terror, according to political
sources.
In the past, Weinstein has opposed such a legal definition, but
according to sources, he is weighing shifting that opinion, given that the legal
tools available have not been able to halt the price-tag incidents.
Livni
and Aharonovitch will hold a follow-up meeting on the matter in the near
future.
Morons. Declaring vandalism to be terrorism in Israel is a sure way to ensure that no one takes our claims about terrorism seriously.
A particularly heinous attack of vandalism against a religious site near Shchem (Nablus) is being ignored. If an attack like this one, which included the spreading of human and animal waste on the floor of a holy site, had been perpetrated against a mosque, you would have read about it in every mainstream publication, and it might have even been mentioned in the daily White House or State Department briefings. But this attack was perpetrated against a Jewish site, Joseph's tomb (the picture above is from a previous instance), and so the closest it gets to the mainstream media - let alone the White House or the State Department - is Arutz Sheva (Hat Tip: MFS - The Other News).
Visitors to the Tomb of Yosef in Shechem were shocked to discover
Wednesday night yet another instance of major Arab vandalism to the holy
site. Arabs trashed furniture, destroyed books, and defaced the site
with anti-Semitic graffiti, and there was evidence that they had tried
to burn the structure down. In addition, human and animal waste was
found all over the floor of the site.
Mesika joined with more than 2,500 other
people Wednesday night who visited the site. The visit was organized by
the Samaria Regional Council and the Shechem Echad organization, and the
visitors were accompanied by IDF soldiers and police. Accompanying
Mesika to the site was the Admor m'Rachlov.
Samaria Council Chairman Gershon Mesika
called IDF officials to express his shock at the damage. “Only
barbarians are capable of doing terrible things like this, destroying a
holy place,” said Mesika. The State of Israel must reclaim the Tomb of
Yosef, as described in the Oslo Accords. We must return with strength
and faith and reestablish our presence, and that yeshiva, at the Tomb,”
he said.
Deputy Council Director Yossi Dagan
pointed a finger of blame at the PA police who are supposed to be
guarding the site. “The Palestinian terrorist police are responsible for
the site when IDF soldiers are not present. They have proven a long
time ago that they have lost all semblance of humanity. These are the
terrorists in uniforms who murdered Yosef Ben Livnat h”yd, and now they
dump their waste and try to burn down the Tomb.”
The large crowd of Jews that had arrived
to worship were forced to wait outside for long minutes as soldiers and
police cleaned up the site.
Aren't you glad that Israel turned over control of Jewish holy sites to the kind, caring 'Palestinians'? Doesn't this encourage you to want to do it again?
Police reverse decision to prosecute alleged 'price tag' vandals
Police have decided not to prosecute three young men who were arrested after a burnt-out car was found in a village outside of Hebron (Aryeh Z).
The change of heart was “rare,” said attorneys with the Honenu legal rights group who are representing the three.
The
young men were arrested over two weeks ago on suspicion of arson and
vandalism, just hours after residents of Dahariya reported that a car
had been burnt. Police said the suspects had been under observation for
some time, and were suspected of involvement in other incidents of
vandalism as well.
Several media outlets published the men’s
names and pictures, along with pictures provided by police of the
“suspicious items” found in their car at the time of the arrest: a toy
gun, matches, a bottle of juice, a crowbar, gloves, a scarf, and several
small stones.
A court hearing was held Tuesday in which police
announced that the investigation had ended, and that enough evidence had
been found to charge the suspects. A further hearing was set for Friday
at which the suspects were to be indicted.
However, shortly
before the planned hearing police told the suspects’ lawyers that they
would not be seeking an indictment, but instead want to extend the men’s
remand again and to continue the investigation.
Honenu attorneys
noted that it is very unusual for police to backtrack on plans to
indict suspects, but at the same time, to continue to detain them. If
police find new evidence in a case, standard practice is to indict the
suspect for the original charges and to add further charges at a later
date, they explained.
Maybe they dropped it because they had no evidence? Nah, that can't be. 'Everyone knows' that 'settlers' are price tag vandals.
The European Union is looking into banning 'violent settlers' like these seen giving candies to 'Palestinians' for Eid-al-Fitr.
This document, which was obtained by Haaretz, says most of the
violent incidents perpetrated by settlers "appear to be part of a
pattern of coercion aimed at forcing Palestinian communities in Area C
to leave with a view to expanding settlements or outposts."
The document also states that the "political strength of the settler
movement has grown" and "the Israeli authorities have generally not
taken firm action against outposts [that are] also illegal under Israeli
law." Given that, it states, a "culture of impunity is which the
violence continues" has developed.
The committee said the settler attacks were becoming more serious and,
in some areas, more coordinated. The United Nations "considers settler
violence as the biggest security threat to its personnel in the West
Bank," the document states.
The experts also said Israeli perpetrators of violence against
Palestinians rarely face punishment and cited "worrying reports of
incidents of the Israeli military, despite being present, [having]
failed to intervene to protect Palestinians or their property from
violence by extremist settlers."
"If settler violence is not dealt with preventively, it will
increasingly obstruct efforts by both parties for solving the conflict,"
the document states. It suggested that member states "could explore the
possibilities of denying access of known violent settlers to the EU."
Several of the committee experts visited the West Bank and Israel last
week. A Foreign Ministry source said the visit "was totally unbalanced.
Unfortunately, this is typical of some of the European clerical staff."
According to the source, the European diplomats devoted most of their
time to visiting the Palestinian Authority areas, and made several tours
of the region accompanied solely by Palestinian officials.
The Foreign Ministry was infuriated when told of the document's
contents, with officials saying that Israel had had no inkling that EU
institutions were preparing any such blacklist.
"It's hard to respond to a paper we haven't seen," said Foreign
Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor. "As for the inflammatory proposal to
refuse to admit what they call 'known violent settlers' because Israel
hasn't put them on trial, there's an internal contradiction there. How
will a person be defined as a 'violent settler' if he hasn't been
convicted? And if he's been convicted, then Israel has brought him to
justice. It seems as if in their eagerness to suggest tough measures,
these esteemed experts neglected simple logic."
It doesn't sound like those who are to be banned will be given either notice or an opportunity to be heard. On the hand, the Europeans are declaring them to be 'violent' based on what? I understand that non-citizens have no inherent right to enter another country, but given that the Europeans allow in the likes of Abu Qatada and then won't allow him to be deported, one has to wonder what their standards are and whether there's something else at work here.
One more point. Earlier in the article quoted above it says:
In January of this year, the consuls general of the EU countries in East
Jerusalem and Ramallah wrote a report dealing with settler violence
against Palestinians in the West Bank, especially the incidents the
settlers refer to as "price tag" revenge attacks.
Most of the price tag attacks have never been proven to have been committed by 'settlers,' but even if they were to be proven, from what I recall, those attacks were all attacks against property and not against people. We have yet to find a single dead 'Palestinian' with 'price tag' engraved in his forehead. Some 'violent' people those 'settlers,' aren't they?
Speaking to the Walla! news website on Sunday, Judea and
Samaria District Police chief Major General Amos Yaakov admitted that
"most of the people who carry out these offenses are people who come
from outside of Judea and Samaria. This needs to be emphasized. Most of
them come from central Israel, from Beit Shemesh or from Tzfat. In one
case of a vandalized mosque the main suspect is from Netanya.”
He added, “We know, in at least four cases of arson of mosques, who
are the perpetrators. We even matched DNA that was found on a box of
matches at one of the mosques that was set on fire - but apparently it
was not enough to indict the suspects.”
Yaakov said that “there is pretty solid evidence in one case where a
person was caught, arrested and interrogated - but it was not enough. At
the interrogations, you should see how they behave. It's crazy. These
guys come well-prepared, with explanations and instructions on how not
to talk during an interrogation. Children aged 14, 15 and even 12 sit
during an interrogation and don’t speak one word for days. In such
cases, nothing can be done against the right to remain silent.”
During the interview, Yaakov was asked about the case in which five Jews from Judea and Samaria were accused by police of espionage, simply because they warned other Jews of impending demolitions of homes. The government later withdrew charges that the five detainees were spies.
Asked whether the police overstepped their boundaries with the
espionage charges, Yaakov said, “If people collect information about
military movements, conduct observations, have maps and lists with the
names of all the senior officers in the area and where they live – what
is the purpose of all this, to create a game? I see this incident as
more than serious. Disrupting IDF operations is not a terrorist act?
This is very serious. We tried to go for the most severe offense, but
there was hesitation.”
After the police dropped the espionage charges against the five, it was speculated that a relatively large protest
outside a police detention facility at the Russian Compound in
Jerusalem may have influenced the decision to omit the charges from the
indictments.
In the interview Yaakov also attacked the leftist activists who, as he put it, fan the flames in Judea and Samaria.
“Some of the conflicts are caused only by leftists and anarchists,
without whom the Palestinians would never leave their homes,” he said.
“They force them to leave. There are regular provocateurs here but we
are having trouble getting our hands on them because they are always
walking the thin line between breaking the law and obeying it.”
Waiting to see how many of Israel's mainstream media outlets report this story....
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu condemned the attack, calling the assailants "intolerant and irresponsible lawbreakers" and said they would be brought to justice.
"Condemnation is not enough," said Abbas. He [Netanyahu] must stop this aggression against our places of worship and people by holding those who perpetrate these acts accountable," Abbas's spokesman Nabil Abu Rdaineh said.
If you read the whole thing, you will see that Israeli officialdom across the board has condemned the attack. But that's not enough says Abu Mazen. The 'Palestinians' want someone arrested and convicted of the crime, and thrown in jail. Whether or not they did it. Just like in 'Palestine.'
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004.
