Free Gaza imploding after proving its own anti-Semitism
Last week, I reported on an
anti-Semitic tweet that the 'Free Gaza' movement posted to its twitter account. Now, it turns out that the tweet may
bring about the movement's demise.
In an email to the
Post on Wednesday, Sam Schulman, a contributor to the Weekly Standard, wrote,
“Avi Mayer’s work was helpful in revealing the mentality attracted to profoundly
anti-Semitic enterprises like freegazaorg.“ Schulman added “ But some have
allowed themselves to be drawn in to a charade in which freegaza ‘denazifies’
itself, and then presents itself as reformed. You don’t have to be pro-Hitler to
be murderously and mendaciously anti-Semitic and pro-war.”
Free Gaza
Movement member and Canadian author Naomi Klein tweeted last week that “I have
resigned from the Advisory Board of the Free Gaza Movement. Still support
mission but leadership has changed since I signed up.”
Gerald Steinberg,
the head of the Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor, wrote in the Post on Wednesday that
“The so-Free Gaza Movement, like other anarchist and radical political groups,
tend to give platforms to individuals with intense personal agendas and issues.
This magnetic attraction for fringe personalities like Greta Berlin is
particularly acute in hard-core anti-Israel frameworks related to BDS and
delegitimization.”
He continued that “The FGM has lost any of their
remaining credibility after the 2010 flotilla fiasco – and the same is true for
the Jewish Voices for Peace (a fringe closely linked to FGM and
BDS).”
The growing assessments about the future of FGM suggest that the
organization has experienced irreparable harm and is now viewed as a kind of
left wing neo-Nazi group. The open questions are, will FGM’s supporters pull the
plug on its fundraising streams and will additional FGM advisory board
members–like the US linguist Noam Chomsky and Archbishop Theodosius (Atallah)
Hanna from the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem–resign from the FGM?
I don't know the answers to those questions. I tend to doubt the latest scandal will have any effect on the likes of Chomsky or Hanna or other supporters like Desmond Tutu or Lauren Booth. But
Jewish Voices for Peace has distanced itself from Free Gaza. Hmmm.

Turkey's 'Plan B'
Turkey has issued ominous threats about implementing a 'Plan B' in the event that Israel does not apologize for its troops defending themselves against Turkish terrorists aboard the Mavi Marmara last year. So what is 'Plan B'?
Here's a summary (by the way, as I noted in an earlier post, the release of the Palmer report has been
postponed again).
Turkish media circulated details of "Plan B":
1) Temporary diplomatic mission will be withdrawn called off. Diplomatic relations will be cut
After closing its embassy Turkey has in "Israel" in Tel Aviv a temporary diplomatic mission of Turkey. There is a question of calling off a representative Tolga Uncu. If "Israel" does not apologize Uncu will be called off and no one will be appointed to replace him. Diplomatic relations will be reduced to zero.
2) "Israeli" ambassador will not be granted a visa to Turkey
In September expires term of office of "Israel" ambassador in Turkey Gabby Levin. Turkey will not issue to the new ambassador of "Israel" a visa.
3) Erdogan will visit Gaza
If there is no apology comes, Erdogan will visit the Gaza Strip in September.
4) Support will be granted those who are going to sue "Israel"
Victims of Mavi Marmara will sue the Zionist regime. Turkish Foreign Ministry will legally support this step. "Israel" will be weakened financially and morally.
5) Palestine will be given full support
Turkey will lobby membership of Palestine in the UN. And "Israel" will remain isolated at all international platforms.
6) Military cooperation will end
Turkey annually invited "Israel" to military exercises. After that Turkey will not invite "Israel" to any doctrines, military cooperation will end. Joint projects in the defense industry will not be carried out.
7) Trade sanctions
Turkey will limit economic relations with "Israel", reduce investment in "Israel." Cultural and social ties would be kept to a minimum.
Diplomatic relations are essentially non-existent today. If Turkey wants to cut them completely, that's their prerogative (I suspect that the US might have something to say about that). If Erdogan wants to visit Gaza, and Egypt agrees, that's their prerogative. But if he tries to visit by sea landing (the only real threat he has), I'm sure that the Palmer Commission report says that Israel's blockade is justified. Erdogan should be treated no differently than any other hostile force. Trying to breach the blockade is an act of war whether Erdogan is on the boat or whether Abu Bluff or Khaled Meshaal are on the boat.
Support is going to be granted to those who want to sue Israel whether or not there is an apology. Where do they think they will sue us? Does Turkey think that the European court system is going to put itself on the line for them? Let's say I have my doubts. There's no love for Turkey in Europe. I suppose it's possible, but it's less than a sure thing.
They already give 'Palestine' full support. What more could they do short of going to war with us? Or perhaps, that's what they have in mind.
There has been no military cooperation with Turkey since 2008. The least three years' exercises have been canceled because Turkey would not participate with Israel. Nothing new there.
As to trade sanctions, go right ahead. Do I need to play the "
how to boycott Israel" video again? But please return our UAV's first. We put self-destruct mechanisms in them anyway, and if you don't return them, we will use those mechanisms.
And by the way, what's this crap of putting Israel in quotes? We're a member state of the UN, unlike 'Palestine.'

Israel accused of taking advantage of Greece's economic plight
A Canadian useful idiot who is part of the flotilla contingent has accused Israel of
taking advantage of Greece's economic situation to convince the Greeks to prevent the flotilla of fools from leaving for Gaza.
Jewish-Canadian Dilan Kenner, claimed that Greece is operating in Israel's favor as a result of economic pressure Jerusalem placed on Athens due to the current financial crisis in the country, according to the report.

The Canadian ship Tahrir was stopped on Monday, five kilometers from its anchoring point in Greece. Kenner explained that the Greek coast guard intercepted the ship fifteen minutes after it departed. Authorities boarded the ship and towed it back to Cyprus. Kenner claimed that the move was a clear act of trespassing which the Greeks had no right to carry out.
The Israeli government, utilizing "economic extortion," pressured the Greek government to widen the illegal blockade of Gaza to Greek ports, Kenner explained.
Kenner said that the widening of the Gaza blockade has begun to affect human rights of those living outside of Gaza. This is something that should worry Israelis, Canadians and people from all over the world, he told Army Radio.
Kenner maintained that the interception was unjustified. The activists made their non-violent intention clear from the beginning, Kenner explained. He said that a number of activists tried to block the Greeks but did not use violence. The inception was a clear violation of activist's rights even though no one was injured, Kenner said.
I don't see how Israel could bring economic pressure to bear on Greece (at least not directly). We carry no weight in the IMF or with the World Bank. We're not an economic superpower - we belong neither to the G-8 nor to the G-20, although we do belong to the OECD.
Israel's
relations with Greece have
become much closer since the break in relations with Turkey in the wake of last year's flotilla of fools. Both
Cyprus and Lebanon have banned ships from sailing directly to Gaza from their ports, and the Free Gaza movement
closed its offices in Cyprus as a result. Why did these people ever think that the Greeks would allow them to sail to Gaza from its ports? Did they even ask, or did they assume that the whole world is against Israel and that therefore they can do whatever they want?

Mavi Marmara pulls out of flotilla
The IHH terror organization and its flagship Mavi Marmara will not take part in the upcoming flotilla of fools. They claim it's because of '
technical reasons.'
Speaking from Greece, Free Gaza member and International Solidarity Movement co-founder Adam Shapiro said the “Turkish participation is obviously something that we want to have as part of the overall flotilla but if tomorrow they decide to postpone [their participation] then we will continue.”
Shapiro said all of the other ships taking part in the flotilla are still finishing their preparations and are planning to set sail at the end of the month regardless of a report in the Turkish press on Wednesday that humanitarian relief foundation IHH is considering dropping out of the flotilla to concentrate on the Syrian refugee issue in southern Turkey.
Shapiro said that as opposed to reports that as many as 25 ships would take part in the flotilla, there are only 10 that are scheduled to sail later this month, with around 300 activists from dozens of countries taking part.
The IHH is apparently at least smart enough to recognize an exercise in futility. Heh.
