Israel Matzav makes Washington Jewish Week but without a link

Washington Jewish Week's Adam Kredo refuses to link to my video, but he does mention a little controversy that I helped to stir up on Twitter on Thursday night.
William Daroff set off a Twitter firestorm today when he tweeted a link to a provocative video that depicts attendees of J Street's recent conference making statements that are extremely critical of Israel.

Soon after beaming the controversial tweet, Daroff -- the Jewish Federation's of North America's vice president for public policy and director of its Washington office -- was accused by leftist blogger Daniel Sieradski of executing a conservative hit job against J Street.

The video in question -- which I've chosen not to post or link to because I think it's unfair -- shows random attendees at J Street's second national conference making loony left-wing statements about Israel and Hamas.

One participant, for instance, is asked by the anonymous videographer if she believes Hamas is terrorist organization.

Her smiley response: "Not anymore than the IDF [Israeli Defense Forces] is."

In fairness, more than 2,400 people showed-up to J Street's conference and it's to be expected that some of them hold radical left-wing views. I wouldn't be surprised if I ran into a few radical right-wingers at an AIPAC conference, for instance, but you won't find me arguing that these folks represent the group.

Sieradski and Daroff debate about whether its fair for Daroff, as an official of a non-partisan organization, to be pushing the video publicly.

The best barb comes when Sieradski says to Daroff: "I'm no longer involved with J Street [because] they keep trying to make folks like you happy."

I also like when Daroff whips out the dictionary definition for the word "amaze."

I've harvested most of the conversation below. Forgive me if I've misplaced a few of the tweets, as I had to reconstruct the conversation for clarity:
For those who have not seen it yet, the video is here. And it's saved to my hard drive and posted on three different video hosting sites, so it's not going to disappear.

But Daroff got one fact wrong. He claimed that none of the interviewees were conference speakers. One of them - the guy with the beard - is Gershom Baskin, and he did speak at J Street's conference.

I also find it curious that Kredo links Mobius1ski - one of the most odious blogs in the Jewish world - but won't link Israel Matzav.

Great job, Will! simply displaying the twisted machinations of soros-funded Jewish self-haters and Israel-gleeful-bashers is cause for slander against the messenger. We are ALL watching and the J-streetwalkers are completely exposed and vile/vicious provocateurs. Dr. Gary Katz; Jerusalem, Israel (via Boston)

Is J-Street the best the American Jewish left can come up with? Speakers, attendees--self-satisfied, supercilious, superficial snarks. Back in the day the Jewish left had some heft. Walter Benjamin, Martin
Buber, even Heidegger's Jewish girlfriend Hannah. Now we have Peter Beinart and the rest of the ipod trolls.

So your student friend created the video? One participant asked that his testimony not be taken if it would be posted to YouTube. And there are witnesses (my girlfriend as one of them). You do not have his consent and the video should be taken down.
