IAF attacks weapons tunnels in Philadelphi corridor
Hours before the arrival of Obama envoy George Mitchell, Israel attacked Hamas
weapons tunnels along the Philadelphi corridor in retaliation for Tuesday's terror attack near the Kisufim crossing point in which an IDF soldier was killed and three were wounded. There were no reports of injuries, but hundreds of people
fled the area. I guess the 'Palestinians' are learning.
The IDF Spokesman confirmed the strikes in an announcement, saying they were in response to the bomb attack against a military patrol along the border with the Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning in which one warrant officer was killed and three others were wounded, including one severely.
The IDF sees Hamas as responsible for preserving the peace in Israel's South, and will respond harshly to any attempt of undermining it, the announcement added.
On Tuesday the IDF had received a green light to respond harshly to the bomb attack, though defense officials would not provide details on the planned response, but had said it would be in line with Israel's new policy to respond aggressively to any attack following the end of Operation Cast Lead earlier this month.
The troops who were sent back into Gaza on Tuesday withdrew before nightfall after finding other explosive devices planted along the border fence. But Hamas thinks that's okay. They now claim that they never agreed to a 'cease fire,' only to a 'lull.'

Of course, Carl. The IDF soldier killed was a Muslim. Not that Hamas cares. No one is immune from their hate for the Jews, not even their own co-religionists. Something to think about.
Hamas has decided to unilaterally change the rules. Israel has done the same. If they will not preserve quiet, the people of Gaza will get none. And they're the ones paying the price for Hamas' refusal to absorb the lessons of the past three weeks. Their love of death in the end, will get them nowhere.
Carl,
I'm glad to see that Israel is actually following up on its promise to response forcefully to any such provocations. Hopefully Hamas is beginning to realize that the time for their childish games has past.
I waiting for the UN's condemnation of Israel's inhumane treatment of innocent tunnels in 3...2...1...
On the terrorist websites, the Palestinians are always depicted as innocents set upon by the blood-thirsty, rapacious Zionists for no reason whatsoever. Welcome to the Alice In Wonderland logic that colors the other side's view of reality.
When they find these tunnels why do they not mine them. Blow them up whe they are full of combatints.
While I agree with the on the street discussion here regarding Hamas, you folks have much bigger problems now that’s not being covered in the Israeli media nor our media in the U.S.
IMO, Obama as suspected is going to withdraw 50% of Israeli aid and about 25% of voiced support form his administration to begin and then take additional percentages away from whatever Iran can negotiate. Say, did anyone catch Obama’s first post inauguration interview on Al Arabiya? Unreal…….
Do you not see what happening here? Obviously the J-Street's, Frank Rich's and the Ezra Klein’s of the world have no clue and have effectively differed close to 30% of Republican support for Israel? Has anyone seen the conditions demanded by Admenijad for Obama's meetings without preconditions? Obama blinked first and Obama is going to give Iran what they want. As you know it’s all or nothing with Iran and the Middle East and Obama who 75% of your constituency voted for does not understand this, nor does the Democratic left. Read any blog. It’s really pathetic. According to the Democrats, Israel and the Jews are to blame for our current Middle East situation, end of story. Get it yet? The reality of this will begin in about 120 days. This unfortunately is going to get very interesting. It’s going to happen, just a matter of degree.
Oh and did you know Ezra Klein makes a mean Kung Pow Chicken? Get in line Mr. Klein.
Good luck my friends…....
W. A.
