If he's killed by his own side, is he still a 'martyr'?
This evening, in a village near Hebron, a trap was laid for a 30-year old who was doing business with a 'Palestinian.' As the Israeli sat in his car with 40-year old Muhammad Nufal (YNet has it as Muhammad Salamiya and says that the Israeli was supposed to sell his car) near the village of Idna, terrorists from the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades - the 'armed wing' of 'moderate' 'Palestinian' PresidentTheir aim was off. Nufal died. The Israeli sustained a stomach wound and managed to drive the car to the Tarkumiya checkpoint in the southern Hebron hills, from which he was evacuated to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
Al-Aqsa now says that the business was a trap to murder the Israeli.
More details on the story here, here and here.
But here's a video with the Arab man's family's reaction. They don't look too happy, do they? And you thought they'd be thrilled that he's going to get his virgins....
Maybe you're not a martyr if your own side screws up and kills you?

Al-Qaeda's Al-Zawahiri says yes, they go to Paradise. Since the Qur'an requires following the "Sunnah" (the example of Muhammad and his Companions), Zawahiri cites the Sunnah's story of Ta'if (a Jewish village Muhammad attacked that had Muslims in its midst) to justify the killing of Muslim civilians, even women and children, and explains it this way:
"According to the law of Islam, it is one of the biggest sins for a Muslim to kill his Muslim brother, but if there is no way to kill the enemy without killing the Muslims in the middle of them, we should kill them and the enemies will go to hell and Muslims will go to Paradise."
Orde, your story is quite revealing. Muslims have no problem with killing their own in order to kill the infidel, especially if that infidel happens to be a Jew. It sheds great light on the shahid practices, including the use of human shields and hiding out among civilians and using civilians to advance Islamic victory. The Muslims are not concerned with human life in the here and now. Its the reverse with Jews, who regard human life as sacred and agonize over it, including the lives of their own enemies. But that concern can be taken too far, as in Ehud Barak's proposal to evacuate Gaza to kill terrorists there. Nothing in the Jewish laws of war says the enemy's civilian population has to be spared. King Saul, who saved Amalek, was taught a lesson by the Prophet Samuel on the subject of misplaced compassion upon an evil enemy who wanted to see all the Jews dead. Its a lesson Israel should take to heart again today.
Human thinking is always familiar. Catholics use to do the same in the middle ages to remove Protestants from a village. Kill both, Catholics and Protestants.
