But he won't say it in Arabic
'
Moderate' '
Palestinian' President
Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen has told one of America's most useful idiots - Marc Schneier - that the Holocaust was the ‘single greatest tragedy in modern-day history.’Of course, Abu Mazen
only said it in English, and he still hasn't disavowed his
Holocaust-denying thesis. He also didn't say it to anyone except Schneier, which has to remind you of last week's
statement to Israel's Leftist MK's, which was
subsequently denied. This is from the third link.
According to Rabbi Marc Schneier of the Foundation for Ethnic
Understanding, a Jewish-Muslim interfaith group, Abbas agreed to make a
public declaration on behalf of Holocaust-remembrance efforts around the
world, as well as to speak out against attempts to ban circumcision and
ritual slaughter in several European countries.
Abbas told Schneier that “remembrance should be an issue of increased
concern to both Jews and Muslims,” the rabbi said after the meeting.
With regard to the part I bolded, don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen. And if it does happen, you can bet it will be in English and not in Arabic.
Abbas has been a subject of criticism in some Israeli circles over
accusations of Holocaust denial because of his graduate thesis, written
while studying in the former Soviet Union, which asserted that “a
partnership was established between Hitler’s Nazis and the leadership of
the Zionist movement” and that the Zionist movement “gave permission to
every racist in the world, led by Hitler and the Nazis, to treat Jews
as they wish, so long as it guarantees immigration to Palestine.”
Last year Abbas defended his thesis, saying that he “challenges anyone
who can deny that the Zionist movement had ties with the Nazis before
World War II,” according to a report in the Palestinian news service
Ma’an.
He won't deny the thesis this year either.

'Rap beef' at #tomorrow12 ?

Well, thankfully I missed this session (and not just because of the Yankees hat).
Russell Simmons, internationally acclaimed music industry and fashion mogul, said at the 2012 Israeli Presidential Conference that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can best be described as a "beef" between rival rappers that can be resolved through dialogue and understanding.
"Conflict needs dialogue and dialogue allows peace to grow," said Simmons, who is here in Israel representing his Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. "When peace comes, and peace will come, the seeds need to be laid for trust and this is only achieved through dialogue."
Simmons was joined by his close friend and President of the foundation, Rabbi Marc Schneier. The two spoke extensively about the impact of their organization on improving relations between Jews and Muslims in the US and the world.
"We are the international address for Muslim-Jewish understanding," said Schneier, who mentioned campaigns in which Jews and Muslims jointly fought anti-Semitism and Islamophobia around the world. "Our work goes beyond dialogue, it is about Muslims fighting for Jews and Jews fighting for Muslims."
Uh, no.... Sometimes talking just drags the conflict out and in the worst case (Iran) it can even allow the other side a strategic advantage.
And as to 'improved relations' between Jews and Muslims around the world... certainly not anywhere in the Muslim dominated countries.

The dork diva, the useful idiot and why Israeli officialdom panders to their agenda

The Investigative Project on Terrorism has a piece that discusses why
Chelsea Clinton (known in the television industry as the
dork diva) would make a great promoter for 'Islamophobia.' The jump-off point for the post is Clinton's 'moderating' a March 14 event at the JCC of Manhattan, which featured useful idiot Marc Schneier and his good friend Imam Muhammad Shamsi Ali. Here's part of that post.
One weapon that has proven useful to the Industry is so-called "interfaith dialogue" involving Jewish and Islamic leaders. The Muslim participants tend to be Islamists, while their Jewish counterparts tend to be well-meaning "useful idiots" like Rabbi Marc Schneier, who has tried to establish a partnership with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which is rooted in the Muslim Brotherhood. All too often, the result is a debacle in which the liberal Jews pine for dialogue while the Islamists stonewall and repeat anti-Semitic slanders.
And when Schneier (who heads a group called the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, or FFEU) and Imam Muhammad Shamsi Ali joined Chelsea Clinton at the JCC March 14, things didn't go a whole lot better. Although it talks a lot about the virtues of diversity, the Islamophobia Industry portrays Muslim life in America in a bleak, one-dimensional way: as if Muslims here are little more than innocent victims of thuggish, bigoted non-Muslim gangs determined to punish them for 9/11 and subsequent jihadist actions. I was taught a long time ago in Journalism 101 that the job of a journalist is to report on the news – not to act as an advocate or partisan. NBC's special correspondent views things a lot differently, declaring it is "the responsibility of the media to help ameliorate Islamophobia."
And that's precisely what Chelsea tried to do, tossing one softball after another to Ali and Schneier, parroting misinformation of her own and failing to question whoppers from the imam and the rabbi. Schneier, for example, bragged about his collaboration with hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons at FEU, but didn't get a single question from the moderator about Simmons' long history of sycophantic praise for Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, a notorious anti-Semite.
Nor did Chelsea seem well-informed about the Ground Zero Mosque controversy that heated up in 2010. She askedSchneier how "you think about trying to use the media to in many ways combat the media?" Chelsea suggested that Schneier might need to gear up for battle because "we saw such vitriolic statements covered widely in the media" with commentators using "terms that at best were insensitive to somewhere in the middle, or derogatory, and at worst were really dehumanizing." (She neglected to provide an example).
After Chelsea asked what the pair was doing to stop this, Schneier talked about his opposition to hearings on Islamist radicalization in the United States by House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Peter King, R-N.Y., and bragged about working with Islamist Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., in an effort to win the release of kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Schneier received thunderous applause from the audience when he described such work as an example of "the genuine authenticity that is needed for this Muslim/Jewish reconciliation."
Neither Schneier nor Chelsea Clinton bothered to mention that this "authenticity" came at a heavy price: the release of more than 1,000 imprisoned terrorist operatives, including planners of grisly attacks targeting civilians.
Read the whole thing. Until now, I have largely ignored Schneier. He's been mentioned about six times previously on this blog. I didn't believe that anyone outside the Jewish community in the United States and those who follow it had ever heard of him, and like Mikey Lerner and Wacky Waskow, Schneier wasn't worth the time or the bandwidth to attack. Then
Sunlight sent me these, which apparently come from the Hampton Synagogue's website.

It is clear to me, as I am sure it is to all of you, that hotshot politicos and the like show up at Bar Mitzva's to honor the father and not the 13-year old boy (I'm making a Bar Mitzva this summer, God willing, and if you're a hotshot politico and want to come, send me an email and I'll consider letting you know where it is). I'm looking at these blurbs and I am wondering what the heck is wrong with Israeli officialdom? Why do Ron Prosor and Ido Aharoni (what - Michael Oren couldn't make it?) have to show up for this Bar Mitzva? Why does Rabbi Metzger, like a schnorrer, fly halfway around the world hours after landing in Israel to honor someone who is thousands of miles away from his own worldview?
What's clear to me is that all these Israelis are being sucked in by the American Jewish community. They're smart enough to avoid J Street, because J Street was started by former Israelis, and by not embracing it they have ensured that any embrace of J Street by the American Jewish community is tentative at best. But they see Schneier - a four-time loser who probably has more adherents in Al Sharpton's crowd than in Rabbi Metzger's - as someone to whom we have to pander.
What could go wrong?

Wallowing in politcal correctness

What's the most politically correct thing you can think of doing today? How about denying the existence of 'Islamophobia'? Unfortunately, we have reached the point where despite many more anti-Semitic attacks on a much smaller number of people, the chattering classes are insisting on equating anti-Semitism with an imaginary hatred called '
Islamophobia.' Phyllis Chesler tries to sort it all out.
Did you know that Jews and Muslims have a shared history in Europe? That Muslims have “deep roots” on the European continent and that Muslims are as imperiled by “Islamophobia” as Jews are by anti-Semitism?
Nothing could be further from the truth, and yet the first Gathering of European Muslim and Jewish Leaders issued a statement on May 9th and just held a meeting in Brussels on May 30, 2011. Oddly enough, the meeting was organized by two American Jewish groups, Rabbi Marc Schneier’s Foundation For Ethnic Understanding and philanthropist Ronald Lauder’s World Jewish Congress, as well as by the European Jewish Congress.
No Muslim organization seems to have shared in organizing the meeting, although two organizations and more than a dozen Muslim leaders attended and signed the joint declaration.
Can you believe this? It this some kind of exercise in dhimmitude and self-delusion? Why are the Jews doing the heavy lifting for the far wealthier Muslim world? More important: Why support such dangerously misguided concepts?
At this moment in world history, why are Jews confusing “Islamophobia” with anti-Semitism? One understands that Muslims might want to assume whatever is left of Jewish victimhood and make it their own—but why are Jews enabling them to do so? If the Muslims are coming in great good faith, they would state some obviously truths, beginning with the Koranic roots of Jew- and infidel-hatred and the contemporary Islamist/genocidal intentions towards the Jewish State. Indeed, a new kind of statement from Muslims would include their understanding of–and desire to break from–the historical Muslim persecution of Jews and infidels in Muslim-majority countries.

here. One cannot help but wonder what sort of mental disease would cause Jewish 'leaders' to organize a conference like this. I used to think highly of Ron Lauder (who is or was a confidant of Prime Minister Netanyahu. No more.

Like son, like father?

We already knew that his son,
Marc Schneier, is a
moonbat. In fact, my friend Debbie Schlussel refers to Marc Schneier as '
Al Sharpton's rabbi.' Now, Schneier's father, Arthur Schneier, one of the most senior rabbis of the Modern Orthodox community in the US gets in on the act in a big way. It's too bad they don't know how to spell 'rabbi' at al-Arabiya, so Schneier lost a letter off his title.
But this one is a doozer.
One of the leading U.S. rabbis on Saturday paid tribute to UN chief Ban Ki-Moon by calling him a "mensch" -- the Yiddish word for a person of great integrity -- at a Holocaust remembrance service, a day after the UN slammed Israeli’s settlement building in the West Ban.
The UN secretary general donned a kippah skullcap to honor Jewish Holocaust dead and survivor and other top UN diplomats went to the Park East synagogue in New York, where Rabbi Arthur Schneier has in the past welcomed Pope Benedict XVI and other leading religious dignitaries.
Schneier, who himself went through the Nazi crackdown in the Budapest ghetto in World War II, highlighted the "dwindling group of survivors" from the Nazi death camps who will be honored on International Holocaust Remembrance day on January 27.
"I never thought I would see the day when I would see the German and Russian ambassadors sat next to each other here," he said.
While Ban has often had tough words for Israeli policies, the rabbi called the UN leader a believer in "compassionate diplomacy, diplomacy from the heart."
Schneier called Ban "a mensch" and said "there is no greater tribute."
Note how al-Arabiya keeps stressing over and over again (there's another time I didn't cut and paste) how anti-Israel Ban is. But that didn't phase Schneier one little bit. Like son, like father, indeed.
