Uh oh... IDF soldier missing since Sunday

The Israel Police seeks the public's help in search of a missing soldier, David Menachem Gordon, 21, who was last seen on Sunday at about 12:00 pm in the Medical Corps facility in Tzrifin.
Gordon is 170 cm tall, has a medium build, brown eyes and black hair.
He was wearing the crisp, off-base Aleph or "A" IDF uniform with the purple Givati Brigade beret, was carrying a Micro Tavor gun and a large blue and back hiking backpack.
Gordon speaks both Hebrew and English with a prominent American accent.
Anyone with information on Gordon's whereabouts is asked to call the Police hotline at 100, or 08-927-9244.
Unfortunately, not a joke

The pictures are fake

The pictures that I posted that were Hamas' attempt to prove that they have Oron Shaul are fake. Yes, even the one posted above, which I thought was real, is fake.

For the proof, go here.

Either he's dead, or Hamas doesn't have him (or more likely, both). At best, they might have some of his documents or his dog tag. But nothing more than that.

Sick: Hamas sets up fake Twitter account in Oron Shaul's name - UPDATED

Tweets mostly in Hebrew and Arabic.

Disgusting.

As Akiva Novick writes on Facebook, Hamas is trading bodies using Google Translate.

IDF identifies soldier missing in Gaza as Oron Shaul

The IDF has named the soldier who is missing from Sunday's APC incident in Shejaiya. He is Oron Shaul, the soldier whom Hamas claims to have. The IDF does not know if he is alive or dead. The Facebook page to which I linked on Monday morning has been taken down. The other six soldiers in the APC were all found dead. This is from the first link.
An IDF soldier who was in an infantry APC targeted in a Hamas attack in Gaza on Sunday is missing, the army said Tuesday.
Six bodies of soldiers  who were on board the ACP when it was hit were identified, the army said, but a seventh soldier who was also on board remains unaccounted for. His fate remains unknown, and the IDF is working intensively to find answers.
The announcement came after Hamas claimed to have kidnapped an Israeli soldier on Sunday, not clarifying if he was alive or dead.
I'm going to share with you a couple of the images I found while searching for the one above.

I'm going to tell you flat out that I believe that the soldier is dead and that Hamas is holding a body. The body is probably being hidden somewhere in Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. I'm sick over this. I'm even sicker over it because of this sentence that appeared in the Times of London on Monday (sorry - I don't have a link. I received it by email), which has also appeared in Israeli media, but will likely not be addressed until the current war is over.
"However, in a development that may lead to criticism of Israel’s political elite, it emerged that seven of the soldiers were in an ageing 1960s’ armoured personnel carrier when they were killed by a rocket-propelled grenade. All were from the elite Golani Brigade."
Oron Shaul was one of those seven soldiers.

Second lone soldier killed in Gaza

In an earlier post, I reported on the death of a lone soldier - a soldier whose family lives abroad - from the United States who was killed in Sunday's fighting in Gaza. Unfortunately, I must now report on another one. Max Steinberg HY"D (May God Avenge his blood) of Los Angeles was also killed on Sunday in Gaza.
Steinberg was killed in action overnight on Sunday when the Golani Brigade operated extensively in the Gaza Strip.
Even before his death was cleared for publication, friends and family inundated his Facebook wall with appreciative posts honoring his service and mourning his death. “You are our hero, our inspiration, our savior. Thank you for protecting us. May you rest in peace,” a friend eulogized.
May God Console the family among all mourners for Zion and Jerusalem, and may they know of no more sorrow.

An Arab child runs toward an IDF soldier and then....

Some kids are too young to hate. IDF soldiers (actually, border police) patrolling in in Hebron give food to Arab kids - and this is not an unusual scene, despite the lies that the anti-Israel crowd tell you.

Let's go to the videotape.

'Kidnapping IDF soldiers at the heart of Palestinian culture'

In an earlier post, I reported that 'moderate' 'Palestinian' President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen had made a thinly veiled threat to kidnap IDF soldiers, saying that doing so is not part of 'Palestinian culture.' Hamas begs to differ. They believe that kidnapping IDF soldiers is at the heart of 'Palestinian culture.'
“Those who refuse to abduct Zionist soldiers renounce the pain and suffering of thousands of prisoners yearning for freedom,” wrote Abu-Ubaida, a spokesman for the Izz ad-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, on his Facebook page, echoing the words used by Abbas in his speech.
“Operations to capture enemy soldiers and trade them for our heroic prisoners are at the heart of our people’s culture, and are a source of pride for them and their resistance,” Abu-Ubaida added.
Well, at least Abu-Ubaida is honest.

IDF soldier kills potential kidnapper

I cannot tell you whether the IDF soldier about whom you are about to read is in the picture above. Possibly, but also possibly not.

In Halhoul, an Arab village north of Hebron, on Monday night, an IDF soldier killed a 'Palestinian' terrorist who was trying to kidnap him
An Arab near Halhul attacked a soldier,in a kidnapping attempt. The soldier shot the terrorist. Simultaneous to the attack, Palestinian websites reported that an IDF soldier was kidnapped. It appears the site jumped the gun. All traffic in the are was stopped as soldiers searched to make sure no soldier was missing.
I heard about this because my 13-year old son (son # 3, child # 6) called home from yeshiva to ask if it was true that an IDF soldier was kidnapped. He insisted that I immediately go online (I had just walked in the door) to check on it. You will all appreciate that now that I told him that it would be nice if he called home once or twice a week, he calls home to check rumors that he hears from other boys in yeshiva.

I'm sure those of you who have - or have had - teenagers understand why I'm telling you about this....

Pro-'Palestinian' websites post fake photos to incite against Israel

This photograph has unfortunately become common on pro-'Palestinian' websites (see this, for example). It is being promoted as a picture of an IDF soldier trampling on a 'Palestinian' child.

There's one small problem - the photo is a fake.

The uniform is not an IDF uniform, the boots aren't IDF boots and the weapon is a Russian issue AK-47 - the IDF uses American-made M-16's.

But why let facts get in the way?

Breaking: IDF soldier found dead in Ben Shemen forest

An IDF soldier who was last seen getting on a bus from Tel Aviv to Beit Shemesh last Monday has been found dead in the Ben Shemen forest, which is about midway between those two locations. The soldier's name was Bogdan (Dan) Shirikov (pictured). An earlier story appears here.

Further details when I have them.

UPDATE 12:51 PM

Israel Radio is reporting that this was a suicide and not a terror attack.
