Taharrush - the Arab rape 'game' that's been exported to Europe
What happened in Cologne and other cities in Europe on New Year's Eve is known in the Arab world as Taharrush. It's a rape 'game' and it's particularly unpleasant for the women caught up in it (Hat Tip: Ellen S).
The "rape game" Taharrush is about a large group of Arab men surrounding
their victim, usually a Western woman or a woman wearing Western-style
clothing, and then the women are subjected to sexual abuse.
They
surround the victim in circles. The men in the inner circle are the
ones who physically abuse the woman, the next circle are the spectators,
while the mission of the third circle is to distract and divert
attention to what's going on.
If there is enough men, the woman
is dragged along by the mob, while the men take turns ripping her
clothes off, grope her, and inserting fingers in her various body
orifices.
I have a mercifully short video of it to show you (safe for work, but parental discretion advised - I did not turn on this video with my kids in the room).
Let's go to the videotape. More after the video.
Sounds like what happened to CBS reporter Lara Logan in Cairo's Tahrir Square five years ago, doesn't it? More reading here.
And now thanks to Frau Merkel, it's been exported to Europe. Will the US be next?
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the ugliest of them all?
Writing in the Arab News, Abdulateef al-Muhlim argues that the Arab spring has revealed the true face of the Arabs, and it's an ugly sight (Hat Tip: Herb G).
Everyone knows the truth, but we won’t admit it. During the Arab Spring,
we saw our real faces in the mirrors. It showed that the Arabs were
never united and are now divided beyond anybody’s imagination. We hate
each other more than we hate the outside enemy. This is why no one in
the Arab world showed any sympathy to the Syrians when Israeli planes
attacked Syrian targets a few weeks ago. As a matter of fact, even
hardcore anti-Israelis wished the Israeli planes had continued eastward
and attacked the Syrian Presidential Palace and killed an Arab leader
named Bashar Assad. In other words, many in the Arab world sided with
Israel against an Arab country. After the attack, we saw many Syrians
approach the Israeli-fortified checkpoints in the Golan Heights, not to
attack Israeli soldiers, but to seek refuge and get medical attention. I
am not talking about simple medical care. I am talking about major
surgeries like the four-year-old Syrian girl who got a heart transplant
at Wolfson Hospital in Holon, Israel.
This is the real Arab Spring. Syrians are hurting Syrians and the
Israelis are the ones who treat the Syrian wounds. Yes, the Arab Spring
is a joke and I mean a very bad joke. The Arab Spring is not about
seeking democracy, it is about Arabs killing Arabs. And this is why
Israeli soldiers are busy on the Golan Heights. They are not busy with
loading ammunition; they are busy picking cherries and other fruits.
What is more, they are also busy giving guided tours to show the world
Syrian planes targeting civilians, Scud missiles destroying villages and
tanks attacking schools and mosques. What goes inside Syria is more
horrific. Syrian men humiliate Syrian women in front of their relatives,
rape and kill them. It is not only the killing that is ugly. We saw a
Syrian kill another Syrian and then open his chest with a knife and take
a bite of his heart. It can’t get any uglier.
Now, mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the ugliest of them all? Well,
they are all ugly. It has turned out that the Arab Spring is not about a
search for democracy, social justice and better standards of living.
The Arab Spring is all about hate and sectarian violence. The world
didn’t hear anything about rebuilding the countries or eradicating
poverty. The talk is all about fighting among the same people from the
same country.
And when he ran for Secretary General, this guy was supposed to be the 'better' candidate.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has blamed the 'occupation' for Arab backwardness. Talk about letting the Arabs avoid responsibility for their own actions....
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon laid partial blame for
stifled development in the Arab world on "protracted conflict, injustice
and occupation," in a message relayed Monday to the Third Arab Economic
and Social Development Summit in Saudi Arabia.
"The stalemate in
the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis is especially
troubling," said Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social
Commission for Western Asia Rima Khalaf, who delivered Ban's message.
He called for a renewal of "collective engagement to resume meaningful
negotiations that will realize Palestinian aspirations to live in
freedom and dignity in an independent State of their own, side by side
with Israel in peace and security."
The Arab world has no one but itself to blame for its backwardness. Itself, the way it practices Islam and the way it treats its women are all high on the list of reasons why the Arab world is stuck in the 8th century, And morons like Ban Ki-Moon who justify that behavior are high on the list of reasons why they will never modernize.
Just days after the IDF admitted that it engages in cyber warfare, Elbit Systems, one of the country's largest defense contractors, has announced the development of a cyber war simulator. Guess who bought it.
The cyber simulator, developed specifically for the training of government, military and critical civilian infrastructure cyber defense agencies, enables personal and group training of different users in locating, handling, and managing various cyber warfare events and attacks.
The simulator also offers training in prevention of cyber warfare events, by simulating network protection scenarios. It includes various network protection scenarios and allows debriefing and evaluation sessions in order to draw conclusions from the trainees’ training performance.
Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, general manager of Elbit’s Land and C4I Division, noted that various versions of the cyber simulator have already been supplied to an international client. According to Machlis, Elbit significantly invested in recent years in the development of new cyber technologies and has been active in the fields of network and system protection, cyber command and control systems, cyber protection of critical civilian infrastructure, and the development of special algorithms designated to identify various cyber warfare attacks.
I'll bet that the international client is the USA, but JPost also notes:
Elbit Systems, a leading Israeli defense contractor, unveiled its new cyber-simulator, which The Jerusalem Post has learned was already purchased by the IDF’s C4I Directorate.
...
In April, the IDF made history with the graduation of its first course of cyber-defenders, a new role established to prevent cyberattacks against IDF networks. One of the systems used in the training of the soldiers is Elbit’s new simulator.
Around 30 soldiers completed the course and were assigned to the IDF’s various branches, where they are responsible for preventing infiltrations into military networks.
Due to the presumed increase in the cyber-threat to Israel, the IDF general staff recently approved a multi-year program to beef up cyber-defenses including the expansion of personnel as well as new technological capabilities.
The IDF recently organized the units that deal with cyber-warfare, establishing offensive capabilities and operations within Military Intelligence’s Unit 8200 and defensive operations within a new division within the C4I Directorate.
One of the IDF’s primary concerns is the possibility that an enemy will topple military networks during a war. In recent years, the military has invested heavily in digitizing its ground forces through initiatives such as the Tzayad digital army program, which allows units to share information on the location of friendly and hostile units.
I'm sure our Arab and Muslim enemies are developingwill develop similar systems. Just as soon as they make it out of the 8th century. Heh.
A fascinating article in Sunday's New York Times by Iranian Karim Sadjapour provides some insight into how Iran uses Arab Muslims in its war against Israel.
Until now, Iran’s interests have been served by the Arab status quo: frustrated populations ruled over by emasculated regimes incapable of checking Israel, and easily dismissed as American co-dependents. A conversation I once had with a senior Iranian diplomat is instructive.
He complained, justifiably, about Washington’s excessive focus on military power to solve political problems. I posed a simple hypothetical: What if, instead of having spent several billion dollars financing Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad over the past three decades, Iran had spent that money educating tens of thousands of Palestinians and Lebanese Shiites to become doctors, professors and lawyers? Wouldn’t those communities now be much better off and in a much stronger position to assert their rights vis-à-vis Israel?
“What good would that have done for Iran?” he responded candidly. (He himself had a doctorate from a British university.) “Do you think if we sent them abroad to study they would return to southern Lebanon and Gaza to fight Israel? Of course not; they would have remained doctors, lawyers and professors.”
Iran, in essence, understands that it can inspire and champion the region’s downtrodden and dispossessed, but not the upwardly mobile. Its strategy to dominate the Middle East hinges less on building nuclear weapons than on the twin pillars of oil and alienation.
The longer I live here and the more I read, the more convinced I am that it is Islam that is responsible for Israel's dispute with the Arabs.
Imagine the unlikely outcome that all of the current 'revolutions' in Arab countries were to be democratic and without an Islamist component. Imagine, if you would, that the Arabs will vote just like most people in the West vote: Am I better off economically than I was two or four or five or six years ago? Does anyone really doubt that we would reach an agreement with such reasonable democrats within some period of time?
Of course, what I'm discussing is a fantasy world. In the real world, most Arabs are loyal Muslims and they are required by their religion to attempt to subjugate, convert or murder Jews - and Christians for that matter. It is for that reason that a 'peace agreement' between Israel and its Arab neighbors is unlikely to be attained or sustained. In the real world, Iran and other 'true believers' will continue to fight to the last Lebanese, Gazan, Egyptian and Syrian - and Iranian for that matter - to destroy Israel (God forbid).
Bret Stephens delivers a stinging indictment of Arab backwardness in light of the 'blame the Jews' game being played in the aftermath of the Alexandria car bombing.
But the ultimate source of Arab backwardness, unmentioned by most of these studies, lies in the debasement of the Arab mind. When the only diagnosis Egyptians can offer for their various predicaments—ranging from sectarian terrorism to a recent spate of freak shark attacks at a Sinai beach resort—is that it's all a Zionist plot, you know that the country is in very deep trouble.
Is there a way out? George W. Bush thought he had an answer with the freedom agenda, and Barack Obama thinks he has one in what might be called the respect agenda. But freedom and respect for what? Egyptians will enjoy neither until they develop and adopt a set of political ideas that rests on something more than obscurantism, conspiracy and a zero-sum struggle for power.
In a word, Egyptians need liberalism (of the old-fashioned kind), which begins not with a vote but with an education. Distributing an Arabic translation of the complete works of John Locke, starting with his "Letter Concerning Toleration," would be a good place to begin undoing the damage so cruelly done in Alexandria.
The backwardness cannot be reversed overnight, but if it is to be reversed someone has to start somewhere. So far, there is no indication that anyone has started at all. Instead, the world pretends that the behavior of Egypt and other Arab countries is 'normal' to avoid being seen as 'racist' or offensive.
By the way, if you think I'm exaggerating the blame being placed at Israel's doorstep, please consider this sick, anti-Semitic video linked by Andrew Bolt (who also described it as sick).
Let's go to the videotape. Please watch until the end.
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004.
