'Emergency meeting' in Jerusalem this evening to salvage 'peace talks'

This one is a liveblog. (Not by me - by Haaretz).

US envoy Martin Indyk is holding an 'emergency meeting' in Jerusalem this evening to try to salvage the 'peace talks.'
7:10 P.M. Efforts are ongoing to prevent the collapse of the Washington-sponsored peace talks. U.S. envoy Martin Indyk will hold an emergency meeting tonight in Jerusalem. The meeting will be attended by Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and negotiator Isaac Molho on the Israeli side, and by Saeb Erekat on the Palestinian side. (Barak Ravid)
Hmmm.

Carl -

You know as well as I do Saeb Erekat is not going to offer Israel anything.

All Israel can do is to capitulate. I'm sure Molcho and Livni would be happy to pay the price. The Palestinian Arabs will never offer Israel peace. The real reason for extending the pretend peace talks is to keep Obama and Kerry happy.

That's the bottom line here. What could go wrong indeed

You still have to wonder why? What's the upside for Obama? It must be simple hubris.
