Iran's charm offensive came to an end on Sunday, with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni calling the 'Zionist regime' 'an illegitimate and bastard regime.' The Zionist regime is an illegitimate and bastard regime," Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Sunday.
Khamenei also criticized the United States and its close relations with Israel, whose existence is unrecognized by Tehran, AFP reported.
"The Americans have the highest indulgence towards the Zionists and they have to. But we do not share such indulgence," AFP quoted Khamenei as saying.Monday marks the 34th anniversary of the seizure of the US embassy in Tehran.
This past Monday, I met up with an old friend in New York, who assured me that Iran wouldn't be so irrational as to drop a nuclear bomb on Israel, "because they know they would be destroyed."
