US official: Syria destroyed evidence but little doubt of chem weapons attack

An American official has told the Jerusalem Post that Syria has destroyed evidence of a chemical weapons attack outside Damascus last Wednesday, but the United States has little doubt that the attack took place.
“If the Syrian government had nothing to hide and wanted to prove to the world that it had not used chemical weapons in this incident, it would have ceased its attacks on the area and granted immediate access to the UN – five days ago," the official said.
"At this juncture, the belated decision by the regime to grant access to the UN team is too late to be credible, including because the evidence available has been significantly corrupted as a result of the regime’s persistent shelling and other intentional actions over the last five days."
Extensive evidence indicates that sarin gas was used against civilians in Ghouta on April 21, killing upwards of 1,000.
"Based on the reported number of victims, reported symptoms of those who were killed or injured, witness accounts, and other facts gathered by open sources, the US intelligence community, and international partners, there is very little doubt at this point that a chemical weapon was used by the Syrian regime against civilians in this incident," the official added.
Assad officials, including the foreign minister, gave rare interviews to foreign media outlets on Saturday strongly denying claims that its government had used chemical weapons against its own people on Wednesday in the Damascus suburb of Ghouta, despite Western officials stating they have "little doubt" the attack occurred.
And as was the case with Libya and with the disclosure of the Iranian nuclear plant in Qom, it's the British and the French who are taking the lead, and not the Obama administration.
London and Paris have been working in close concert with the White House on preparations. Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron said on Friday that confirmation of chemical weapons use on such a mass scale would disrupt international standards of warfare, and would require a "serious response."
What could go wrong?

So death/sickness f chemicals in a (n objectionable) leader's own truncated territory, without actual forensics "proving" that it wasn't Bashar Assad's Cannibal opposition who did it?

Obama's US will go to war based on "little doubt" of what actually could be a Paliwood-style misdirection? And Israel is going along with it... putting the Cannibals in charge on your northern border?

What happened to the idea of just defending Israel and maybe Jordan and not taking sides between the deatheaters? Is there a specific reason to team up with Obama in your own suicide, rather than, say, coming out against some more Cannibals: Boko Haram and calling on Obama to do likewise? I am really missing something here.

And, furthermore, can Russia be asked to do a forensic investigation in Damascus? And to start shipping out the chem shells, if it actually is Assad or his bro who did something, as opposed to the Black Flag Cannibals, who actually it seems more logical would be attacking an Assad area, rather than one of the Assad's gassing their own supporters.

Why would Israel not be calling for the Russians to get this stuff under control... the Russians probably have serial numbers and could track down what they've sent in there.. and get it under control.
