US issues travel warning for Golan Heights
The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem advises U.S. citizens that due to fighting between Syrian opposition forces and the Syrian military in the central portion of the Disengagement Zone in the Golan Heights near the Syrian town of Qunaitra, travel on route 98 in the Golan Heights or any road or point east of route 98 is off limits for all U.S. Government personnel for the next 72 hours. U.S. citizens are advised to defer non-essentialtravel to and within the Golan Heights and to exercise an extra measure of caution.
