Bulgaria has new evidence linking Hezbullah to Burgas
The Bulgarian government has new evidence linking Hezbullah to the terror attack in Burgas last year in which five Israelis and a Bulgarian bus driver were murdered.A Bulgarian representative to the European Union said Wednesday that investigators have discovered that a Hezbollah operative was the owner of a printer used to produce fake documents that facilitated the July 19 bombing of a bus filled with Israeli tourists in Burgas. Five Israelis and their Bulgarian driver were killed in the attack.
The disclosure was made at a meeting of the CP931 working group, according to an EU diplomat who was present. The group is charged with determining whether the European Union will blacklist Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
“The Bulgarians put new evidence on the table during this meeting,” the diplomat said. “Their representative said the printer had been sold to someone from Hezbollah.”
The meeting was the second session convened at the request of Britain, which regards Hezbollah’s military wing as a terrorist entity and last month cited the Burgas attack in a motion to have the British position adopted by the European Union.
