Busted! Italians stop Gaza arms shipment based on tip from Israel

Why is the theme from Love Boat (which I cannot listen to right now because I don't listen to music this year) going through my head?

Italian authorities raided a shipment of weapons that was headed for Egypt over the weekend. The shipment's ultimate destination was likely Gaza and Hamas.

A shipment of weapons bound for Egypt has been intercepted by Italian authorities in the port of Naples, the Italian news agency ANSA reported on Saturday.

The report, confirmed by Italian police, said that the operation to seize the weapons was based on information Italy received from Israel.

One Egyptian national was taken into custody by Italian police, according to the report.

The shipment in question reportedly included five containers, one of which held a rocket launcher.

The five containers are being examined in an area of the port cordoned off by Italian security forces.
Still dreaming about taking Mrs. Carl on the Love Boat.... Not this year I'm afraid....

I don't think Captain Stubing (Gavin McLeod, who's an evangelical Christian) and the Love Boat crew would be willing to transport weapons for a murderous terrorist organization.

On the other hand, they'd no doubt be happy to carry a cruise of Nobel Prize winners and their families. That'd be a small number of folks, leaving quite a few available cabins, so go for it, Carl, that'd be a terrific anniversary present for your Mrs. :-)
