EU decides Modiin is not in Israel

The European Union has decided that Modiin is not in Israel, and therefore products that come from there are not entitled to preferential treatment under the EU's tax treaties with Israel.
The commission has decided to include the zip codes of Modiin-Maccabim-Reut in the list. The "Non Eligible Locations" list states the following:

"The list below is drawn up for the purpose of determining whether products may be eligible for preferential tariff treatment under the EU-Israel Association Agreement(1). Such treatment will be refused to products for which the proof of origin indicates that the production conferring originating status has taken place in a locality within the territories brought under Israeli administration since June 1967."

The Israeli mission to the EU explained Tuesday that the EU has decided to unilaterally change Modiin-Maccabim-Reut's statues to that of a city located outside the Green Line.

The move is unlikely to have any major effect on Israel's economy.

Sources familiar with import rules told Ynet that the move means to enhance the regulation placed by the EU on products made by Israeli communities in the West Bank, which for itself represents a capitulation to pro-Palestinian elements seeking to derail Israel's economy.

However, the sources stressed that a cursory review of the list found that the zip codes included on it did not include Modiin's industrial zone or any industry that currently exports products to the European Union.

The Israel Export Institute said that move was puzzling, adding that "As an organization that aspires to promote Israeli exports we decry any limitation that may infringe on Israeli exporters' activities, even if the steps pertain to small industrial zones."
I wonder how many other disputed territories are similarly treated by the EU.

I also wonder how many 'Palestinians' would lose their jobs if the industrial area were to close.

Modiin and Reut are clearly not over the green line, and were intentionally constructed to be within the green line. Maccabim and Hashmonaim (which is not mentioned) straddle the line. Ironically, Reut is a town which is largely Leftist and includes the families of many former IDF officers. One of the senior partners in one of my old law firms, who was a flaming Leftist, lived there, as did one of my Leftist colleagues from my government service days.

Remember my words: very soon the EU will exclude from Israel the cities located beyond the 1947 partition line.

One of our friends who lives in Modi'in posted on this yesterday... saying they thought of moving to an area over the green line. And now, without even having to move out of Modi'in they'll get the label of "settler." (In case you don't know, Modi'in is the quintessential SoCal master planned community well within the line (which county would it be, if there were counties?).

It's going to take Counties and "maquiladoras" on the boundry between them. Otherwise, the Palestinians are going to sink into abject poverty. Mentally ill Euros. Don't care about people. Only their own infinite sickness. Seriously, Euros, if you don't agree with this garbage, you really need to speak to your unelected EU masters, rather than wimping out and wanting the Jews or Israel to do it for you. Ugh....

Looks to me like another White Paper the Europeans are trying to give to appease the Arabs, like the Europeans did in 39.
Israel needs to stand up against these Pro Arab, Pro Terrorist Europeans.

Well it sort of makes sense since all of Europe is clearly occupied Arab lands as well.
