Video of women and children killed in Hama, Syria on Thursday morning

There was another massacre carried out by Bashar al-Assad's troops in Hama, Syria on Thursday morning. About 100 people were killed, mostly women and children.

YNet posted a video that purports to be bodies of women and children who were murdered in Hama. Because I don't like YNet's embed codes (either they don't work, or they play automatically), I went to YouTube, and actually pulled a longer version of the same video, which I am posting below, together with some of YNet's narrative.

Let's go to the videotape.

A video posted on the Internet Thursday purportedly shows bodies of women and children who were killed in the central Hama district. "Look, Arab nations – is this a terrorist?" the cameraman says as he points to one of the bodies. "These are woman and children who were leaving school."

The cameraman then points to another body and says, "Look world, Arab countries, foreigners – is this little child a terrorist who collaborated with Israel?" He was referring to Assad's claims that the opposition was collaborating with the Jewish state.

Al Arabiya reported that prominent opposition group the Syrian National Council, said forces loyal to Assad massacred about 100 people, including many women and children, at the small village of al-Kubeir. They said only four villagers survived.
Here's a report from Russia's English language RT network, which tries to downplay Assad's army's role since they're on Assad's side.

Let's go to the videotape.

Awful....

This is horrifying.

As bad as it is, imagine Israel were to get involved by actively engaging and killing Assad's forces, protecting the women and children who so desperately needed it. Imagine the fall out from that.

Arabs would be seething. The UN GA would be outraged and pass a continuous set of resolutions against Israel. The UN SC would be outraged, Obama would tell Rice not to vote, and Israel would be punished. For doing the right thing.

And the people Israel would have saved? They'd deny that Israel saved them.

Because its death before the dishonor of allowing yourself to be aided by such a terrible power.

If this isn't the most f----d up situation in the world, I dunno what is.

I am outraged by the slaughter of wives, mothers, and children. Might be because I am a father, and a human being. But I am also a jew, which means that my help is not wanted by those I can help. Which makes it all the worse, as Israel could crush the Assad army, and help those people.

But if we did that, we would be hated.

This is a no win situation. If we don't act, innocents die. If we do act, we get hammered, and possibly attacked.

I for one would like to see Israel crush Assad's armed forces. But you know, you just know that there is an Israel hating Islamist lurking in the background, ready to leap in and take over after others have spilt blood.

The calculus is not in Israel's or the Jews favor, ever. So we do something as morally repulsive as sitting on our hands when we can make a difference. We do that, because we know whats coming will be worse than whats there now. Just look at Egypt.

I am sure they can rely on Allah to do the right thing.
