Anyone who doesn’t see a looming clash between a Muslim Brotherhood-led Egypt and Israel is wearing blinders and earplugs. This is an election rally for the MB’s presidential candidate, Muhammad Mursi. It’s an anti-Israel hate fest. (Transcript: http://bit.ly/KCoqKY.) On Sunday, I heard Deputy National Security Adviser Denis McDonough sugarcoat the chaos in Egypt. He’s either disingenuous or a fool.
A bunch of envious incompetents... They mention "caliphate" once in this video. Otherwise it is "united states of the Arabs"? Really? Copycats. No innovation of their own?
Nope. They don't want their traditional Mecca or Medina as their Capital? Nope. Gotta have Jerusalem because the superbness of the Jews might have soaked into that city and maybe the United States of the Arabs could get some of it to rub off on them?
Banish the sleep from the eyes of all Jews? What does that mean?
Why on earth would you characterize this coming conflagration as a "looming clash between..."? As far as I can tell, Israel has done nothing other than to want to do joint business enterprises with Egypt (REJECTED!) and occasionally (*very* occasionally!) stop attacks on Israeli civilians coming from the Sinai and Gaza.
So I would categorize this "coming clash" rather as "Egypt's coming attack on Israel." Provoked, according to this video, simply by the existence of Jews within range of being murdered by these Egyptians. They'd rather get to murdering than make their own country better. So once the Jews are dead, their poor will just lie down and die from starvation. Such a benighted plan.
But, they keep telling us that life on this planet is not something precious. And that making things better for people now and the next generation (on this earth) is counter to their views.
So, Martin (and Carl!), "clash" is a misnomer. Give yourselves the credit you are due!
My only thought was, "What a tempting target for white phosphorous or Napalm!" Of course, I'm only kidding. That would be an inexcusable waste of the chemicals.
And on the second day after Egyptian armed forces were smacked down do hard they'll talk about it for a thousand years, the Brotherhood declared a great victory and it was good?
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004. You can contact me at: IsraelMatzav at gmail dot com
