Overnight music video

Mrs. Carl and I went to two weddings tonight - both out of town. At one of the weddings, Yosef Chaim Shwekey sang with the band. And so....

Here's Yosef Chaim Shewkey with Mi Adir, a song that is sung under the wedding canopy.

Let's go to the videotape.

Lovely! I like Mr. Shewkey's voice. So, as I'm watching, I'm suddenly realizing that here we have a group of mixed men and women playing the music... so (in relation to the IDF rules) it is ok for women's music to be heard by men as long as it is an instrument and not a singing voice. But hearing an verbal order from a woman is ok (and if they are ranking, would be acknowledged and obeyed). And it is ok for the women to see this man singing verses? This would actually be more open than our local Chabad, which puts women to the side with opaque screens blocking the men's section (where the bimah is - can't see the bimah) and where it is a rebuke-worthy infraction to move one's (female) head to look through a gap in the screens to see a son in an aliya. I'd like to know the IDF's citation of Torah verses calling for these things. I have trouble reconciling it with the Torah I've studied.
