How's this for disingenuous?
With all of Israel now knowing that he's one of the people financing the 'tent city' in Tel Aviv, S. Daniel Abraham tells the Jerusalem Post that the protests are 'not political.'Channel 10 led its newscast Tuesday night with an interview with Abraham admitting that he supported the protests financially and speaking about a motive of wanting to support the peace process and oppose settlement construction. The Hebrew press interpreted his remarks as proof that the tent protest movement was political. He's got to be kidding. If this were truly a protest about the cost of housing in Israel, the protesters wouldn't care how the problem is solved so long as it is solved. But the fact is that these protests - partly sponsored by Kadima and the New Israel Fund - are a blatant politicized effort to bring down the Netanyahu government. Abraham's admission that he is supporting the protests to support the 'peace process' and oppose 'settlement construction' just makes the protests more political, especially when one considers that 'settlement construction' could help ease the 'housing crisis,' the alleviation of which is allegedly the protests' principal goal.
Abraham denied that interpretation in an interview with The Jerusalem Post Wednesday night.
"My support for the protests doesn't make them political," Abraham said. "I am not in charge of the protests. They don't ask my opinion on things. I help support Bar-Ilan University, Tel Aviv University, and children at risk, but that doesn't make the institutions I support political."
There are now more parties that brag about supporting the protests:
The National Union of Israeli Students has put out a statement saying that it funded the protests while suppliers of equipment contributed it and singers performed for free. The New Israel Fund also takes credit for supporting the housing protesters in multiple ways on the organization's web site. Not political? That's the most disingenuous statement I've heard all week.

Maybe apart from what he said, from Israel Hayom, that he believes in giving up Yesha but not Jerusalem!!
all allied with the Livni gang
I'm somewhat confused now. So Mr. Abraham is Orthodox? His "New Synagogue", or whatever it is called in Florida, was founded why? Maybe because they couldn't stick with the conservatism that actual study of the Torah, without changing its meaning, brings about? "Social and Economic Justice" philosophy (not to mention the marxism Carl described yesterday, even still in Israel) does not coincide with the economic system outlined in the Torah. But what about this Mr. Abraham... who has founded his new synagogue with seemingly Orthodox people.
If any non-marxist economists are reading Carl's blog, could you please write an essay, or better, a book, or best an online course on the Economics of the Torah? And proposals for applying it to post-industrial revolution/electronic age free society? I think capitalism runs closer than the U.K. style dole state, which seems to be resulting in people murderously coveting any achievement and burning down their own neighborhoods. Carl, do you know anybody like that? We need to do this...
