Dick Morris: Obama losing Jewish voters

Dick Mkorris has drilled down a bit into those poll results I presented on Tuesday and has concluded that Barack Hussein Obama is losing even more Jewish voters.
If the election were held today, President Obama would get only 56 percent of the Jewish vote against a generic Republican candidate, down from the 78 percent he won in 2008 and less than the 74 percent John Kerry received in 2004.

This is the key finding of a survey of 1,000 Jewish voters I conducted from June 20-27 using telephone and Internet interviews. After asking basic questions of the entire sample, I proceeded to drill down with more detailed questions for the Jews in the sample who identified themselves as Democrats. The overall survey has a 95 percent confidence of a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.

Triggering the increasing Jewish disaffection with Obama is opposition to his proposal that an Israeli return to ’67 borders be the starting point of peace negotiations. By 10-83, Jewish voters opposed the plan. Jewish Democrats opposed it by 10-67. Asked if President Obama is “too biased against Israel,” Jewish voters as a whole agreed with the charge by 39-30, while 32 percent of Jewish Democrats also agreed (and 40 percent of Jewish Democrats disagreed).
Read the whole thing. This one is awesome.

Shmuel Rosner adds:
Obama, concludes Morris "is in the process of breaking the close relationship between his party and the Jewish community". I think this is probably an overstatement. However, one should not underestimate the level of Jewish uneasiness with Israel-related policies of the Obama administration. As Ben Smith aptly writes: "perhaps the clearest sign that there's something afoot: A new push from the Obama campaign to win back pro-Israel Jewish support". In other words: If the Obama people are worried, there's reason to suspect that the numbers discussed above do not meet their expectations.
Heh.

The real impetus driving those numbers is the economy. As long there's no recovery in sight, Obama is not going to better his own performance among American Jews in 2008.

...and he's certainly not going to get Jackie Mason's vote!

...Obama's such a di--piece of work on so many levels. As an internet wag notes: "Everything out of his mouth has a time limit attached--sometimes it only takes hours before he terminates a previous statement"...

Here O "leaves political rhetoric at the door":

I would like to see them asked if they would vote for the Republican instead or just not vote at all.

LOL

As much as I like Obama, and hope he'll win a second term, (Inshallah he will), I have to admit that's true. Every major statement he has made, he ultimately backpedalled on re-interpreted, or simply claimed people didn't understand what he meant, and then re edited his words to clarify whatever it was he meant.

He is a ditherer.

So much for the propoganda that he is a tool of the Muslim Brotherhood, or in cahoots with the Muslim world, or is a secret Muslim, his ratings are actually not that high in the Muslim world. Even when he gave his speech in Cairo, he was regarded with quiet suspicion

...hmmmm.

Chayma, I would say his ultimate instinct is to make that big Islamic and Arab world like him and he's emotionally, unable to assess and prioritize the dangers of political Islamist designs on Israel or American interests (outreach to Iran, adoption of Palestinian meme that East Jerusalem Jewish neighborhoods--with holy sites--are illegitimate; insistence that Israel agree to withdraw to 1949 demarcation lines with swaps--approved by Fatah--before even discussing Palestinian demands for right of return--that previous Presidents, but not O, forthrightly rejected, etc.) .

but, yes, imo, there is an overlay of curiously publicly displayed expedient mendacity and public attempts to backtrack tactically from his own strategic impulses--his administrative instincts and his gut ability to know what to leave alone and when are underdeveloped and immature, so he dithers and wanders into thickets.

On the other hand the world is chaotic and history often unkind. And back to our first hand, he generally dithers in one direction: "progressive"ly lefwards.
