Video: Two men in Iran burn Koran
And you thought the earlier video I showed you of a woman in Colorado burning the Koran in her kitchen was something.Here are two anonymous men in Iran burning the Koran (Hat Tip: Memeorandum).
This seven-and-a-half minute long video shows the two men, their faces obscured, holding the Muslim holy book and reading prepared statements. They say that Arabs have foisted this book and their homelands and because of it they have gone backwards for 1400 years. They say they dislike the Koran and want it to disappear, adding "Viva freedom!"Let's go to the videotape.
The truth is that I doubt this is going to rile up the Muslim world as much as the video I showed last night. There are three reasons for that - none of which have anything to do with the bacon. First, Muslims burn Korans all the time because they attack each other's mosques. Second, Muslims find it much more infuriating for 'infidels' to burn the Koran than for Muslims. Third, I don't believe most Iranians are really that religious. In Iran, Islam is more of a political thing - and I think a lot of Persians resent it like these men (one of whom is Afghani) do.
Will they be caught? Three people know who they are - the two burners and the filmmaker. No, I doubt they'll be caught.
But let's hope that like the Tunisian who self-immolated that this is the start of something big.

hey i`m from iran and i wanted to say we hate islam here in iran nobody understand what qoran says qoran is in arabic we speak persian we are persian we are not muslim islam forced on us by sword in 7 century after the fall of persian empire. we have no problem with other countries and people please don`t judge us bcuz of the govement. jews are our friends the queen esther was persian jewish the prophet daniel worked in persian court and etc.. anyway with respect nersi from tehran
