US threatens to cut aid to Lebanon

The United States has warned Lebanon's President Michel Suleiman that naming a March 8 (Hezbullah) camp nominee to form a government as Prime Minister will result in the suspension of all US aid to Lebanon.
American sources revealed that the United States is closely monitoring the political developments in Lebanon and it wants to clearly stipulate that the mere naming of a March 8 camp candidate to form a new Cabinet will jeopardize all U.S. aid programs to Lebanon and the basis of partnership between the two countries.

They told the daily An Nahar in remarks published on Saturday that this message is primarily directed towards President Michel Suleiman and to a lesser degree towards Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat over the importance his political clout has in drastically shifting power in parliament.

These statements were accompanied by U.S. National Security Advisor Tom Donilon's assertions that the United States is committed to diplomatic efforts to tackle the Lebanese crisis, including French ones aimed at forming an international group to support the Lebanese government.

He added that Hizbullah will have a hard time in maintaining its political rhetoric as a resistance group while it is simultaneously curbing a government's goal to uncover the truth in the assassination of a prominent figure in Lebanon's history.

Meanwhile, other sources in the U.S. Congress told An Nahar that statements of support to caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Lebanon's independence, and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon are linked to Lebanon's commitment to international resolutions and the presence of a government headed by Hariri or any politician from the March 14 camp.
This is not really surprising. The US cannot and will not support Hezbullah. But whether the Obama administration will do anything to stop Hezbullah from taking over Lebanon is a different story.

Hezbullah wants to control Lebanon without actually ruling it, but that may not be possible anymore.

Well,Hezbollah live there...sure willing allies/stooges of Teheran until there's a falling out, but they're in country. After 1983 the States would rather be out of Lebanon. Israel lately runs in and out again. Is anybody outside of Lebanon willing to put boots on the ground there for this?

This is what makes abu-Hussein so dangerous. He doesn't need to visibly support any Iranian proxies in order to provide aid and comfort. He simply needs to not act when the time comes. He just needs to gator arm the fly ball that comes his way.

He made this clear when Iranians by the thousands were demonstrating for Democracy. He hung them out to dry. This was a clear warning to any who oppose tyrannical Islamist dictators/regimes. The current US leadership will not have your back. You oppose third rate tyrants at your own peril.

I'll take the State of Hawaii's word that BHO is an American by birth. That said, his work clearly demonstrates that is not an American by spirit. He is about as American as Gideon Levy is Jewish.
