If you live in Tel Aviv, your time just got a little shorter
Although I couldn't find it on my blog, I'm fairly sure I have posted this map, which is sitting on my desk as a postcard, once before. The map tells you how long you have to reach shelter in the event of a rocket attack anywhere in Israel (yes, it's come to this). Those of you who read Hebrew will note that the band of Tel Aviv and its environs have two minutes to reach shelter. Not any more. MyBackYard just got a little closer.
The IDF Home Front Command has shortened the warning time for Tel Aviv area residents against incoming missiles from two minutes to 90 seconds, largely due to Hizbullah and Hamas’ improved missiles.Aren't you glad we developed Iron Dome to protect the IDF bases? What could go wrong?

In practice, those are numbers are a joke. If you are caught out in the open, good luck with dodging a missile and making it in time to a shelter.
Israel is the only country in the world in which an expensive anti-missile system was developed to defend its military rather than people. And the politicians show no shame in leaving them unprotected in the face of growing enemy arsenals.
What could go wrong indeed
Why not app that directs you to the nearest shelter from your present location?.
