Wait til Halil Majnoon hears of this! He'll denounce the Saudis for being seduced by the Zionist cabal!

I'm amazed that Ahmadi was allowed to write this and that a Saudi paper actually printed it. His column subtly points to the fact that the Arab world is so far behind Israel, and the West in general, that they can't even see daylight. By not casting any external blame, the article also subtly hints that this is a self-inflicted condition of Arab society.

I suspect that there are lots of thinking Arabs who see this but, due to the hyper-sensitivity of Arab society and their dictatorial governments, can't do anything about it. Even this courageous, oblique expression of this truth is probably as far as any Arab not living in the West dare go.

Even Dr. Wafa Sultan, living in America, has received numerous, serious death threats and now, with her family, has to live under heavy security. Unless and until Arab society opens up to reasonable criticism, they remain in a closed loop, with little hope of real change.
