Uh oh... Netanyahu backing off Jordan Valley demand
When Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke at Bar Ilan University in June 2009, one of the conditions he laid out was an Israeli (IDF) presence on the border between the 'Palestinians' and Jordan to prevent infiltrations from the East. Now, Netanyahu is apparently backing off that condition.Michael Oren at a dinner arranged by the Center for Middle East Peace said Wednesday night that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has "stated his commitment to continuing a phased Israeli army presence in the Jordan Valley."Does Netanyahu have any red lines? Apparently not. Here's betting that by the end of his term this 'security presence' will be non-Israeli troops who are unlikely to risk their lives to save the Joooos.
"We understand that this may conflict with the search for dignity on the part of the Palestinians. That is why we stress the word phased," he said.
Netanyahu has made clear that he wants Israeli troops to remain in a demilitarized Palestinian state -- a condition that Palestinian negotiators have said is unacceptable.
"The great fear is that this border during a period when the Palestinian state is still in its inchoate stages not entirely capable of guarding its borders will prove porous -- will prove porous to hostile elements, will prove porous to ammunition and rockets," Oren told the group.
It was the second indication on Wednesday that such a presence would not be permanent under Netanyahu. Earlier in the day, Netanyahu spokesman Mark Regev said Israel's presence may be reviewed.
"That presence can be reviewed over time, and in accordance with performance," Regev said, according to The Associated Press. "But initially it will be required in any peace agreement."
How many Israelis have to die for [choke] 'Palestinian dignity'? What a load of crap.
Yes, I am sick and tired of hearing about the 'Palestinians' and their dignity. Read the whole thing. And then let's look for a spine for Netanyahu.

And you wondered why so many Orthodox Jews in the US disapprove of Netanyahu while also disapproving of Obama. This is why.
Surrendering Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley will mean an Iranian presence minutes from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
This is why I am opposed to a Palestinian state. And if Netanyahu drops his demand, it will be impossible to keep a Palestinian state demilitarized. We've seen just how effective UNIFIL peacekeepers are at that mission in Lebanon.
Think the world is going to die for the Jews? Netanyahu should think again and his party should oppose his proffered concession. Its dangerous to Israel's existence, its ability to defend itself and to its very survival.
