Portugal upgrades relations with the 'Palestinian Authority'

The government of Portugal has upgraded its relations with the 'Palestinian Authority.'
Portugal has upgraded its relations with the Palestinian Authority. The Portugese representatives in Ramallah will now be known as a “delegation,” while the PA representative in Lisbon is now an “ambassador.” The change was reported by the PA news agency Ma'an.
You may recall that in July, the United States upgraded the status of the PLO mission in Washington, albeit not to as high a status as Portugal just chose.

Portugal defeated Canada this week for a non-permanent, non-veto wielding position on the UN Security Council.

What could go wrong?

That leads me to believe the payoff to the PA was in exchange for the Portuguese seat on the UN Security Council. The Arabs know how to buy votes. Not much Israel can do about it.

But we know Portugal is not there because it won the election with clean hands.

The interesting thing about the UNSC vote is that the media here in Canada is saying that Canada had received written promises from enough countries to guarantee a win against Portugal. Obviously quite a few countries went back on their word. I don't think you can conclusively say which ones they were but we do know that UAE was one of them.

I will bet you anything the Islamic countries collectively put the kibosh on Canada's chances to join the UNSC, because they saw that where Canada could not be bribed, Portugal could.

Anyhow, it's a perfect opportunity for the western nations (the ones who give credibility to UN) to admit that the Muslim world has hijacked the UN.

Callously slandering other people is reproachable.
It makes me wonder what kind of "moral ground" you seem to advocate.
If you represent your government, then I couldn't possibly happier about the outcome.
