Obama's blow-up over Ramat Shlomo

This is the third part of the Klein and Chesnoff piece about President Obama's relations with the Jewish community. This part deals with the Ramat Shlomo incident last March. Although I blogged a lot about that incident, there are details in here that I didn't know that make it look even worse.
The following day, during a 43-minute harangue, Hillary delivered a set of ultimatums to Netanyahu. Prefacing each remark with the phrase "I have been instructed to tell you," Hillary demanded that Israel release a substantial number of Palestinian prisoners as a token of goodwill; lift its siege of Gaza; suspend all settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem; accept that a symbolic number of Palestinians be given the "right of return" to Israel under a future peace treaty; and agree to place the question of the status of Jerusalem at the top of the peace-talks agenda.

"If you refuse these demands," Hillary told Netanyahu, according to our sources, "the United States government will conclude that we no longer share the same interests."

Netanyahu bit his tongue and remained noncommittal about the American demands, though he did eventually agree to ease the blockade of Gaza.

That same Friday, the Israeli ambassador to Washington, Michael Oren, was summoned to the State Department and given a severe dressing down. Someone who saw Oren that night at a party described him as "shaken."

And things did not end there. Ten days later, Netanyahu was invited to the White House, where he was treated to further browbeating and humiliation. Photographers were banned from recording the visit. And at one point, President Obama left Netanyahu to have dinner with his wife Michelle and their daughters, Malia and Sasha.

"I'm going upstairs," the president told Netanyahu, according to my sources. "Call me when you're ready to talk substance."

Netanyahu and his entourage were then left to cool their heels in the Roosevelt Room. At one point, the Israeli delegation asked for something to drink and food. They were served non-kosher food, which some of them wouldn't eat.

The White House seemed strangely indifferent to the feelings of resentment that its treatment of Netanyahu aroused in the Jewish community. For shortly after Netanyahu returned to Israel, the president risked provoking even greater Jewish outrage by insinuating that American troops were dying in Iraq and Afghanistan because Israel refused to agree to peace with the Palestinians. The Israeli-Arab conflict "is costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasures," the president said.
But there's almost no likelihood that any of that would make most American Jews vote Republican. Why?

U.S. Jews won't vote Republican, and the vast majority will always stay with the Democrats because for American Jewry, liberalism has come to be their new religion, replacing Judaism as the "old time religion". Liberalism has been hijacked by the left as "their" own belief, and won't let anyone from the right get a look in. Heaven forfend that a Jew should be considered illiberal, ergo... QED.

Wow, that list of demands is pretty much exactly what we hear from the loony left. But this particularly caught my eye - "lift its siege of Gaza".

Surprise surprise, Obama lied when he visited Sderot during his campaign. And it certainly explains the US position on 'credible' investigations into the flotilla fiasco.

It couldn't be clearer that Israel can't trust the US while Obama is in office... Scary stuff.

If US and UK Jews continually vote for anti-Israel parties they should be ex-communicated.

They should be named and it should be announced in all Jewish press, that they should no longer have the privilege of calling themselves Jews.

From now on they are to be known as slaves of islam or dhimmi-kapos, officially!

They won't vote (R) because of peer pressure and because (like many other Americans) they don't have a clue what goes on in the world outside of their 'burb. I personally consider anyone an ignoramus who has not read Winston Churchill's River War, with its detailed description of Sudan when there was no state of Israel to blame and vent on. Has Hillary read it? I think not. Has Obama read it? Possibly, since he removed the bust of Churchill, further putting his non-compliant writings out of favor with the group think people. Remember, if you don't have time to sit and read a masterpiece, you can download it for FREE and listen to it as an unshuffled playlist on your iPod. The reader did a great job:

Israel actually is working toward an upgrade to the traditional way people have treated each other in that part of the world. Churchill wrote another book called Malakind, which is about the AfPak area back then. It came last week from Amazon. I better start reading it before I have to call myself an ignoramus!!!

Most Americans of Mosaic descent do not practice Judaism, the go to Reform and Conservative shuls which are religious forms of Liberalism [not Judaism]. Being non-religious, what tie to the land of Israel do they really have? G-d forbid these two movements ever get a strong foothold in Israel.

Give Obama a 12-lane road to nowhere and flowing robes and...you get the picture.

I think folks will be pleasantly suprised. There should be a noticeable shift toward the Republican party. But say in 2012 if Pence, Huck, Palin or Gingrich get elected - a strong pro-Israel administration may inspire a much greater shift. Right now though, the clueless anti-Semite leftists are driving Jews away the GOP. Anyway I think this shift is likely the early stage of a strong realignment of Jewish voters to the GOP.

BH in Iowa - I don't see it. The "life" and "marriage" and "social and economic justice" and "global warming" (now reworded as "climate change") issues overcome any reason when it comes to any allies or national defense at all, for that matter. Because the U.S. Jews seem to think that the govt has to do all of the tzedakah. Jjust as the U.S. govt needs to refresh its activities according to the constitution, etc., the liberal Jewish communities need to do likewise (to redraw the permitting of govt in local community responsibilities) and the Torah for how it should be done (e.g., not by coveting, not by enforced confiscation, etc.). They have good intentions, but the methods don't work, as demonstrated by the USSR. Even the Israeli kibbutzim are moving away from being "collectives" now that the survival mode can be allowed (economically) to fade.
