Daughter: Rabin considered stopping Oslo shortly before he was murdered

Dalia Rabin, the daughter of the late Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin, told Yedioth Aharonoth in an interview this weekend that her father considered stopping the Oslo process shortly before he was murdered.
"Many people who were close to father told me that on the eve of the murder he considered stopping the Oslo process because of the terror that was running rampant in the streets and that Arafat wasn't delivering the goods.

Father after all wasn't a blind man running forward without thought.

I don't rule out the possibility that he considered also doing a reverse on our side.

After all he was someone for whom the security of the state was sacrosanct.
Hmmm. One of the many 'conspiracy theories' revolving around Rabin's death is that he was actually murdered by people on the Left who feared he would stop the 'peace process.'

Now she tells us. I have always thought of Rabin as the prototypical leftist who is willing to sacrifice their own people because they think the neighbors just can't be expected to behave civilly. This view did not match his military service, but it did match the hippy times. It turns out that leftists, while calling for "equality", actually think others are below them. If Dalia Rabin is accurate, that would be a great relief. Maybe she could ask the "many people who were close to father" that she mentions to write up their memories and put them together into a book (or a blog!).

Had Rabin done that, he might been alive and Israel would be a very different country today.

Now she tells us.

What could go wrong indeed.

I have no reason to believe her this late in the game.

Thank you Shimom Peres for a snuff job well done.

To read how extensive the doubts were in the Rabin family of who was really responsible for Rabin's killing, read here. Sorry, it's in Hebrew. As much as some of you may wish to accuse the author, Nachum Shachaf, of being a conspiracy freak, you'll still have to deal with all the original materials with their interviews of Rabin's wife and children. Perhaps The Rabins are tin foil hatters, too?
