MK accuses IDF and police of being politicized
A Knesset member has accused the IDF and the police of being politicized. But this isn't just any Knesset member. This is Ruby Rivlin (Likud), who is the speaker of the Knesset. Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin said the IDF and the police, which used to be "within the consensus," are perceived by the public as being politicized. In a speech given during a scouts award ceremony, Rivlin said the scout movement "is almost the only (organization) that manages to rise above this."Rivlin was referring to this sort of thing.
Rivlin is the white-haired gentleman on your right in the picture. You may recognize the young guy on the left too. The picture was taken nearly seven years ago in the speaker's office (Rivlin was also the speaker of the Knesset during the Sharon government, but stayed with the Likud when Sharon broke the party apart to join Kadima).
