Fighting reckless Arab drivers

I have never seen statistics about how many accidents in this country involve Arabs, but if you listen to the names when people are killed (God forbid), there are Arabs involved in a disproportionate percentage of the fatal accidents in this country.

Recently, three Israeli kids were killed when the gas truck in which they were riding ran head-on into a tractor being driven by an Arab without lights on the side of the road. Someone has decided to do something about it. Enough is enough.
The initiative aims to nab reckless drivers. Israel is generally unable to enforce traffic law in Judea and Samaria, as many of the drivers on the roads are PA Arabs without Israeli citizenship. Last week, Samaria Regional Council head Gershon Mesika blamed the accident on, “the complete lack of law enforcement toward Arab drivers.” He described many of the PA drivers as keeping lights off at night to hde the fact that vehicles have been stolen, for not being forced to maintain their vehicles as Israelis are, for ignoring speed limits and basic safety measures.

The volunteer photographers will record incidents of dangerous driving, and will then work to bring perpetrators - both Israeli and PA Arabs - to justice.

Activists from the two groups said the tragic accident in Samaria “highlights, once again, the price paid by innocent victims for the negligence of dangerous drivers on the roads of Judea and Samaria.” They expressed hope that the civilian initiative for safer roads “will benefit countless innocent travelers.”
I wish them much success.

The Israeli police is more interested in whether Jews in Yesha have exceeded their quota of family home construction than in whether Arab drivers obey the rules of the road.

Such is the inverted sense of moral values prevailing in post-modern Israel.

Good luck in turning them around.
