Fight the 'enemies of peace'?

Khaled Abu Toameh writes that there will be no peace between Israel and the 'Palestinians' so long as Iran, Syria, Hamas and Hezbullah are working against it, and that therefore the current negotiations are a waste of time.
The major threat to the peace process is not an Israeli checkpoint or a new housing project in a West Bank settlement, but the threats coming from the evil forces in the Gaza Strip, Damascus, Beirut and Tehran.

Together, they are all making every effort to sabotage any peace effort. They are opposed to peace because they believe that Israel has no right to exist and should be wiped off the map.

The peace process will never move forward as long as these forces are actively working to destroy Israel and eliminate any Arab or Muslim who talks about compromise.

As long as the US Administration and its Western allies continue to turn a blind eye to these real threats, Israel and the Palestinian Authority leadership will never be able to make any progress towards peace.
That leaves one question: Why does Abu Toameh seemingly believe that Fatah and the 'Palestinian Authority' are anything other than forces who "are actively working to destroy Israel and eliminate any Arab or Muslim who talks about compromise."

Fatah and Hamas differ only on tactics and not on goals. The reason Fatah cannot make peace is that it also wants to destroy the State of Israel.

What could go wrong?

Carl - I think he believes Fatah could be persuaded over the long term to drop its goal of destroying Israel. That will never happen with Hamas. But it won't happen as long Israel pretends Fatah and the PA don't need to be pushed to reform for real peace.

And I don't see Israel making such a demand of the "moderate" Palestinians. So we all know what is going to happen in a year's time.
