I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' No apologies next time, when Israel is forced to destroy hezbullah materiel and it is nearby civilians. The civilians have been put on notice. The world governments and the UN have been put on notice.
Lebanon has voted in the terrorists to the government. There is no distinguishing civilian from terrorist. They are one and the same.
No more dropping of leaflets, bombing empty fields. No more phone calls to leave town. No more hints that their time is coming.
The next war, and you know the arabs are itching to start one, simply destroy the perps. Hold nothing back, show no mercy. Accept nothing but absolute surrender on their part. Destroy any enemy who does not wish to surrender.
Israel needs to re-establish its deterrence. It needs to make the cost of attacking it, its citizens, its land, so unbelievably high, that everyone will think twice before doing that again. Alter the equation, make sure that the enemy sees their only two options as peace, or utter and complete destruction.
Carl and Kranky, that assumes Israel's elites do want to win another war. Israel hasn't won one since 1973 and in Lebanon, Israel saw the PLO expelled only to have its own leaders invite it into the heart of the Jewish State in the name of a so-called peace process that resulted in more terror for Israel than at any previous time in its history. The Golstone Report may well have succeeded in intimidating Israel from even trying to win the next war.
What could go wrong indeed
