Poll: Most Americans would back an Israeli attack on Iran
Perhaps realizing that their own President just isn't going to do it, most Americans now
back an Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear capabilities.
The poll was conducted by TIPP, the polling unit of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, a U.S. research firm of both syndicated and custom Market Research solutions.
According to the poll, 43 percent of U.S. Democrats approve of Israel taking military action against Iran to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons, while 40 percent disapprove. However, when Republicans were asked the same question, 74 percent voiced approval while 17 percent disapproved. Among independents, 56 percent approved of military action while 30 percent disapproved.
Overall, 56 percent of Americans approved a military strike, while 30 percent disapproved, according to the poll.
Once again, we see a partisan split on this issue. My hunch is that the split is not caused by (lack of) support for Israel, but rather by the desire of the Left wing of the Democratic party to avoid war at
any cost.

Too broad of a brush stroke, Carl. How many times I hear Republicans unjustly accused of being war mongers. What, Republicans love war and Dems hate it?
Anyway, it does not matter who would back an attack. NO ONE WANTS WAR!! The consequence of war affects everyone even the mindless protesters who protest just to protest.
Face it. in the end, it is our boys whose lives are on the line and the lives of those on the home front having to defend the state against imminent attack when Israel hits Iran.
It is past time as far as I am concerned. I say hit them and hit them hard. I say, the international community at the start of sanctions how many years ago, dropped the ball on Israel. To this moment there is no indication the international community will save Israel.
Eventually there must be consequences!! Yet for Israel to attack takes more than a poll or even the go ahead from the international community or even a whole bunch of back seat drivers.
I think denial is also a factor. And naivety. Some people just like to bury their heads in the sand and pretend Iran's not doing anything. Pretend that there is no need for war, that the war against "terror" is a myth, 9/11 was a conspiracy.
On the other hand, while I would of course support an Israeli strike on Iran, the thought of the outcome does terrify me. But it may very well end up being our only option.
I wasn't polled, so I'll change it to 56% + me.
