Over 1,000 demonstrate outside army prison
More than 1,000 people came to a Melave Malka (traditional Saturday night meal) outside the military brig in Atlit, which is south of Haifa, on Saturday night. The meal was a demonstration (link in Hebrew) for three students from the Har Bracha Hesder Yeshiva who have been jailed for staying in their yeshiva rather than transferring elsewhere or reporting for regular army duty. MK Arieh Eldad (National Union) was among the demonstrators, as was Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, the Chief Rabbi of Tzfat and the son of Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, who is one of the most influential rabbis in the National Religious community today. One of the speakers was one of the students who is imprisoned.The Har Bracha yeshiva was expelled from the Hesder program because its head, Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, advocates refusing orders to expel Jews from their homes.
On Thursday, Foreign Policy's blog reprinted a lengthy article from the New York Review of Books, which documents a phenomenon I have discussed many times - the increasing religiosity of the IDF. While I'd be leery of believing a lot of what is written there (the study was undertaken on behalf of the International Crisis Group, which advocates talking to Hamas and Hezbullah, and one of the people they interview - without mentioning that he is one of the leaders of 'Peace Now' is Dror Etkes, whose word about Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria cannot be trusted at all), much of what they describe as going on in Judea and Samaria is largely correct.

Yep. Good luck getting the IDF to enforce a prolonged construction freeze or to kick Jews out of their homes. There are simply not enough radical far leftists to get the job done.
