To gauge Iran's intent, watch its missile program
Well, there's no need to worry about Iran's nuclear capabilities anymore. A new study has concluded that Iran is only capable of hitting Israel anyway. If Iran is on a quest to become a nuclear-armed power, its missiles will reflect its intentions. An important new study just released by the International Institute of Strategic Studies in London contains a wealth of detail from open sources about Iran's missile program, and how Iran might match those missiles to a nuclear warhead. The study concludes that Iran is probably aiming first to perfect a solid-fuel, medium-range missile that can carry a nuke to hit regional targets, such as Israel, rather than attempting to launch a continent-spanning weapon aimed at the United States.Read the whole thing. The bottom line is that they cannot really reach Europe yet, but they ought to be able to reach Israel pretty soon if they cannot already.
...
The new study points out that Iran's acquisition of the fissile material for building a nuke -- getting the uranium and plutonium -- is not the only factor worth watching. Iran's missile development ambitions also provide tell-tale clues. For example, are the missiles being built large and powerful enough to carry a nuclear warhead?
What could go wrong?

Stop looking up in the sky.
What's the range of a dirty bomb?
"President Bush said in 2007, citing U.S. intelligence agencies, that Iran could develop a missile capable of hitting the United States and all of Europe by 2015."
And?
I'll just drop the ball so the next occupant can figure it out. Of course the next occupant is actually allowing the genie to emerge from the bottle.
Couldn't expect Russia to help out then because already the U.S and Russia were 'soul' mates. All the while the Bush white house was well aware Russia was helping to build Iran's nuke program while sending missiles and "other things" to Syria who we were shunning at that time.
(without teeth)
Failed diplomacy without teeth in the shadows then. Failed diplomacy out in the open like a steam roller without brakes NOW is dangerous appeasement no matter which way you cut it.
All roads lead to this point. To quote our newest Arabist Secretary of State, (in a long line of Arabist Secretaries of State) "it takes a village."
As a side note because Bush made his own precedent and cuddled up with Russia a little too close the torch was passed to the newest President, Medvedev, who is arming Syria with some shinning new WAR PLANES. http://www.ynetnews.com/home/0,7340,L-3083,00.html
How can we be surprised or angry? After all, Russia was good enough to be placed on the Bush formulated U.S led quartet for peace, right?
The words, "those who 'harbor,' 'sponsor' and 'aid' terror..." blah blah blah..." surely fooled us all. In the end, it meant NOTHING.
But then George W was against the alliance of civilizations so that makes up for Jerusalem and everything else.
my bad.
Gauge not "chleciagague"
