McLaughlin poll on Obama re-released

For some reason, Arutz Sheva discovered on Sunday the McLaughlin poll I discussed here and here (Hat Tip: Lenny B). This has set off several blog posts about it.

Shmuel Rosner asks some good questions about the poll here.

The real questions is how will Jews vote if it's Obama v. Republican. My guess is that most of them will still vote Obama. Were it not for John Anderson's presence in the 1980 election as an independent, I suspect Jimmy Carter would not have become the only Democrat in the last 80 years not to win a majority of the Jewish vote. Most American Jews unthinkingly vote for "the Democrat" regardless of how bad for them or for Israel s/he is.

The only way most Jews won't vote to re-elect Obama is if he is not on the ballot, i.e. if he doesn't win renomination. The odds of that happening are somewhere between slim and none.

I didn't vote for Obama last time. The Republicans need to keep Sarah Palin off the ballot, maybe then they stand a chance at capturing some of my shul's voters.
