Ramat Shlomo back in the news

Ramat Shlomo is back in the news Monday morning.

Israel Radio reported that the Netanyahu government insistently denied reports that it has agreed to a two-year freeze on building in Ramat Shlomo. It claims that the building and planning process will continue as usual there and everyplace else in Jerusalem.

Of course, it happens that it takes a couple of years from the fourth approval that Ramat Shlomo got in March to the seventh and final approval.

Just a coincidence.

UPDATE 8:21 AM

That report was apparently issued in response to this.

The Israeli government can have it both ways: it can claim there is no freeze and at the same wink at the US by keeping the project "on ice" for two years. Every one in Israel knows there is a construction freeze in Jerusalem - not just in Ramat Shlomo - but for political reasons the Israeli government can't officially acknowledge it exists.
