Documentary examines righteous Arab actions during the Holocaust

Yes, there were even some Arabs who tried to save Jews during the Holocaust. There was a documentary about it on Monday on PBS (yes, on the Jewish holiday). Here's a brief video about it.

Let's go to the videotape.

You don't know the record of PBS do you? PBS and NPR are about as left wing as you can go. Camera archives are full to the brim with their bias.

As for MacNeil/Lehrer reports, they have never spared bias against Israel. MacNeil/Leher are left wingers, big time. I stopped watching their news hour a long time ago.

Betcha two bucks in a round about fashion by the time this documentary (meant to sanitize Arabs) is over it will show how Israel has not given the full extent of their powers to help the poor Palestinians. Just like painting the Mufti of Jerusalem simply as an Islamic scholar. Surely I would faint if they reported Abu Mazen as a holocaust denier.

My feelings about anyone who was righteous in saving Jews, why the big deal? If you saw someone dying in the street would you not do the human thing to save them?? I rest my case. All this talk about righteous gentiles who helped save Jews is preserve the conscience of a world who watched Jews march to their death and did nothing.

No one saved my family from their fate. For those who did seek haven in the arms of a real human being, I am thankful. Other then that, it was because what we have been blamed for that caused it all to begin with. From where I sit, the world learned nothing.

as an aside, this is an important doc, as it points out another longstanding myth....that the arabs had no hand at all in the holocaust.

at least in northern africa...they did

which means, the arabs knew exactly what was going on.

and of course, there was the great grand mufti.

Yep. How much air time over the last 20 years has PBS/NRP given to explain the history of Islamic-Nazi cooperation with Hitler's final solution plans?

Can you count to zero?

BTW, has PBS/NRP done any documentaries on any righteous gentiles until now?

Shy Guy

they have done docs on schindler and wallenberg...so yes

but no, they have never really done anything about the alliance of the grand mufti with hitler...and have never touched on what occurred in northern africa, or what would have occurred in the rest of the mideast had hitler not been stopped by the allied forces.

for years, we have been force fed the bs that the only reason the arabs saw hitler as an ally was because he would rid them of their true oppressors....the french and the british.

hopefully the doc (which is based on a book, which i must now buy) will show this to be another myth.

lets wait till monday before passing judgement.

btw, you can go to the shows website and see some pics of north african jews in real refugee camps (not the faux pali kind) waiting to get to palistine to escape the nazis.

none of this is anything new to any of us...im just shocked that no one has ever confronted someone like achmadinijad with what happened in north africa, when he starts with the whole, "the holocaust had nothing to do with us...so why punish us"

This documentary is very important, because it shows that the final solution was implemented also in Europe's possessions in North Africa by Vichy France and in Nazi-occupied Tunisia.

The Jewish populations of French and Italian North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya) and Denmark were the only ones to be spared the mass deportations and mass murder that occurred in the rest of Europe.
