Israel to recall ambassador to Sweden?

When the Aftonbladet scandal broke two months ago, I argued that Sweden is an anti-Semitic country and that Israel ought to recall its ambassador. Now, YNet reports that someone is finally listening and that Israel is considering recalling its ambassador to Sweden.

Israel is considering recalling its ambassador to Stockholm in light of Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt's [pictured. CiJ] remarks in support of a UN report claiming war crimes were committed by both sides during the Israel-Hamas Gaza conflict.

Bildt told reporters in Stockholm Thursday that South African jurist Richard Goldstone, who headed the investigation into the war, is a person with "high credibility" and "high integrity" and that his report carries weight.

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon called to re-examine Israel's relations with Sweden.

"It is a shame that a person who refused to respond to the blood libel against Israel has come out in praise of this unprofessional report," Ayalon told Ynet Thursday evening.
Indeed. Bildt was at the head of the Swedish government's refusal to take a stand on Aftonbladet's preposterous claim that IDF soldiers kidnapped 'Palestinians' and stole their organs for sale abroad. Bildt is a despicable lowlife who should be declared persona non grata in Israel even if the government decides not to go along with Ayalon's idea.

Israel should go further and sever diplomatic relations with Sweden. Jewish self-respect demands the appropriate response to Swedish hostility towards Israel.

Personally I do agree with you, but I think it may have the opposite effect. Our FM and the rest of our government will take that response as a confirmation of Israels "evilness"

Why doesn't Israel demand the return of stolen Jewish gold?

IKEA is way too popular in Israel. If it's anything like IKEA in the US, it's as much a tourist location as a store. But it's cheap junk, and beneath Israelis, IMO.

With all the threatened anti-Israel boycotts in Scandinavia these days, it would be no loss to Israel were IKEA to suddenly be a place avoided in Israel.
