Hamas, the terror elite

It's become fashionable in some 'progressive' circles to claim that Hamas is the lawfully elected representative of the 'Palestinians,' and that therefore the world must negotiate with them as it would with any state.

It is further claimed that Hamas has separate political and military wings, and that the political wing is somehow acceptable as a diplomatic actor on the local scene even if the military wing is not.

It is also claimed in many 'progressive' circles that Hamas doesn't really want to wipe out the State of Israel and the Jews who live in it, but only seeks a 'Palestinian state' - a claim I doubt Hamas itself would make.

Finally, it also claimed in 'progressive' circles that Hamas has no quarrel with America other than its support for Israel.

David Horowitz debunks all of these claims in this short 5-minute video. Let's go to the videotape. (Yes, I know that for a lot of you the screen goes into the blogroll, but if I embedded the screen at a smaller size, you would miss most of the video. If it doesn't work for you, you can also go here to watch it).

Hamas softens its expressions for Western consumption without conceding on its Islamist ideology and rejection of Israel's existence. The West's uncritical embrace of Hamas focuses on the group's tone; its ideology and policies go unaddressed.

What could go wrong indeed
