Video: Pope walks out of inter-faith dialogue after Shari'a judge blasts Israel

Here's a CNN report that includes footage of the Pope walking out of that interfaith meeting at which Chief Shari'a Court Judge Taysar al-Tamimi blasted Israel. If the report is correct, then the Pope did not have a simultaneous translation of what the Sheikh was saying and walked out immediately after he found out what the Sheikh had said (unlike the Hillary Clinton - Suha Arafat incident from several years ago, where there was a simultaneous translation, but Clinton later claimed it didn't work). The real questions then become who allowed the Sheikh to speak in the first place - especially knowing that he had pulled the same thing nine years ago when Pope John Paul II was here - and why didn't anyone who understood Arabic (and you can be sure that there were some Israeli Jews there who do understand it) try to stop him.

As to the rest of the report, it's CNN so what do you expect. The Oslo accords clearly provide that the 'Palestinian Authority' cannot carry out any official activities in Jerusalem. And yes, that includes setting up a politically motivated press center. If you want us to enter into agreements with you, then please abide by them.

Let's go to the videotape.

If the PA is not going to honor commitments it undertook with Israel, Israel is not obligated to fulfill the Road Map. Prime Minister Netanyahu might want to remind President Obama that peace is not a situation where one side gives and the other side takes but where neither side takes advantage of the other party. Both sides must want peace for it to happen.
