Lebanon: Two 'Israeli spies' escape to Israel
Lebanese officials report that two Lebanese men accused of spying for Israel have escaped into that country via the border near Kibbutz Misgav Am. JPost is reporting that each man was accompanied by two of his children, while Arutz Sheva is reporting that one the men's names and that he is accompanied by his wife and three sons. The two entered Israel Monday morning via a gate near Kibbutz Bar Am, the officials told international media. One of the two was identified as 49-year-old Eli Maroun Hayek, a professor of mathematics. Hayek fled with his wife and three sons.Good luck with that.
According to Lebanese media, Lebanon's government has turned to the United Nations with a request that the two escapees be tracked down and returned.
Lebanon has arrested some 25 people for spying for Israel since the beginning of this year. JPost reports that Hezbullah's al-Manar television network reports that as many as five suspected spies may have escaped to Israel.
Meanwhile, Hizbullah's Al Manar news network reported that three suspected spies had actually escaped, naming them as Ali Taufik, Ali al-Hayek and Hana al-Ka'azi. According to the report, two of the suspects' cars were found abandoned near the Israeli border.Up to this point, I've had my doubts whether these were really Israeli spies or whether Hezbullah was making the story up to help them in the Lebanese elections. If this turns out to be true, Israel ought to do all it can to help these people (something it has not always done for spies in the past) and it's a pity that the spy ring has been caught.
Al Manar also said that last week, two other members of the spy ring escaped across the border into Israel.

If their daughters lok like Salma Hayek, I'm sure they'll get much help.
Israel should not turn them over to Hezbollah. Those who are true friends of the Jewish people deserve their protection and loyalty. Its a tradition that is rooted in the Hebrew Bible, where Joshua's spies in Jericho were helped by a Caananite woman named Rahab and her family. They were spared because of what they did for the Children Of Israel and she was accounted a righteous person. For Jews this is both a Halachic and a moral duty as a well as matter of national self-interest.
@NormanF: I agree, and terrific Scriptural application to make your point.
Hrmm, all of a sudden during the Obama administration Israeli Spies are getting caught by the dozens? Hrm....
