Does the OU understand what's going on in Israel?

I ask the question in the title of this post quite seriously. Does America's largest organization of Orthodox Jews truly understand what's at stake in Israel? Let's go to the video tape.

Without giving away too much of my personal biography (and anyone who does so will have their comment deleted), let's just say that I was a national officer of NCSY (the OU's youth group) 35 years ago. The level of ignorance shown by the votes described in the video above is simply beyond belief. If you don't understand what's going on in Israel, please at least listen to those who do. Anyone who believes that there is freedom of speech in Israel is beyond naive.

As to bringing children to what is supposed to be a serious meeting and then telling them how to vote - that's beneath contempt.

But then, we all know that last year the OU gave its seal of approval to a crook, so I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised.

To tell you the truth, after watching the video, I questioned who edited this thing, because I have no idea what they're talking about. A little background as to what motion they are talking about, why it's an issue, what the conference was about--anything would help. As the video stands, it just sounds like Jewish folks getting to the mic to hear their own voice. Oh wait...what was I thinking?

It's the OU. They stick purely to being Pareve.
